Too Hot to Handle!

Hi friends and Happy Wednesday-middle of the week to you all!  Our warm weather has flown the coop here in VA and the freezing cold has settled back in, darn it all, LOL!  I'm hoping when I fly out to CHA in LA at the end of this month that it is a bit warmer and sunnier there.  I think other than the cold I just really struggle with the gray--barren landscape and gray skies, depressing for sure!  People laugh when I tell them this but I honest to god do it when I'm in my craftroom--I PRETEND to be in the tropics!  I have my special SAD light (or my happy lite as hubby says) on and all my Ott lites on so its bright, I have a Vornado space heater blowing on my legs, beachy music on my Ipod and a screensaver slideshow full of beach pics!  Then whenever I craft I can be on a beach for awhile--it helps ease my pain, hee hee!  I just need to haul up and move somewhere warm for good and put an end to it---but gosh darn it, I promised the kids we wouldn't move until they graduated high school, lol!  That means 5.5 more years---arghhh :)  But South Carolina, Georgia and Texas are on my list of maybe "home states" in the future!  I was watching HGTV the other night (my fave channel) and the people were somewhere tropical (Belize maybe?) and they said they had 350 days of warm sunshine a YEAR PEOPLE--why don't we ALL live there, fabulous I say!  Maybe I should move to an island, hee hee!  Not fair at all---I wouldn't miss the seasons because you can always VISIT them, LMBO!  And now they're calling for snow later this week AGAIN--THUD, that's me fainting from the cold so blow some warm air to us here in VA if you can :)  We are planning a trip to Hawaii (Maui & Kauai) for spring break and I am literally counting down the days--I cannot wait to go.  It's been on my bucket list for a long time and I'm so excited I can hardly stand it!!  I KNOW it will be warm there!

**PS--I'm reading Ken Follett's "Pillars of the Earth" on my Ipad because I so enjoyed his new one "Fall of Giants" and I know it was a hit last year and Oprah loved it to but.....  Okay, I really love his writing and flow of story but this one is kinda violent/gory and a bit unsettling and giving me nightmares!  Has anyone read it and enjoyed it?  I hardly ever NOT finish a book but I'm very visual so the gore stays with me and I want to make it to the end and finish it, but I need some encouragement, LOL!  Let me know if you read it!

Hmmmmm...seems I need to give away some blog candy to cheer me up a bit, so make sure to make it to the end of my post today for some "sunshine treats"!

Too Hot To Handle!!

Fittingly the challenge for the 7 Kids Challenge Blog is "HOT or COLD"--well I couldn't wait to make something HOT, LMBO!  I've had this cutie Kraftin Kimmie stamp called "Mae" for awhile and I just had to use her for this challenge--this is me in my sunny-day dreams (in Maui) :)  See all the Kraftin Kimmie stamps HERE!  My papers are all from Kaisercraft--I loved the mix of sunny colors with the bright aquas--makes you smile!  The sentiment is from PTI stamped in two tones of ink.  All of my paper edges got distressed with my fave Zutter Distress It All tool---if you like to distress this is a must have, it makes it quick and neat.  No more paper dust all over you and your crafting area, LOL!

I used some pretty teal pearls to accent my image and scroll--scrolls were made with a punch (EK Success).  The orange patterned paper got embossed with a CB embossing folder (perfect paisley)  -- its fun to emboss over your patterned paper, gives it a different look.

She got colored with Copics of course (BG23,BG11,BG10/YR18,YR12,YR00/hat-YR24,YR23,YR21,YR20/hair-E25,E31,E50/skin-E15,E11,E00).  The background was done with copics as well---I have shot the new video on how to do this but I need to edit it.  I hope to have it up by the weekend for you all!  And my island gal has to have some blingety-bling--so I added stardust stickles (my absolute fave) on her swimsuit dress and the scrolls as well.

***Sunshine Blog Candy***--Want to win some goodies?  1 6x6 Basic Grey "Curio" paper pad, 1 Flower Soft (baby peach), 1 NEW Ranger Liquid Pearls (buttercup), 1 pot Shimmerz (ballet slippers) and 1 Kraftin' Kimmies stamp (Eleanor)!  To enter just answer the question below on this post only by Saturday, Jan 8th!
"If you were given a day off to do whatever you wanted and it was sunny and perfect weather outside--what would you do?"

NOW, make sure to hop over to the 7 Kids Challenge Blog to see the rest of the DT's fabulous projects and join in the fun!  You can win a $20 gift certificate to use on the NEW Belle's N Whistles collection that 7 Kids is bringing--FUN!!

  3. Such a funny post - that cheered me up no end!! Your card is gorgeous - I love the colour combo (the colour of the ribbon is yummy!!), and that image is perfect as is your copic colouring!!

Not being a fan of the heat myself.. if it was perfect weather outside and I could do aaaanything I wanted.. it would be.. exploring the beach for washed up treasures, and then a relaxing picnic afterwards with friends and family atop a sand dune looking out over the sea, feeling the breeze on our faces! :) Thanks for the opportunity to win!!

    Have a good day xo

  4. I would go on an OUTDOOR walk/run. Going to the Y every day wastes so much time and is not as fun anyway. :)

  5. Suzanne what a cute card ! I had to laugh at how you survive in the craft room ...I can fully relate it has been way to cold for me this winter so fat ..I love spring and summer.

UMMMM if it was the perfect day I would spend it outside all day at lake, watching the kids and the dogs play in the water, floating on the big family raft..and enjoy a nice bbq for dinner.

    Hugs

  6. Lay on the beach with a good book on my Kindle

  7. To answer the question: I would take my granddaughter out walking and show her everything that Nature has to offer her in the Adirondacks and explain that she should be grateful for all there is.

  8. Wow! That's awesome blog candy!! Thanks for the chance to win it! If I had a day like that I would go lounge by the pool with a good book!

  9. I think I would take a stroll on the beach and finish it off with a nice romantic dinner with my husband on the boardwalk.

  11. Hi Suzanne,

I read The Pillars of the Earth a couple of years ago and I loved the book. Yes, I did find several parts of the book very disturbing but was fascinated enough by his story to continue. As I recall I mainly found two parts of the book in particular horrific so maybe you have already read the worst. I personally couldn't put the book down, but do what's best for you. ;)

If I had a beautiful day right now, I'd do my usual walking and playing with my dog outside. Then I'd read outside and maybe take a short nap outdoors.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Hey Suzanne!! Cute card today!! I read pillars of the earth and loved it. There is a sequel to it too which is also just as good! They made a tv series for pillars too on the movie network that was kinda good. I would stick it out and finish it. It's a great love story :)

  13. Fantastic Card and I love the color palate...Plus I just love summer. TFS!

  14. lol...Hi Suzanne. First let me say don't move to Georgia as your home state. Grew up there when I was little and the snakes, huge spider and the tornados are enough to make you enjoy the coldest of winters. heehee I love your card. Great coloring as always. Makes me warm just looking at it and we are sitting at 3 for the third day in a row over here in Washington State. Now, as to the best part...Your question. If I had one day off and it was warm there is no question at all I would be out in our pool with my two children from sun up or should I say Madison up (she is 12 and loves to sleep in the am!) until my husband was begging us to come in and eat something. Wow, I can smell the chlorine and now I can not wait until SUMMER! I love spending my days like that. It just doesn't get any better for me than that. Hubby hates the heat and only swims for small spurts so we all got over feeling bad for him a long time ago. Have a warm and cozy day. Hugs, Lisa G

  15. What a lovely card you have made.
What I will do on a sunny day.....take my hobby stuff outside and I go crafting outside in the garden LOL

  16. Oh, she is so pretty and I am loving these pretty shades of yellow and blue.
To answer you question,if I had the day off with nothing that had to be done, and the weather was 70 or higher I would grab me a good book, glass of sweet tea and just soak in the sunshine out on the patio relaxing and enjoying the quiet surrondings.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Awesome card Suzanne! It does make me feel warmer! LOL! It is -5 degrees this am with a windchill of -20 degrees! BRRRR! Your coloring is wonderful! I love all the goodies that you have added! Hmmmm... one day of on a warm and sunny day, what would I do? I would head outside in the sunshine and read a book! Call it a mental health day so that I wouldn't feel guilty about not doing anything! LOL! Awesome blog candy, thanks for the chance to win! Stay warm and Happy Creating! Sara

  18. Girl, I don't comment very often, but I just had to pop in today...I'm almost finished with Pillars of the Earth for the SECOND time...it is one of my all-time favorites. Don't give up!! There is so much more to the story than the war and violence...a life-changing story if you ask me. If Josh and I had had a daughter her name would have been Aliena, if that tells you anything at all. :) Keep me posted...I'd love to hear where you are and what you think as you go on!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Are you kidding me?? I'm first??? LOL!! Well, first of all, I'll answer your "candy" question. If it was gorgeous and sunny and I could do anything I wanted to, I'd head out to the deck with a cold glass of iced tea and a stack of Magnolia Ink magazines and other paper crafting files and ideas and cozy in to the chair and read and dream of all the beautiful things I could try!!! Then I'd probably just sit and enjoy the beautiful weather and just daydream... mmm... it would be so wonderful since we here in Ohio have the same lousy weather as you!! Cold... dreary... I'm with you, I want to move somewhere warm and sunny, you can always visit cold!!!!!
    Have a great day!!

  20. I would sooooo go the the beach, I live in FL and it seems I never make it there, there is a beach in Sarasota, just south of Holmes beach that I love. It is so peaceful there. There is just something about the smells and sounds of the ocean, that when you leave it seems that everything is right with the world, for a little while anyway.

  21. Hi Suzanne

Lovely card. It's freezing here in Munich too:-(

I would, of course, go to the beach with my new Kindle (Xmas pressie)if I were given a day off to do whatever I wanted and it was sunny and perfect weather outside.

    Have a nice day!

  22. Good Morning Suzanne. First to comment huh? WOWZERS. Well, I live in Southern California, so the weather is usually pretty nice. I am like you, and I do not enjoy the cold or snow, YUCK. I like to visit it once a year when we go on a family ski weekend, but that is about it. Otherwise, I LOVE the warm weather. We live in the desert area, so the summer gets SCORCHING. hubby and I absolutely LOVE the hot weather. Anyway, so if I could do anything for a nice warm day, I would definitely go to the beach with the kids. I love sitting on the warm sand with a book and a drink in my hand, watching my little boys splash and play in the water, build sand castles, etc. I would end the day at my craft desk, coloring away the evening. That would be my perfect warm weather day!!! I cant wait to meet you at you copic class in LA in a few weeks, Im so excited!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Suzanne,Love the card as I totally agree with you regarding the warm weather. I do not want that costal storm they are calling for our area this weekend. I am so envious as Hawaii is my dream trip! I am hoping we will go next year sometime.

    ReplyDelete
  24. with a perfect sunny day i would walk out my front door across the sand path and onto the beach.. i live on the beach front in ocean city.. oh please bring on the sunshine :) sending sunny thoughts your way!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I love the idea of you crafting on the beach. I think I need to do the same since it is gray and cold here too. I would love to sit outside and enjoy the sun while reading a good book.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Hi Suzanne ~
Gorgeous card as always, and I LOVE the background!! I'm in Sunny Orlando so we have almost year round sunshine. I agree about being able to visit the other seasons!! LOL The kids are begging to go swimming today...it's heated so I just might let them. (LOL, thought I'd rub it in a little, hee hee!!)

Just wanted you to know that I've been a long time fan of yours!! Your blog/creations are what inspired me to start stamping/coloring in the first place. It is such a treat for me to be working with you on 7 Kids!!

    Hugs,
    Wendy

  27. Such a cute card! We're having super cold weather in Colorado too. I think it was 7 degrees this morning - yuck! Your card was just the warm pick-me-up needed! Your coloring is beautiful and I love all the sparkle!!

If I had a gorgeous, sunny day all to myself...I'd spend the morning out in the sunshine with some stamped images and Copics. When I got tired of coloring, I'd read and snooze for a bit. Then I'd go grab my 3 year old and chase him with the hose for a while. Family time is always fun!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Tee hee! I love that you set you craftroom up as a holiday destination! If I was given an unexpected day off that was sunny and lovely I am ashamed to say I would probably still stay inside and craft! Maybe that is just because I am feeling the winter blues at the moment though.

  29. Love the colors you used & how you scrap in the tropics...lol. Not sure what I'd do on a perfect day off, that's a tough one. I live on the beach so can go for a walk anytime but honestly don't do that often enough. hum still thinking... I think I would just go into Manhattan and window shop, walking around leisurely ending up in Central Park on the great lawn reading a good book. Something I haven't done in ages (the Central Park thing not the book thing)

Also haven't read either of the Ken Follett's books you mentioned but knew your recommendation in an earlier post that Fall of Giants was good was going to download a sample.. As for the One that is giving you nightmares.. Give it another chapter or two if it is still bothering you, put it down and read something else...

    Have a great day
    Debbie

  30. Great card! Oh how I wish I was in Hawaii now. Let's see, if it was a sunny day and I could do whatever I wanted, I would sit out in the sun and read a good book and drink some tea. A pool to dip my toes in would be nice too.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I would love to go for a long walk with my best friend, my husband. We would explore the beautiful day and the world around us, hoping to notice some new and wonderful things.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Oh I can just see you dancing around in the sun on Maui with your cute straw hat! LOL How much fun that would be. If I could go anywhere it would be to Hawaii on a nice warm day with a beautiful Hawaiian breeze blowing. aaaawwwwww I've been to Hawaii 3 times over the past 28 years & loved it (Maui twice). Hubby loves the convenience of Oahu (food, shopping, etc). Maui is sooooo beautiful & relaxing. You'll love, love, love it!

btw..........your card is adorable & I can't wait to see how you did the background. I think that's what I struggle with so I usually cut out my image.

Thanks for all you do & show us, Suzanne! You're the bestest!!!

    Huggies ~ Sharron♥

  33. Such decisions to make. Back in the day I would sit on my deck getting some sun and reading a good book or magazine. Now I try not to get so much sun but love being out in it while drawing or coloring. The sun feels so good on my bones. A great lake or ocean makes things even better. Maybe camping, but only if it can be for at least a weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Ohhh, how beautiful! I love your colors and all your layering! I'm just taking in your gorgeous coloring and am so amazed. I love how you colored her dress and how you highlited it with a different color, beautiful! Now for your question, since I live in Hawaii and it's sunny and we have perfect weather almost every day, I would be inside crafting, lol! Happy New Year Suzanne!

  35. I love your card, she does look hot! I have not read the Pillars of The Earth but I saw the mini series and I loved it. It was pretty bloody but the story was great.
If I could do anything on a beautiful day I would go to the lake and open my lounge chair and read a good book. Thanks for the chance to win.

  36. I absolutely LOVE the stamp! She is so perky! On a sunny day with absolutely nothing to do, I would float in the pool. I love to just float and listen to the waterfall and background music. What a perfect day that would be.......

  38. This is such a cute card. I love the bright, sunny colors and her "tan".

Gee, I am from Buffalo so the thought of sunshine and warmth is quite appealing. If it I had a sunny warm day to do whatever I wanted- I would take my kids swimming at the pool or perhaps down to the lake (if was warm enough too)

    ReplyDelete
  39. I would do one of the following things...
    1) if all my kids were home, I'd take them to the lake and ride the jetskis. Let them wakeboard and just generally spend some fun down time with them. Seems to be a rare opportunity now that they are getting older and starting college, etc.
    2) if the kids were NOT home I'd have to be in my craft room. Which is kinda lame, but I get so much stress relief being in there that I do it as often as I can.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Kayaking, as I live in sunny Florida that is one of the things we love to do. Love the colors especially the aquas.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I have a pool that I love, almost more than crafting. I would get on my Molly Brown, float around, and take a nap. That's my usual afternoon routine in the summer and I love it!

As usual, beautiful card and superb coloring! Stay warm.

    ReplyDelete
  42. What a fun card and I love the color combination and the layout. It certainly helps to "brighten" a long winter. In answer to your question I would first wash the sheets on our bed and hang them out to dry (I know it sounds like work but the smell of fresh dried sheets is so worth it). Then I would take the day and explore with my husband some new area of the cities which of course would include quaint shops and finding a new resturant. The day would end with enjoying a good book and spending some time in my craft room.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I would take my grandkids on a picnic and take tons of photos to add to their scrapbooks! Then when they are all tired and ready to come home, we'd come home, they would take a quick nap and I would upload my photos !

  44. Just adorable! I love the warm summer fun during this BRRR COLD time of the year!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Gorgeous, she is very fitting to your description of your craft room!

In answer to your question I would be in my card room (as it has been dubbed by my grandsons ... lol) with the windows open and music as loud as I could stand it and craft. Of course hubby couldn't be in the house because he doesn't like my music or it playing loudly.

    ReplyDelete
  47. If it were nice and warm and sunny out... I would love to go to the lake and sit in the sun and read a book.
Just love your sunny card. It is such a break from the snowy cold weather we have been experiencing here. Thanks for giving me a dream break to think about the summertime.

  48. Great card~~interesting question: I am retired, it was beautiful out today, and I spent the entire day on the lanai COLORING! So I guess that is what I would do, LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Great card, Suzanne! Love the colors and the hot challenge. If I had a perfect weather day off (which hardly ever happens. LOL!) I'd spend it at our new property that we call Baby Creek. I could hike for awhile with my family and then set up some crafty activity on the porch. Of course we'd grill out and watch for all the little critters that frequent the area. Yeah for nature!

    ReplyDelete
  50. I would take our dog to the lake - she just loves the water! And I find it so peaceful.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Sit on the beach some where and just veg and listen to the waves ahhh can you hear them now??( I live in NE Ohio burrrrr I am so ready to move south too Suzanne!!)

  52. I would love a nice quiet day at the beach with my iPod and a nice comfy lounge chair!

    Ahhhh! :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. Suzanne-I am SO with you on moving to an island in the tropics and you are totally right about the seasons! I wouldn't miss them at all, especially winter! LOL! If I had a sunny day with perfect weather I would go for a long walk or bike ride, work in the yard and sit on the porch with a cool drink!
Love your adorable island girl card! I hooe you enjoy Hawaii. It is fabulous!

  54. She really is a little hottie....Great job as always.
If it were warm and sunny out and I could do whatever I wanted, I would probably just sit by my pool and relax and color with my copics. I would not be putting together cards just coloring..........

  55. Ms. Suzanne I'm sure you would not like to live in Wisconsin. However believe it or not it is beautiful here in the winter. If I had a day off I would go for a walk with my camera. Love your card. Colors are very refreshing.

  56. I love your card she is so cute.

Answer to your blog question: I am so energized by hot weather I would want to be at the beach I love the water and our Puget Sound can be so pretty. I would read my kindle and watch my dogs play in the sand and I would make sure there were some craft stores around to shop and replenish supplies (LOL)
Have a great time in TN. Wish I was going there with you (my brother lives there.) and I want to take a class from you. ; )

  58. Suzanne,
Great card - love the fun and colors!
As for Pillars of the Earth, I read it 20 years ago when I worked for a book distributor. Yes, it was lengthy, a TOME. But with so many stories and timeframes within, it was a complicated tale to tell. I think the most fascinating part of it all was the history lesson on matters that we couldn't possibly imagine because we are living in a completely different society and technological world. This book gives insight as to how history might have been...gory, crude, unenlightened, yet human.. That's my take-away from it. And the sacrifices people had to make. Call it your Moby Dick of the fiction realm!

  59. Love the bright colors and I want a hat like that! If it were warm and sunny here I would definately be in my bare feet walking around outside checking out my flower beds, sippins some sweet tea and planning my next card.

  60. Whewwwwwww feel the warm air coming your way? It was about 71 here today in Southern California! We moved here recently due to a blessing....work transfer from Maine! Best thing that has ever happened to my Hubs and myself we are both very happy here! Since I have many warm days in my life now....I would still go and walk the beach! Love to walk on the beach!

    ReplyDelete
  61. First I would get up early so as not to lose one minute of my perfect day. Keeping in mind that I am in Nebraska with no beaches or mountains my day would be a bit different but just as good! I would go onto the deck with my cup of coffee and just listen to the birds while I enjoyed my coffee. Then Lucy and I would go for a long walk. When we got home it would be time to go back onto the deck and read a great book for awhile. After a picnic lunch, I would take my copics and some images and color them under a shade tree in the yard. By then my dh would be home and we would hop in the car and grab something to eat and Lucy and go to the lake for a short boat ride. I would then come home and sit in the screen porch and watch the fireflies and wish on a star. Finally I would come in and open the bedroom windows and let the gentle breeze in and go to sleep

  62. Love, love, love your card. The colors are so elegant together.

If the weather was perfect outside, I would take my walks throughout the day but would spend most of it inside stamping. I'm not a big fan of being outside unless I was on vacation hiking in the mountains. :)

    ReplyDelete
  63. Great card. Love the colors...perfect for hot, sunny weather, which we don't have here right now. If I had a day to do whatever I'd take a raft and a good mystery novel to the pool and swim and read and swim and read and swim....well, you get the picture. Thanks for the chance to win!

    ReplyDelete
  64. Love your card.. The colors are perfect.. A perfect sunny weather day for me here in South Jersey would have me heading to LBI at the Jersey shore to listen to the ocean and read my nook on the beach.

  65. Hi Suzanne! Long time no see. hehehe Had to stop by to say how much I LOVE your card! It's sooooo YOU. :) You always manage to totally rock any challenge you're involved in. I love it. 67. I love your card! I know we'll be able to dress like that soon! Since it has been so cold here in OH, I would love just to hop in my car, roll down the windows and take a nice long drive through the country side!

  68. Adorable card. Love the image and the way you colored her. It is beautiful. If I had perfect weather I would have a hard time choosing between a walk thru the Redwoods or a walk on the beach ending with a picnic lunch.

  69. Oh such a gorgeous card!!! I love Kraftin Kimmie they are so much fun to color and you have done so beautifully.

So okay, a warm sunny day...I'd probably geocache!! I can't wait for spring to get here. We got at least another 3 inches of snow today and more to come tomorrow. I'm soooo done with snow...moving somewhere warmer sounds divine!!! :) Have fun planning your trip!! FUN!

  73. Oh, girlfriend...move to Texas! I lived in Oklahoma until age 13 and I remember with horror the slushy, nasty snow melting. It's only great when it first falls. I love the warm weather here, even winter isn't too bad. The hurricanes are not so much fun, but lots of space here with a wide variety of temps and scenery from beach front to mountains. Hmm, a warm day with nothing to do? How rare would that be? LOL! I would go fishing with my hubby and read! I love the quiet and peace of being on the lake. Hubby says I would catch more fish if I paid more attention and did not read....AS IF! LOL!

  74. Your card is so fun & delightful! I got a kick out of it since the snow is still falling on your blog! LOL On a perfect day I would love to either play a round of golf or go fishing.

  75. Very cute card. If I had a warm sunny day off I would take a long walk to soak in all the beautiful nature and soak up the sun.

  76. Cutest card. and of course, love the coloring.
Love your question...I live in Hawaii, so on a normal sunny day, I would put on the air conditioner, and either be in my craft room listening to my ipod and creating something, or in the living room reading with my Kindle!!
Sorry you're so cold..it's been perfect here except for the rain.

    Warm hugs!

  80. Wow Suzanne! I love the colors on your new card!! Fantastic!
I have read "Pillars of the Earth" twice and also "World Without End"! I love Ken Follett and just received my new "Fall of Giants" on my new Kindle and can't wait to dive into it!
If I had a warm sunny day to do anything I wanted I would have to wade out into the Rio Grande for a nice day of fly fishin' LOL!
Really enjoyed the last few minutes of the chat tonight! I am looking forward to the next one! Get some rest! Praying for your family and mine!
    Big Hugs!

I just got up and it is 13degrees outside.....Brrrrrr not a fan of the cold either! I suppose I should be use to it by now but NO still don't like it.
What would I do on a perfect Sunny day I would have to say go to the lake and enjoy that sun :)

  84. Great card, Suzanne!
Cold here in Ohio, too, so on a wonderful warm sunny day I'd head outside for a nice walk, perhaps drive to Lake Erie and walk along the beach.

  85. Thank you for reminding me why I love the winters (actually from September through May) here in Phoenix. You will love Hawaii! We spent 10 days in Kauai this last year and it was wonderful. I listened to Pillars of the Earth on CD last year and loved it. There were a couple of icky parts but the overall story is so wonderful I am glad I keep with it.

  86. Hi Suzanne,
I'm so sorry you're unhappy with the cold & snow. Just keep that vision of Hawaii in your mind, and maybe Spring Break will be here before you know it!
I LOVE your coloring on this card, especially the blues! It reminds me of the beautiful waters of the Gulf of Mexico in Gulf Shores, AL and in Panama city, Gulf Breeze, and Pensacola, FL. I live near there in south Alabama, but don't visit the beaches nearly as much as I would like. In fact, that is what I'd do if I had a warm day to play...Go to the beach, soak up the sun, and read a good book! I've been to Hawaii, too. It is very beautiful, but I was a little disappointed after living near the sugary white beaches, to discover the sands in Hawaii were brown. It was still gorgeous, though, and a dream come true for me to visit. You'll love it!

  87. It is so hard to even THINK about sun and warm weather with all this snow and cold..but I put on my thinking cap and decided I would first go for a walk and then sit and soak up some sun with a bottle of ice cold water beside me....grab a book and read for a while, then head on in to make some wonderful "sunny" cards!! Sounds perfect to me!

  88. Your card definitely makes me think of summer, but it's too far away to be hopeful about it. In NE Ohio, they say it's like living inside a ping pong ball. It's really true though - you look up & it's just a grayish dome over your head for about 6 months.

The next county over is where they built an arsenal in WWII because it has the most cloud covered days of any place in the US. I definitely feel your pain.

But I'm not a beach girl, I'd much rather just sit outside & lay in the grass on a sunny day & watch the sky. Or sit on a lake (not the ocean) in a boat.

  89. I'm with you sister! .... give me a warm, sunny day, ANYWHERE, over these bitter cold, dull days! At least you have a trip to Hawaii to look forward to! Your card says it all!

On a warm, sunny day, I'd have my schnauzer Lily, strapped in the golf cart beside me and we would be going for a cruise around town! I love when her little beard flies in the wind! Here's looking forward to Spring!

  90. Your card is beautiful. I love the color combo. A perfect day I would spend my time making cards or sewing. Thanks for a chance to win some sweet stuff.

  91. I must say Suzanne, ever since I found your blog et al, I have never quite looked at a stamp the same way. You prove any stamp has possibilities.
To answer your question: I would simply find myself out in my little patch of paradise. I have a tiny urban garden both in the front of my home and the backyard. It was designed by myself with most of the heavy work provided by my ever so wonderful husband. I can make any sunny day, no matter how cool it gets up here in Ontario a day to be out there. I am a peace there with all the sights, sounds and scents. I love watching the birds, insects at work and visiting with my favourite little chipmunk. I always have a peanut or two available in my pocket when it comes to call. I study and learn from the colours/light sources/shading so I can apply them to my other creative side, thus being colouring with various inks and copics. I have a favourite saying, Life begins on the day one starts a garden! It is an old Chinese saying and if you know anything about gardening it is so true. There is some much to learn from a simple little earth. That is where you can find me most sunny days, except in the winter of course...but my little feather friends got a heated bird bath this year from Santa and they just love it!

  92. Love the card....make me want that summer weather too. I would go to the beach on a perfect day and I would actually swim in the ocean if it were 72 degrees or higher. I love swimming in the warm ocean. Thanks for the chance for some fun stuff!!!! Happy Reading!!

  93. What to do on the perfect day - well, I'd take the dog for a walk, drive with DH to Table Mountain (we live in Cape Town, South Africa), go up the mountain by cable car, walk along the top and down the other side into Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens where we would have a picnic lunch. Then on the way home we would stop off for a walk at one of our beautiful beaches, dipping our toes in the cold Atlantic Ocean. We would end the day at a seafood cafe dining on crayfish overlooking the ocean.

  95. Love the summery colours and the dimension created along with the added texture. As I look out at the cold pouring rain I am wishing for some sunshine. If I had a perfect day I would love to go a nice park and just stroll around all day and maybe go and get an ice cream cone.

  97. Your card is beatiful and bright. It has a great feel to it.

On a beautiful sunny day, I would take my grandson to the zoo. The zoo has a butterful garden and it is so pleasant just to stroll around and see all the animals.

  98. Suzanne,
I'm retired so I have all my days off to do as I want, lucky me it can get really lonely sometimes, but I usually make cards for 'OWH' or I go to the retirment home and make cards with the elderly that want to keep busy with their lives. Can't stop to feel sorry for yourself or you might just miss the best day of your life.

  99. Suzanne, This card and blog really made me smile. I have had a real change lately when it comes to blood and gore and have had to stop watching crime tv entirely. It just stays with me too long and makes me worry more about my children. I am focusing on positive reading and watching these days. Having said that a great book is hard to put down. My perfect warm day would be spent with my daughters and their new watercolor paints in the garden. I have been daydreaming about it since I added these items to their christmas list. I am in Delaware so we have a few months to go yet.

Yep, give me some sunshine and the wonderful fresh air...It makes me want to play in dirt...wierd I know...but..I love beautiful flowers and miss them so much this time of year :o(

  103. Oh, she's so much fun!

If it was summer, warm and sunny -- I'd likely be at our neighbor's pool, either swimming or lying in the sun while my kids swim. My daughter is a little fish and loves to swim, so we spend lots of time there -- thankful for such wonderful neighbors who allow us to use their pool.

Thanks for the chance to win! Stay warm!

  106. Love your card ..... great colors and layers. If I had a sunny and perfect weather day, I would be out on the patio taking care of my orchids or over at the beach sitting in the sun or walking along the water's edge. The nice thing about the San Francisco Bay area is that we have many, many nice sunny days. I would have a difficult time living in Alaska like my cousin where at this time of the year they have many long hours of darkness.

  107. love your card! and I am totally on board with you about the cold weather! he!he!

i would want to spend the day sitting on the beach at the waters edge with my newest scrap mags and a good book....just listening to the waves brush the shore and feel the warmth of the sun on my skin! and i can not forget about digging my toes in the sand! love it! ....if only this would be possible! lol

  108. My always plan for a sunny afternoon...my hubby and I going fishing at any of our favorite fishing holes. One fishing hole is sooo secluded. 2 summers ago, I was sooo hot, I cooled my self down by shedding some clothing. My hubby have laughed about that fishing trip sooo many times! Looking back, I can't believe i did it!!! There is a romantic fishing hole in SW Indiana...with my sweetheart!

  109. Your card is darling, Suzanne, soooo cute!!!

Read "Pillars of the Earth", and have to say, it was one of my favorite books of all time. Probably how your felt about Fall of Giants. His writing, as you know is so great, he takes you right there.... It was the best, never thought I would enjoy a book about medieval architecture so much, but I did! I have "World Without End" on my Kindle to read, just hate to pay the price for his latest when it's more than the hardback!!!

I'm lucky I live in a great West Coast city where it's pretty nice all year round, so for that sunny, perfect day, I love to do something with my daughter and her husband like go golf. I'm lucky that I can sit out in my yard a read anytime I want......

  110. My favorite way to treat myself is to head to the deck with a cold soft drink and a book. Then I fall asleep in the warm sunshine. Not sure why I always take the book...I never stay awake long enough to read it.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Oh if only...I would love to have a nice, QUIET, warm NOT hot, spot to sit and read for an entire day. I usually have to grab a few minutes at a time hiding in the bathroom for this luxury (and others, LMBO!!).
I read Pillars of the Earth last year. With my limited time, it felt like it took all year to get through it, lol. I did enjoy it though. I even have the mini-series from STARZ on my DVR still to one day try to watch.
Thank you for sharing the books you are reading. I have added some of them to my Kindle with hopes to one day get to them:)

  113. When it's warm out, we spend a lot of time outside as a family! So, I would love to be able to go out & play basketball or baseball with my boys!!! My youngest would go out right now (even though it's freezing), but I just can't function in the cold, lol!

Thank you so much for sharing!!!

  115. What a great card. Just love the colours you did her in. I can tell you what I did yesterday (summer in Australia) ... spent the morning at the beach swimming and digging a big hole. Then came back and read a book. Dinner was fish and chips on the beach! I've read Pillars of the Earth and while it is pretty violent I just loved the story. I've put all your other recommendations into my Wish list at Amazon

  116. Hi Suzanne - Hope I'm not too late! If I had the whole day and perfect weather to do anything I want, I'd pack my cooler and head to the desert on my 4-wheeler and do some exploring!!! Love it Hugs to you, Sharon :o)
