Folk Art Fun!

Happy TGIFriday folks!  Its the weekend whoot whoot..its been a long week! We have a busy Saturday picking out new carpet for the basement (due to the flood) and paint for the walls so we can get that underway.  And of course its SuperBowl Sunday.  This is the first time in years we haven't had a party or gone somewhere fun for that day...but I'm tired LOL. Sitting at home with a few friends and eating some nomnoms is about all the effort I feel like making this year.  Plus I don't care who wins although I am leaning towards the Broncos...last year the Ravens played so we had a bit more vested interest ;)

Anywho, hope you have a great weekend and stay warm.  I have some new posts on my other blog here in case you missed those...including concert pics from last weekend!

Today I'm using this beautiful digi "Folk Art Bird" from Carmen Medlin for SCACD. You gotta check out all these beautiful digis (oh the cats & whale are more of my faves)...so fun to color and use on all kinds of projects.  I wanted mine to look a bit like a Delft China piece so I kept the colors monochrome in blue and white.

If you came to my blog via Alaine then you are on the right track...scroll to bottom of post to see who to hop along to next!

My project was inspired by the beauty of Delft China

My papers are from Bazzill Basics...love these monochromatic color paper pads! The window frame die and small scroll is from Spellbinders/HeartFelt. I distressed most of my papers and image a bit. I layered some flowers and white cheesecloth in each corner.  And some pretty pearls finish everything off nicely.

Little Birdie is colored with Copics: B39,B37,B34 and B21.
Then I added some Stickles, pearls and white Sharpie poster paint marker.
I lightly stamped a text stamp around the image in baby blue as well.

That's all from me today...now you need to hop on over to

Have a great weekend!

A Mini Celebration Ride!

Happy Monday everyone & for those in the US Happy Prez Day!  Everyone is home today since its a holiday...its my cleaning day so that should be fun with a bunch of lumps in the house taking up space LOL.  Then I have plans to watch 2 episodes of Downton Abbey...cuz YES I'M OBSESSED..I FRIGGIN LOVE IT!!!  OMGeeee...we are only halfway thru Season 2 on Hulu so I'm trying to get done with it so we can watch Season 3 and catch up with the rest of the world.  But I don't watch a ton of tv, too much work and things to do so my tv time is limited(not to mention sports take up a lot of viewing time lol).  Plus I've been informed by "the family" that I cannot watch without them cuz' they are obsessed too LOL..yup even Riley & James although they wouldn't admit I'm sure ;)  Its like watching a combination of the best historical/fiction books I've ever read...like the stories have come to life on screen...amazingly well written and so good.

And Marti & I had a blast at the Love-and-Theft concert Saturday night!  We drove 3.5 hours South thru rain, sleet, snowstorms and trains to get there LOL and it was a good time.  Canaan Smith was their opening act and it was so good to meet him...he's an AMAZING artist, we've chatted over the past few years but had never met.  He has written songs for Jason Aldean, Love & Theft, and more big names but his voice is outstanding...so excited for him.  And I acted as his bodyguard for a bit LOL...some drunk lady was slobbering on him, GROSS.  Then I chatted with him on Facebook a bit yesterday after realizing I didn't get him to sign his shirt, geesh..such a nice guy and I hope he goes far, I love to see talented musicians make a break in the bizness...its hard stuff to do.  So if you haven't heard of Canaan you can see his big hit HERE (We Got Us) but he has new music coming out too that I'm excited about.  And below is a short video of him singing onstage with Love & Theft on Saturday night.   Next concert for me?  Why its my Luke Bryan...whoot...and Florida Georgia Line...and this gal has PIT TIX..that's right, I plan to be at the stage in grabbing range LMBO ;)  whoot whoot!

me & Canaan Smith Saturday night
(yes we had on matching black leather jackets lol)

Mini Celebration!!

Today is Mini Monday for Magnolia-licious....one of the new features we have is Mini Mondays which will feature a few DT gals every week showcasing the fabulous Mini Magnolia stamps. (On Wednesdays it will be Wee Wednesdays featuring Wee Stamps)  Make sure to check out my DT sisters Norma & Chris' blogs to see their projects today too.  And as always you can see them at the Magnolia-licous Challenge Blog too!  And make sure to check out the current challenge while you are there to join in the fun!
I created a fun set by making a card AND using a fabulous new product by Magnolia called "Doo Bee Pops"...and YES I love saying that name, its so fun ahahaha!  Its a crepe paper product that comes in many colors and the possibilities are endless.  I used mine to create an egg shaped gift tag to match my card.  (I have a lil' slideshow tut below of how I used it for you)

I'm entering this into the following challenges:

I used two awesome Mini Magnolia Stamps on my project...."Mini Circus Tilda" and "Carousel Horse"...I cut Tilda out & added her on the horse with thin dimensionals for dimension.  DO NOT LET THE MINI SIZE INTIMIDATE YOU....my card is the same size my regular cards are (5.5x5.5"), so I didn't reduce the size although of course you can.  But you can use them just like you would the larger stamps...fun part is that they are tag, envie sized too so lots of options to play with them.  So I used some MORE of those awesome papers from DoCrafts PaperMania "Bexley Black" but in the black/white combo this time....I'm tellin' you these papers are da'bomb'diggity LOL!  I distressed them up with my Distress It All machine and added lots of layers...I LOVE LAYERS :)  Behind the image I added some black tulle and a ribbon treatment...all attached with Scor-Tape..I cannot even say how much I adore Scor-Tape.  I use it a A LOT...esp in the 1/2" and 1/4" sizes.  The white scroll is a Memory Box Die border that I cut in half and added to each side of the image.  The sentiment is from PTI and I added a fun lil' pre-made gingham bow with a pearl in the center.

The images were colored with Copics: C9 thru C1 / E11,E00,R20 / E39,E31,E50.  And then I added lots of stickles to her dress trim, hairband and the horse's bridle/saddle.  Before I mounted my image onto the card I sprayed the entire card with the Maya Road spritz in pearl for a soft, subtle sparkle (I did on the egg below too).

So I love this Doo Bee Bop paper (see/order HERE just scroll down a bit)...I must get some more colors...whoot!  I cut mine with an oval SBs die...it doesn't cut thru the final layer so I just used my scissors to finish it off.  That was with my Cuttlebug so you may be able to cut all the way thru with a different cutter and/or die.  But it was easy to do!  The slideshow below shows how I put this together...there are so many fun shapes you could make and even go smaller than what I did.  **Biggest TIP for you is to make sure you place your die/punch so the lines on the paper are going horizontally NOT vertically ok LOL...yes I did it wrong the first time so trying to save you the trouble!**  I decorated with some tulle, flowers, gingham ribbon, a butterfly (made w/ a MS punch & pearls) and some trim to match my card...then a little tag with a PTI sentiment.  I think it can be used for many things but mainly I made it for a present topper or bag-tag.

Video of Doo Bee Bop Tut

This is just a picture of how I store my Mini Magnolia Stamps...you can buy the binders, pages & cards to stamp on at Magnolia-licious---they are 58% OFF right now so hurry and get yours.  Alexa stamped and titled them all for me this summer (as a paid job I might add lol) and it makes it soooo much easier to find what I need.  I may eventually re-organize them by Seasons/Event but not yet :)  You can see my original post on decorating my binder HERE too!

Have a great week everyone!

Plummy Perfect!!

Happy, Happy Friday to ya friends!! Aren't ya happy it's the weekend--I know I am, and for alot of us it's a 3-Day weekend for Columbus Day (LOL--didn't realize this until yesterday after my kids informed me they had no school on Monday--see how out of it I am lately, hee hee)! I tell ya, if I didn't keep sticky-note lists for every event & to-do in my life, I wouldn't make it--LOL! I have stickies everywhere--it drives my hubby CRAZY and he knows better than to move them or throw any away (I even stick them in my books that I'm reading if I have an idea). I draw little boxes next to my to-do's so I can cleanly check them off (yes, I'm anal that way, hee hee) so it's not messy looking. And my project to-do list is a mile long--tutorials, spreadsheets, Etsy orders, DT deadlines, etc. all listed on separate stickies in my office :o) I love it when I've marked off an entire sticky & can throw it away--and then a new one will appear magically it seems, LOL! My head swims with so much stuff on any given day (& thru the night) that lists keep it manageable for me ya know. Are you a list maker like me or is your brain an automatic spreadsheet that can hold billions of information, hee hee?

NewsBitz:

Plummy Sweet Easel Card

So today I have two monochromatic Magnolia projects for ya! I just love using Monochromatic colors on my projects--I think using different tones of color looks fab & kind of calming too. For this Easel Card I made I used the new Stampin' Up Razzleberry papers & cs--I really love this color combo although it was hard to match it with copics (I used RV69,R85,R83,R81,RV34). This fabulous stamp is from the Yummy for Your Tummy Collection by Magnolia and you can see all the cute, cute stamps HERE at Magnolia-licious! This lil' gal is "Peachey Tilda" but I made her into Plummy Tilda, hee hee cuz' I wanted her to hold plums and dontcha' love my lil' plum border (see below)! This card will be going to my grandmother who sent me homemade plum jellies that she made using plums from her yard this fall--I know she'll love it especially since it's her favorite colors (and made by meeee)!! This card is being entered into the Moxy Fab World Challenge--what is it, well you have to make something that's Plum Fabulous, hee hee!

I love, love making these Easel Cards--they easy to do & so pretty to sit up! You can find directions & a picture tutorial over on the Magnolia-licious Highlites Blog HERE & join in on the fun as well!
Here's a close-up of my Plummy Tilda--colored with copics, diamond glaze on the plums and some diamond stickles on the leaves & her lace trim!
I had to show you the little plums I made for the trim using pearls (Kaiser Pearls in Plum HERE) and then for the leaves, I punched green circles with my paper hole punch & cut them in half & glued them---aren't they cute! Sometimes I have small flashes of brilliance, LOL! The border was done with my Fiskars Border Punch.

A close up of the flowers--these are Prima Hydrangeas that I layered & then added a Prima rose in white. I painted the Prima cream roses with my Inspiration Paints (in Tutu Pink & Light Purple) so they would match & have a pretty shimmer (I buy lots in white so I can change their color to match whatever I'm working on). The leaves are made w/ my Martha Stewart leaf punch. I hope you love this card as much as I do--it makes me smile :o)

Second project is a Christmas Ornament I had made for World Cardmaking Day last weekend for the SCS challenge that Magnolia-licious hosted! I used a Winter Tilda from an older collection (I didn't see it in the Magnolia-licious gallery, but perhaps I'm blind, hee hee) that I really love. I colored her in blues to match this shimmery navy & white cs from Paper Trey Ink that I just love. I used my Spellbinders Pendant "Kaleidoscope" to create the layers for this ornament. The circle behind her was coated with some of my favorite Martha Stewart Snow Glitter and her lantern has diamond glaze on it for shine!

This is the back side of the ornament--I just die cut out the pendants and then scored them down the middle, folded them & layered them--attaching with Scor-Tape so it stays strong. Finished it off with a nice white bow to hang. Easy & fun to make!

Alrighty, I'm outta here for the day but will be back tomorrow with another project for ya, possibly a Mo's Digital Pencil or a fun new Penny Johnson image (lovee these)!! Have a fabulous weekend!!

Some Sunshine for You!!

Happy Saturday friends! Hope you're enjoying the weekend so far! We've had lots of rain(which we needed) & storms yesterday & today! I want to state that I HATE "Murphy's Law"--who came up with it & why does it even exist? LOL! I swear, I left the house yesterday afternoon & it was bright AND SUNNY! No sooner did I get to my 1st destination & it started pouring & thundering (the kinda rain you cannot see thru) & I got drenched! I get home & no later than a half-hour, the sky clears up & the friggin' sun came out! What gives, LOL? It couldn't have waited for me to run my 2 lil' errands, oh no--so I had to get new clothes on & re-do my hair & makeup for date nite w/ hubby, hee hee! And then what does it start to do AGAIN when we're getting ready to leave for dinner---yeah, you guessed it, it POURED AGAIN!! I was ready to just have a drive-thru dinner, lmbo! It was like a rain cloud was followin' me, I swear! Anywho, that's enuff about my exciting events yesterday, LOL!

****************************************

So today I've got some sunshiney projects for ya to chase away that rain-cloud, hee hee! Both of my cards were based around this fabulous wire ribbon I found at Michaels--I just lovee it! First up is this fabulous Lockhart Stamp Co. "Peaches" image! I even googled a peach pic to make sure I colored it correctly, hee hee--I love fresh peaches but not as much as my MOM, she has bowls of them every summer! I used PTI's fabulous "summer sunrise" cs & dp cuz' it matched the peaches so perfectly. I added some diamond stickles to that fun lettuce bowl & a few Bella Baubles in "oyster" to finish it up! The scalloped border is done w/ my SU border punch! Summer Fabulous!

Next card uses a fabulous new image from Stampavie done by artist Tina Wenke--she has such cute images--see them all HERE! And that sunflower is so much fun & matches my ribbon of course :o) I used some nut brown Flower Soft on the center of it for lots of texture. Some diamond stickles got in there too after I colored it up with my Copics! And can you believe it--I used NO PATTERNED PAPER on this card, lol! I just used cs from PTI & embossed the blue cs with my Cuttlebug "Perfect Paisley" embossing folder!

The sentiment is from a new PTI set "Autumn Abundance"--great set! Those fabulous sunflowers are from my friend Nikki's store HERE! Just 2 fun & fabulous summer invoking cards for ya!!
Aren't they cute? Love 'em!!

Alrighty I'm off for the rest of the weekend, hee hee---gotta get some rest! Have a great one!

(you can click on the pictures to make larger)

Today is Whatchadoin' Wednesday Challenge #27---and its to make monochromatic cards! I love to do this--such a pretty look me thinks! I decided to make some fun 4x4 cards using a bunch of different SUINK stamp sets! I made these with Valentine's Day in mind but actually these 2 cards can be used for lots of occasions! The cs, dp & ribbon is from PTI (makes monochromatic easy when you use products from the same company). The cupcake card uses 2 stamps from the "Sweet Things" set--I put a Bella Bauble (merlot) on top of the cupcake on on the bottom of card---simple embellies! The heart card was fun to make using the "Will You Be My Valentine" set--I took the heart image and stamped around the circle 4 x using the matching PTI inks (plum pudding & lavender moon) and added stickles to them. The "hugs" sentiment I attached with dimensionals after punching out w/ my SU word punch.

Well, I was just gonna make 2 cards but I was having so much fun that I decided to make 2 more--hee hee! This time for St. Patrick's Day obviously, using the new SUINK set "Blarney Stone". All the dp, cs, inks and ribbon are from PTI again (gosh I love their stuff & they're coming out with bags of buttons that match all their colors for $5--sigh, can't wait)! I colored the lil' leprachaun with Copics and then used my gold Spica pen to color the gold accents and ground! The second card uses the same technique as the heart card above--I just stamped 2 of the shamrocks around my circle and then popped the sentiment up on top! Easy, peasy fun cards to make!

Make sure and stop by the SUINK blog to see the rest of the DT's fabby projects too!

hugz,
Suzanne
