Beach Blanket Bingo!!

Hello everyone & a Happy Tuesday to you all!  Well I did my rain dance yesterday and guess what?  IT RAINED, lol--yay!  Hopefully we'll get another rain later this week and we'll be good to go for a bit.  I hate moving sprinklers around every 40 mins--what a pain in the rear KWIM!  I'm catching up on lots of work this week as I leave next Tuesday for CHA in Chicago with my pal Marti :)  But keep checking in next week because I'll have a few pre-posts and some newsies from CHA for ya as well that you won't want to miss!  We did get some stuff done over the weekend--I'm painting our front door so I got the color picked out and we picked out a new door handle, knocker & plate for the front door as well.  I HATE brass anything, so we're switching over to aged bronze which is my fave!  Our new lights are aged bronze as well so the front of the house will be spiffy and now we just gotta get the windows washed in August & we're good to go in the front.  The backyard makeover will be starting while I'm away at CHA so I hope all goes smoothly.  My hubby's mom is coming to stay with Alexa while I'm gone at CHA.  Riley is leaving this Saturday to go to New York with my mom and sister to visit my grandmother & uncle for a week too--so lots of stuff going on and lots to get done too, lol!

Beach Blanket Bingo

Today I'm sharing with you a Magnolia card I made for the Dare to Get Dirty Challenge that I'm hosting over on Splitcoast Stampers!  I can't tell you all the details but if you're a Fan Club Member (or want to become one see here) you can access my challenge thread HERE!  If you want to try out one or all of the 33 Challenges that the Dirty Girls are hosting this week then visit this thread HERE!  If you do do all the challenges (yes you can combine them, lol) make sure to put it on that main thread because you'll be entered for a prize!   ALSO: I will be LIVE on my challenge thread from 3 pm until around 7 pm EST so stop by and chat for a second--I'd love to see you there! This is a fabulous summer Magnolia stamp called "Surf Tilda" from Magnolia-licious--isn't she a cutie?! (there is a matching Surf Edwin HERE too)  I based this card on some fabulous older summer/surfer movies that Annette Funicello was in back in the day (I love old movies)!  Remember "Beach Blanket Bingo" and "Bikini Beach" and all those oldie but goodies (see here for pics)--well that's how I envisioned this card.  Equal parts summer, fun and elegance!  The dp is by Memory Box "Jubilee" and then I've used a fabulous Prima pearl swirl to emulate waves lapping across the card!  The white trim is done with a MS border punch and I added a few pale blue dew drops to the side--I thought they looked like water bubbles.

I colored this image with Copics but I stamped & colored the surfboard twice so I could pop it up for more dimension.  Someone asked me what pop-dots I use and my faves of them all are these that I buy in packs from Create for Less HERE (I like the square 1/8" the best, but also have the 1/16" for a thinner pop dot too)!  I buy the (Copics Used:  B02,B00,B0000 & YG25,YG01,YG0000/Hair-E35,E31,YR20,E50)  The surfboard got a coat of diamond glaze then when that dried I added a thin coat of stardust stickles to the top for extra bling!  The blue parts of her swimsuit also got stickles on them :)

Good morning fellow stampin' addicts!! Hopin' your having a good summer weekend so far. I'm not sure what we're up to today, because we're supposed to have storms and torrential rain all day--yucko! Guess that leaves the pool out, huh? We might go check out the 3-D "Journey to the Center of the Earth" movie, see if its any good. If not I'll be hangin' 10 (lol) in my craft room!

I made this card yesterday (along w/ a few others) for 2 more Dirty Girl challenges on SCS. One was a sketch and the other was to make a "scene" with your stamps. I really liked the sketch and I wanted to use another CC Designs stamp--this lil' surfer doggy is from the Itzie Inkies "Summertime Fun" set. All of the stamps in this set are super-cute!! The dp is from Autumn Leaves and I liked the softer tropical colors in it, not like the usual bright colors. I paper pieced his lil' swimmin' trunks w/ the dp and the rest of the image is colored w/ my Copics. I cut the image out and mounted it on dimensionals and created a "scene" by making an ocean w/ my Copics on another sheet of white cs. I coated his "wave" and the ocean with diamond glaze, and then once dried I added diamond stickles on top with my finger for a nice sheen. The dk organge cs is by Bazzill and the other cs I used is SU's soft sky, which I embossed with my CB embossing folder. I like this CB emboss. folder (D'vine Swirls) because it reminds me of waves. The sentiment is from Eclectic Paperie's Sushi's Favorite Words stamp set (check it out, they're cute)--I just put 3 together to make the phrase I wanted, punched it out and mounted it w/ dimensionals and added orange stickles around the circle layer. I wanted to add some fish to my "scene" so I stamped 2 different fishies from PTI's "Pond Life" stamp set in SU's pumpkin pie ink and then added orange stickles to their bodies for more shimmer. For a final touch I looped some ribbon from Michaels around the center and tied off. My doggy friend is "hangin' 10" for sure! I think this would be a "cool" birthday card for a young boy (have to check w/ my son on that--he he). Hope you like it!
