Just for Shoe!!

Happy Tuesday everyone! Well it snowed and we got about 6 inches and now I'm hoping it all melts away soon :o) We were lucky, my mom who lives 2 hours south of us in Maryland got a whopping 15 inches (still laughin---sorry mom)! She always teases me about getting snow & this time it was her that got pounded--hee, hee! Its supposed to be 60 degrees here this weekend--that's more my style! And in 5 days we spring the clocks foward---whoooohoooo---my favorite time of year. I love it staying light later, makes me feel like my day isn't over so soon---how 'bout you?

Welcome to "Try It Out Tuesday Challenge 8" for Susana's Custom Art & Card Design! This week's challenge was to use charms on our card & to use stamps by Susana herself. I used the Rubber Romance stamp "Melanie"--she's my favorite image of them all cuz' you just know she loves shopping as much as me, lol! I decorated her shopping bags & glittered up her shoes--such a diva. The sentiment is from Gina K's "Retro Boutique" set---perfect w/ this image! And isn't that dp stunning, its by Glitz Designs--I love the drama of it--matches PTI's "berry sorbet" ribbon & cs perfectly!

I inked up Susana's shoe stamps on Matte Shrinky Dink paper & shrunk them w/ my heat gun into small charms---I love to watch it shrink (the lil' kid in me still, hee hee)! I punched holes in them before I shrunk them and used my paper piercer to hold them in place and then strung them with black Scrapper's Floss! And of course they needed some Glitz Stickles to bling 'em up!

Make sure and stop by Susana's store blog "Follow Your Heart" to see the rest of the DT's fun projects today!

I also wanted to show you this great product I found at CHA that was recommended to me by some very nice Clearsnap demo's! It's called the Joy of Stamping cleaner and its made w/ all non-toxic products which I love! It takes off even the strongest of Staz-On Ink--cleaned my stamps up nicely and my dirty acrylic blocks too. You can get this cleaner & the hands cleaner at Susana's store HERE.

I inked up my cute lil' Smirk stamp with Staz-On black ink for this quick demo for you. The stamp cleaner has a sponge on the end and you just dab it on your stamp or block. It smells really nice, not like that Staz-On cleaner that is actually toxic & smells so horribly!

After sponging on the cleaner, I rubbed it on my SU scrub pad and ta-da---all clean! I love this stuff--non-toxic, smells good & a great value! There is a hand cleaner too that cleans ink off of your hands & moisturizes them too---works like a dream for all those smudgey fingers! If you don't have an SU scrub pad, you can get a Rubit-Scrubit pad right here that works wonderfully for all of your stamps--woodmounted, unmounted & acrylic!
Have a great day & see ya tomorrow!
hugz,
Suzanne

Stylicious!

Happy Saturday afternoon everyone! I hope you're enjoying your weekend so far. Can you believe its August already--oh, how the summer does fly by!! I am in a much better mood today after spending 5 hours fixing up my blog last night. What a stressful, mess that was--and it's all SiteMeter's fault (lol)!! But I'm not one to dwell on bad stuff, so I'm moving on....for now...no, really I will!!

I needed to make a quick card today to get my mojo back up to speed after last nite's fiasco (see I'm not dwellin') and this sketch challenge by Our Creative Corner fit the bill! Really a cool sketch, get over there and try it out for yourself--very versatile! I'm just lovin' on navy and white right now--my closet is filled with these colors this summer and I just think its so elegant and striking. Never can go wrong with this color combo, me thinks!

This card took me under 30 mins, so it's definitely not difficult to put together. I love, love this "Retro Boutique" set from Gina K. I'm not really a dress person, but I love to see them and I love how everyone in the 40's & 50's looked with these full skirts and beautifully patterned sundresses. I've tried them on but I think they make me look hippy :( oh well, maybe when I lose 15 lbs (he he he), so instead I'll just stamp with them!! I triple stamped this dress; first on white cs, then SU's night of navy cs and finally the dp by Sassafrass Lass (Serendipity-blue boutique). I cut the top of the dress from the navy and the skirt from the dp and glued them onto the white stamped image (Ya know how I love my paper piecing). I used my Copic Marker (B39 which matches SU's night of navy perfectly) to color the small band at the bottom of the dress. For a final touch I added a small pearl (love them) to the waistband. The navy polka dots on white was done with PTI's "polka dot basics" set and SU ink--I resisted using my CB swiss dots folder cuz' you're probably sick of seeing it (but I love it so much). I used my nesties for the circless and just popped everything up w/ my dimensionals. The sentiment was cut out with my nestie tag trio and wrapped with white satin ribbon from Offray. That's it--it's done! I'm lovin' it!

Hopefully no more computer issues for me this weekend! We might try and go to the Baltimore Zoo tomorrow with the kiddos since the weather is supposed to be nice. And thanks for all the sweet and wonderful comments you sent me about my new Guest DT position with Whiff of Joy--I so appreciate your support!! Can't wait to get those stamps and share with you!!

See ya around tomorrow and Enjoy your weekend!

Retro Dressing!

Good afternoon everyone! It's almost Friday & the weekend--yippee! We are going to my Mom's house for the weekend tomorrow and I'm really looking forward to it, but I won't be in my craft room for 3 WHOLE days (boo hoo)! I have yet to pack, because I like to do everything last minute (as is my way in life-hehe), but I'll get it done before everyone goes to bed.

My card for today uses the weekly sketch from SCS that you can find here. I don't always get to do the sketches over there but I really liked this one. I also got my brand spankin' new stamps from Gina K (finally, the mailman was tired of me stalking him-lol)!! If you haven't had a chance to check them out, take my word, they're really cute! When I saw the sneak peeks for this set "Retro Boutique", I knew it would be in my cart first and foremost! Love all the images (and there are lots--shoes, purses, etc) in it. I paper pieced this entire dress and purse w/ dp from Basic Grey(sultry) and cs from PTI. I stamped the shoe and perfume bottle (parts of a larger image)and then colored them with my Copics, cut them out & popped em' up w/ dimensionals--the purse is also popped up w/ dimensionals. If you look closely, the shoe and purse have small rhinestones (a muse) and there's some stickles thrown in too! I really like how these 3 colors play off of each other--very retro looking. The sentiment is from the same set and I added more rhinestones to the ends. Hope you likee!

I will try and post once more before I leave at noon tomorrow--depends on how fast I can get my brood (including dogs) out the door--lol! My doggies love going to grama's house-they get to run around with her 2 dogs and tire themselves out--its a mini vacay for dogs I think!!

See ya tomorrow--
Suzanne
