You're Just the Ticket

Today I'm sharing my Magnolia-licious DT Sketch Project for September Becca Feeken is our lovely hostess this month and she asked us to use our new Bon Voyage stamps from Magnolia-licious to create BOTH a card and either a mini suitcase or mini backpack.  This suitcase tutorial was created by me a few months ago and you can access it HERE--very easy & fun to make!  The backpack tutorial, DT samples and other challenge details are all on the Magnolia-licious Highlites Blog!

I chose a pink, brown and cream color scheme using new papers from My Mind's Eye to create both my card and matching mini suitcase that holds a gift card!

I used a fun stamp called "Flight Attendant Tilda" from the Bon Voyage Collection from Magnolia-licious but I altered her slightly so she looks more like just a gal ready to take a trip :)  In the actual stamp image she's holding the handle of her roll-on luggage but it didn't allow the other stamp (suitcase with sign) to really show up well so I cut it out (gasp, hee hee)!  But that left her hand empty so I took the "suitcase with sign" stamp and stamped the suitcase again concentrating on the large sticker at the bottom.  I cut the sticker out from the suitcase image, colored it with copics, cut a slit in her hand and slipped her new travel ticket in there.  Now she's ready to take a trip!  Remember that when you're looking at your stamps--sometimes you can cut part of the image out to make it useful for other occasions or events!

I'm also entering this project into a few challenges--I'm trying to get better about that because I love a good challenge but don't always have the time.  So for some fun check out Stampin' for the Weekend (anything goes--use digi/rubber stamp) and C.rafty E.mmas S.tore Challenge (anything goes) and Practical Scrappers (use white pen, my fave accessory me thinks) and my first time entering the Just Magnolia Challenge (where the heck have I been, lol)!!

Both images were colored with copics (Pinks-R22,R20,R11,R00/skirt-E43,E42,E40/sign-E25,E35,E31,E50/hair-E35,E31,YR20/skin E11,E00,R20)--I also used W3 & W1 to tone down the brightness of the pinks a bit!  You could also do that with your N or T grays as well!  Then I added stickles to her skirt and a pearl to her lil' bowtie for some pretty bling--a gal always has to have some bling KWIM!! LOL!  The scrolls are from Marianne Designs dies (told you I love em, hee hee), flowers from Wild Orchid and the border punch is by Martha Stewart.  The ticket die I have is from Tim Holtz although PTI has a great one too--the stamp is from PTI's fabulous set "Just the Ticket" (love it)!

I love making these mini suitcases (see my tutorial here)--they're super easy to make and so many different ways to decorate them.  I made sure to make it big enough so it fits a gift card, jewelry or other small treat very easily.  I just decorated the front with the same papers and embellishments as the card.  For my "nailheads" I used pearls instead and inked all the edges to make it shabby chic.

And just because I had soooooooooo much fun doing this project I'm gonna give a lucky someone two Magnolia stamps of their choice from Magnolia-licious AND a $20 gift certificate to Emma's Paperie (one of my FAVE places to shop for awesome papers!)!!  But you have to tell me "Are you a light packer or do you pack like me--you know everything but the kitchen sink, lol?"  & what you think of my project too if you want (wink)--answer by Sunday to enter!

I hope you enjoyed this post and I hope you'll stop by the Magnolia-licious Highlites Blog to see the other DT's FABULOUS projects and join in on the fun too!

  1. Hi Suzan,

I love you project, it's a great idea to pack some goodies :-)
And I love the colors and papers you used.
I'm usually a light packer, I don't need a lot of stuff when I'm on holiday, and I like to do some shopping, so I need some space left in my suitcase ;-)

  3. I just love reading your blog every morning when I get up (5:00a.m.). Your coloring is just so beautiful! I love the little suitcase box you made for the gc for this one. Just wonderful!

I'm definitely a heavy, heavy packer. I think I end up bringing home 5-6 OUTFITS that I haven't even touched.......lol I guess it's good to be prepared, but these darned bags get heavy!

  4. Oh Suzanne....your creativity never ceases to amaze me. Your blog is inspirational and I enjoy reading it daily. By the way, I always start out with "pack light" in my brain but it never works out. I always pack way too much because you never know...you know.

  5. I LOVE this project ... colors are beautiful!
Depends on where I'm going ... when I head to the States I pack super light on the way over but take as much luggage as allowed so I can fill up with goodies for the way back. On other trips around Europe I always pack too much :-( What if I need ... blah, blah, blah ...
    Have a great day!

  6. I love this project. Cute card and the suitcase is so much fun! Colors are great!

I have learned to pack light. Especially with all the new rules/fees involved in flying.....

  7. Love this project, I can see me making some suitcases very soon.
I am now a light packer after years of packing everything plus the kitchen sink.

  8. Hey Suzanne. Cute suitcase project! As for me, I think I'm a light packer (and I swear I am compared to how I used to pack). My husband thinks I'm a heavy packer, but that's from a guy who wouldn't mind wearing the same polo shirt every day for a week (if he could keep it clean). So, the true test must be how much I come home with that hasn't been worn -- usually several things, I think that makes me semi-light...

  9. Suzanne! Wow What a really cute project. The pearls were such a great embellishment and I love the color scheme! Thanks for the tips on the pinks and toning them down!
Ummmm, I am a super LIGHT packer. Sometimes this is good, sometimes bad. ha ha! I'm never the cause for going over the 50lb weight for sure. hee hee!

  11. Hi Suzanne, great news on your backyard, I am sure you and your family can't wait :). Love this little Magnolia, how cute and the suitcase, cute! Packing, well, I pack so I am under the 50lbs, but can still shop. I was a travel manager and traveled everywhere, but I always wanted to be ready for anything.

  12. Suzanne, Gorgeous card and I love the suitcase! I am definitely going to make one of them. Thank you for sharing the instructions!
As for packing...if I am flying, I will pack lighter so I am under the 50lbs but if I am traveling by car, I take everything! lol!

  13. I'm a heavy packer, my husband is amazed how I can always fit it in the suite case.

I just loved your project. The color combo is so pretty.

  14. What an adorable card and suitcase! Love the muted pinks - gives it more of an aged look to go with the rest of the card.

I am definitely an "everything but the kitchen sink" packer. I will pack things I haven't worn in years "just in case!"

  15. Your card and mini suitcase are GORGEOUS Suzanne.

I tend to be more of a light packer for me but a heavier packer for the kids. I never seem to know just how many clothes they will need.

Thanks for the chance to win.

  18. I LOVE everything you do and this one didn't let me down. She is soooo darn cute and thank you for the tidbit of thinking outside the box. I am a heavy packer, but I'm trying to be more of a light packer since airlines are now charging for the first bag checked, but it is so HARD! I never use half of what I take, but I still take it all...JUST IN CASE!!! Have a great day!

  19. Hi Suzanne, such a cute card and suitcase!! Awesome coloring as always. I'm a light packer but my DH likes to pack everything he owns!!! Seriously though, he has to have at least 4 pairs of shoes on every trip!

  20. Hi Suzanne,
your card and suitcase is just adorable as ALWAYS! Your work is so inspiring. I love your colour combo and that stamp is so cute!

I am traditionally a heavy packer, but am trying to become a light one. I can cut down on clothes but cannot cut down on hair and face products...cant seem to enjoy my time without the right products...sounds terrible doesnt it! But that is just the way it is with me.

  23. What a wonderful gift ensemble--I really like that suitcase and will have to try that.
I always have intentions of packing light but then at the last minute I end up shoving more stuff in and of course I usually do not end up needing them.

  24. Hi...Love your project & the colors you chose. I will have to try & make one of those little suitcases..too cute!
I really don't go any where but the few times I have I tend to bring more than I need..just in case. However this winter we went on an overnight trip & got snowed in. Wish I would have brought an extra pair of undies cuz you just never know! Lesson learned!

  25. I tend to pack way too much! I love the card and suitcase. Will have to try this.

  26. Hello

I love your projects you are so talented.... You are an inspiration.

  27. Gorgeous project Suzanne!
I am a super light packer. I always take mini sized versions of my products and pack the minimum and things that can do double duty. My friends and I still laugh at the time we went for a weekend at the spa......there they were with their huge suitcases (some 2) and I arrived with a small back-pack. They thought I was joking!

  28. Hello!

Beautiful set! I love the colors and the lovely flowers! The coloring is wonderful as always!

I try to be organized when packing and plan what I really need so as take as little as possible.

I read somewhere that some actress said she only took the necessities and purchased all her clothing, shoes, etc. when she arrived at her destination and then on leaving gave it all to a homeless shelter, etc. Wouldn't that be lovely, to be able to do that! :<)

Wishing you a good day today!

  29. When I travel anywhere I have to pack everything but the kitchen sink , just like you Suzanne. I rather have too many then too little of everything. I love your little suitcase too , you can use it for many different projects.

  30. What a super idea! Little suitcases, perfect for going away gifts. I pack somewhere in between light and the kitchen sink. I definitely always take more than necessary, but I don't go overboard with it. Recently found your site - love it!

  31. First, loved your project. I am going to have to try to make the suit case. What an adorable way to include a gift card. I wish I could shade like you do.

Second, I am a light packer, mostly because of my profession. I carry the bare necessities and if I need something, oh well, time to shop. I am also notorious for mailing stuff home because I dont want to lug it around for 4-6 days at a time. Thank you for the chance to win some goodies....I am stoked.

  32. First off, this card and suitcase are A-DORABLE! Going to print off the suitcase tutorial as soon as I finish here!

As far as packing? I am definitely a light packer, if I have a choice. I like to put everything in my carryon. Since kids though, that is a little difficult :-) Thanks for the chance to win some super stuff!

  33. I learned to pack just what I need. I got on a plane last year and barley made it under the 50 lbs. limit. Thant taught me to pack a bit lighter. I love your card and suitcase this week .It is so beautiful Rebecca

  36. I love your card and mini suitcase. Love the colors and textures that you used. I tend to be a heavy packer. I am trying to get better, so I don't come home with clothes that I haven't used. I take an extra nylon carry on for things I bring home after shopping. Nice to fly Southwest where they don't charge for two bags. Enjoy your new backyard this weekend.

  39. Sorry, I messed up the first post.

    Gorgeous work (as usual)!

I think I pack like you! When I first traveled to Japan for work, it was a 3-weeker. I packed everything under the sun that I "might" need. Bad move - train stations are usually underground (hey, nobody told me this - and that there are only regular stairs going up). My boss had to help me DRAG my huge suitcase up the stairs. He looked at me and said "whaddya have in here? ROCKS?!" "Um, my workout dumbells" (I never did tell him that I had more than one set - LOL!) HELLOOO...I never had time to work out once - too busy working and being a "tourist" on off-time. Needless to say, I never packed the weights again, LOL. I can laugh at it now, but I was stressing then EVERY time I packed for a work trip. But I NEED this, I really NEED this too. Oh, and I might NEED that. Nowadays, whatever I can "buy" at the destination site, I "try" not to bring LOL!

  46. Hi Suzanne! Awesome card and suitcase! I wasn't going to get this stamp, but now that I see how versatile she can be I might have to rethink it. I LOVE that you cut away the rolling suitcase and then cut out the little ticket on the suitcase...very clever! When it comes to packing I am a heavy packer! I can't help it...I always have the feeling I'm forgetting something so I keep adding stuff. Before I know it I'm right at the allowable weight (sometimes over, haha)!!

  49. I think the projects are great and I love the little suitcase - what a great idea that's a little different then just a decorated gift card holder. Unfortunately I think I'm one of those heavy packers - seems like I always have to bring a lot...curling iron, prescriptions, contact stuff....no easy task to pack a few things....

  51. Your project is soooo cute! That suitcase is so fabulous and I will be definitely looking back here to figure out how to color pinks.

I pack like you do! I always say "what if it gets cold, I'll pack a coat" "I'll pack a dress in case we go to dinner" "I need all sorts of medicine in case I get sick" etc... It's a wonder I don't go over the weight limit.

  54. I do enjoy reading your blog each day. This card and suitcase set is darling. What a fun way to give a gift card. I like how you used DP behind the figure...for some reason I don't think of using DP but always go for plain colors. Will need to try the DP! When I pack...it's usually on the heavy side (never know how the weather may change)unless it's for a "stamping weekend" then the heavy packing is all my supplies!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Hi Suzanne, how cute is the card and suitcase! Love your coloring as alway and thanks for the tip on toning down the color.
I use to be a heavy packer...shoes and purses to match every outfit plus all the extra clothes for my husband as well. Then it got to be a lot of work when I arrived home to wash the clothes we wore and the ones we had not. Now I pack just right...plus there are always stores if something else is needed.
Thanks for the chance to win!!

  56. How super cute is Tilda?? I need a comparably sized suitcase. You know, one that is bigger than me? I'm one of those people who packs for every known contingency - and then a few extra "just in case." And then I have to pack some sort of craft supplies, because otherwise I wouldn't have anything to do with my hands. So usually I've got at least one knitting project, a spindle with wool, a couple books to read, and now stamps, paper and Copics....

I should probably just bring along a pack mule.

  57. This is amazing, as are all your awesome projects!!!!! I am hoping to get to the classes at CHA 2011 in Anaheim. ( I am in CALLY, mid-state, Fresno). Anywhoo I am a medium size packer. I used to pack too much, then too little so I think now I am some where in between, LOL!

As for packing...I'm a total HEAVY packer...think I pack everything AND the kitchen sink! Hubby gets so mad...he always says we are going to get busted for our luggage being too heavy! Oooppsss a girl never knows what she wants to wear! lol!

  79. Hi Suzanne-I'm a heavy packer and always have been. I want to be prepared for anything that might arise and ALWAYS have WAY too much. Love the card and suitcase. You are so clever. I wouldn't dream of cutting a piece from a stamp, but when you mention other uses for that piece, makes sense. Thanks for sharing.:o)

  80. Just love the card and the Travel Tilda with the little extras. I love your coloring videos and try out the techniques you share. I am a "sorta" light packer. I try to make do on stuff but usually add one or two more things...which never get used after all.The Salsa Dog is funny!

  83. Hi,
Love Magnolia and her lovely suitcase. I pack it all. Just tonight I'm packing for 4 days and I had to pack all my Copics to color some Halloween Magnolia images I'm taking with me! Thanks for sharing!

  84. What a cute project! Love that mini suitcase - am going to check out the tutorial next!

I am a light packer for trips. In fact I am such a light packer I can pack for me and my 2 daughters in the same sized suitcase that my my hubby uses for just him! Hmm.. I think he must be a heavy packer!

  85. Love the little suitcase and card and how you decorated them! We have a second property that we often go to on the weekend and I try to pack EVERYTHING I would need to craft and always forget something. The last time was my coloring equipment. so I had to paper piece all my images that weekend. I normally take as much stuff as my car will allow. LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  86. Well I don't pack light, but now that you have to pay for suitcases if I were to travel by plane I would make it all fit into one suitcase, preferably a carry on.

    Lovely project!

    ReplyDelete
  87. Wow what a gorgeous card. Love the little suitcase. I don't travel as much as I used too but when I do I pack waaaaay too much! I never know what I feel like wearing in the morning and I like to have something to choose from KWIM? And shoes are the worst for me. Nothing less than 4 pairs usually.
And I'm with you. I am so sad at summers end. Today was kind of wet and gloomy and I already found myself feeling blue. I hate winter and cold and I live in the north. Wrong place to be for me! Have a great time in your new yard.

    ReplyDelete
  88. I pack light! Only what I need plus one extra of each. That way you can bring more back!! Love your card today!

  89. L am a heavy packer, I always take too much.......but you just nrver know!

  90. Your project is absolutely darling! Love your coloring on this sweetie of a Tilda. I really like how you used her for this project and omitted the little case she is pulling. She works so well in your scene.

I happen to be a packer of everything shy of the kitchen sink! Last vacation I packed some of my card making supplies and took them too. With all my girls we end up with sooooo much extra in our bags that my poor husband has a fun time trying to find a place for everything!

    Smiles!

  91. You suitcase is adorable! It's a gift all by itself! And that card is delightful! Your artwork is always pleasing & fun! I tend to pack a touch on the heavy side.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Gorgeous projects. Your coloring is always so beautiful. When I travel I am a light packer. I know we will always come home with more than we left with so I try to leave as much room as possible. Thanks for the chance to win. Love the dancing dog too!

  93. I really love your card and enjoy watching your videos!!! I am definately a heavy packer because I never know what I might need and so I pack almost everything which is always a mistake because I only end up wearing a small amount of what I packed!!!!Thanks for the chance to win!!!

    ReplyDelete
  94. I tend to pack light in the clothes department but I always bring too many extras. Apparently I need to bring my own hair dryer, curling iron, gifts for others.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Love the card and suitcase.

We travel alot. When the children were young, I packed a lot, because I was worried that I would need something and not be able to find it. However, as they became older, I started packing lighter. I can usually find anything that I would need if I don't have something even when we travel abroad.

My Mother-in-law packs very heavy and her bag is so hard to lift.

  97. Hello there,

Love, love, love that suitcase...so adorable! I like to pack somewhat light. I tend to take items that can be used more than once with me. Sometimes I pack my clothes in a smaller suitcase, then put that suitcase in a larger one so I will have lots of room for shopping. Thanks so much for sharing all your cards etc.

  98. Suzanne,
I just love everything about your card and suitcase!!!! Awesome!! I am famous for packing everything, even what is UNDER the sink AND spares to boot LOL. My husband is soooo glad they make suitcases with rollers now LOL. Poor guy!

  99. I can't wait to try this challenge! I'm not really a light packer, and now that my copics have to travel with me, my suitcases have filled up even more!

  100. Adorable card! Love the suitcase too! Who wouldn't love to receive that?!
I'm an over-packer! I wish I wasn't because I often get myself in trouble with how much stuff I pack and never use. I don't know if it's a security thing or what. But it's a habit now and I feel anxious if I don't pack enough. Even then, I still feel like I'm missing something. LOL! Yet I always end up lecturing myself when it's time to unpack that I really need to break that habit. Something tells me that I won't ;)

  101. Loved the project and I'm looking forward to trying out the suitcase. I enjoy 3-d fun! As far as packing goes, I'm packed up for the Labor Day weekend and there's nothing left in my house...including copics and inks, paper, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  102. I love the card and the suitcase too. To cute! And I'm afraid I pack way to much whenever we go away, even if it's for just 1 day. I bring half home not even used. Bad habit if we're flying. As costly. Keep up the cards. And have a fun long week-end. Edna B.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Oh Suzanne, I always love looking at your cards! You are so talented! As for traveling, unfortunately I don't get to do much of it. But when I do, I pack light. I love to go shopping, and I have to leave room in my suitcase to fill it up with whatever I may buy on my trip. My husband however may say the opposite. He thinks I pack to much. But hey, maybe he can get by with a pair of shorts and a couple shirts for a week. But us women need more than that! Come on! Get Real!

    ReplyDelete
  104. Really cute card!
I've always been a heavy packer and would come home with things never worn! Thru the years I learned a little trick - use a smaller suitcase!!!! Works!

  106. Hi Suzanne! Gorgeous card and mini suitcase! Such delicious colors and yummy embellishments. Oh, I think I feel a snack attack coming on...
Well, just ask my hubby, I'm a heavy packer. We just returned from a 2 month stay in our old stomping grounds in NW Washington state and of course I had to take almost half of my crafting supplies. Plus I always end up taking way more clothes than I end up using and tons of books. Of course, I always buy more when I get there. Yes, more papercrafting stuff, more clothes and more books! LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  107. OMG, Suzanne, this card is so darn cute and clever!! You are too creative for words, how do you get anything else done with your blog and card designs??? I wish I could be YOU!!!!

When it comes to packing I'm trying to be better and pack (what I consider to be) lighter, but I'm afraid I go by the old Girl Scout rule of "Be Prepared". I pack for any kind of possible weather situation, even if they've been having a 4 month heat wave!!!

    ReplyDelete
  108. Thanks for the great instructions for the suitcase, just loved it and plan to make more! Thanks for sharing!!! Love your projects. The dusty pinks and beiges are so pretty together! Your work is always awesome and inspiring Suzanne!!!

  109. Hi Suzanne, It's stunning, love how you change the luggage to ticket, great idea.
I learn the hard way about my packing, so now I'm officially a light packer (that is so I can shop a lot, wink wink)
    Hugs, Irene

  110. I am soooo drooling over your projects Suzanne! The colors and design are stunning :) I've gotta make one of those adorable suitcases!

I am a medium packer haha. I try to pack light, but I know that I'll need my necessities like my blankie (no lie!) my books, my ipod lol! So even though I can usually take one suitcase, I have two or three other tote bags filled with my 'necessities' sigh... but you know, I'd rather pack something and not need it than to leave it home and WANT it!!!

    Happy Friday my friend :)
    Love and hugs ~

  111. I'm a packer - because....what if you forget something? I usually regret it because I end up lugging way too heavy a suitcase! Will I never learn! LOL! In Hawaii - if you take a trip - the custom is to bring back little gifts for all your officemates and co-workers. Love that cute little suitcase. I wish mine was always that light and easy to handle.
thanks for the chance to win!

    ReplyDelete
  112. First, I of course LOVE your project. Always do!!!! The soft colors on this one are so beautiful. I would say I am more of a light to medium-weight packer, at least for myself. Now for the kids I try to plan ahead and bring anything they may need! That usually ends up being a HEAVY packer. You never know what a little one or a teenager may need! Thanks so much for the chance to win.

  113. Much to my husbands delight, not!, I am a heavy packer! LOL When we go on our weekly family vacation I take everything but the kitchen sink! :) He would rather pack light and buy things if you need them, but I can't stand wasting vacation money on things I know that I would already have at home!

Love you blog! Always starts my day with a smile! ;)

  114. Oh Suzanne, this is just adorable!! I love the card and that suitcase is just too cute! I am going to give this a try today because it will be perfect to give my daughter who is turning 30 and we are having a big birthday bash for her this weekend!! I hate to say it but I am a HEAVY packer. You just never know what you might need and rather then go without I bring it all with me!! My husband always tells me I PACK too much stuff!! Hahaha oh well better safe then sorry.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Oh, I am definitely a heavy packer! It doesn't end with me....I pack all my girls' luggage with more than enough-just in case! I was once a Girl Scout, so "Be Prepared" is my motto!
I love the little suitcase! Thanks for the tutorial!

  116. Hi Suzanne! I love your project! It's awesome how you thought outside the box to make the stamps work for you. I love your color choices and especially how you have the card and matching case to hold a gift card. What a perfect gift for almost any occasion. I am trying to absorb all your Copic lessons so I can make projects as nice as you.
What kind of packer am I?? I am an overpacker to the maximum. It is not in my genes to pack light or know ahead of time what I will need. I try harder these days after paying magabucks in extra fees due to over weight luggage, but it is HARD and I am and always will be genetically an over packer. Thankfully I have my husband and daughter standing over my shoulder making sure I don't go too overboard with my over packing! ~Nancy

  117. I think I am more of a medium-weight packer. I make a list of everything I will need during the trip, and then just the things on the list + one extra set of clothing goes in my bag. I learned the hard way not to over pack. We were staying in Toronto 7 years ago when the East coast lost power for a couple of days, and I had to lug a very heavy suitcase down 10 flights of stairs. Never again!
Speaking of suitcases - yours is fabulous! I'm going to have to make some of these for gift packaging.

  118. amazing projects Susanne, adore them both x

  119. I love your card! I watched all 5 of your new hair coloring videos! I always learn something new, so thanks! I am an over-packer. I am so worried I won't have something I need. I am so bummed out by all the luggage charges they have today!

  120. Fantastic project. Absolutely love it! I've been away from blogland for a bit, I can see that I've got a lot of catching up to do. Can't wait to take a look at the videos!!!

I'm awful when it comes to packing, I do take absolutely everything. On my last holiday I couldn't fit any craft stuff in my bag, so I grabbed a backpack and filled it with stamps and my copics, easily weighed 8lbs!

I'm a heavy packer. Thanks for a chance to win.

  122. As always Suzanne your project is beautiful, coloring flawless and color choice is fabulous.

As for packing........ I am just the opposite, I try to pack light thinking I won't need it all and then I get there and have to wear my husbands shirts, PJ or sweatshirts cause I didn't bring enough! I guess you could say I am not an organized packer. :)

    ReplyDelete
  123. I am a very heavy packer! I'm learning to thin it out cause my hubby keeps threatening me that I'm going to have to handle my own suitcase if I keep it up any longer. We come from Hawaii, so I'm always putting some goodies that the kids like!
Love your project..coloring is awesome. GORGEOUS.

  125. Very cute card with gift holder! I'd definitely like to make some of these!

I'm a heavy packer and to avoid spilled mishaps like you had, I pack all toiletries in a separate suitcase. ;)

I remember a time when my kids were little and I was packing for a trip very concerned with making sure I'd remember my bridesmaid dress for a wedding I was in. I didn't realize until I got there that I'd remembered my dress and everyone elses clothes but forgot to pack any other clothes for myself. :-O

    ReplyDelete
  126. Well I used to be a heavy packer when my kids were smaller and at home but as the years evolved and soon just became me, I decided all I need is a good pair of walking/running shoes, clean socks and undies and a comfy pair of jeans and a sweat shirt. I don't travel much anymore mostly because I like to be alone with my books or art supplies, go for an evening run and others want to shop or eat til they drop. I do carry a small case with my pens, paper and preprinted images to color and that requires more thought than what to wear.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Unfortunately, I am like you and prepare for every kind of weather and occasion! I don't go over but I have to weigh my bags at home before leaving for the airport and remove or redistribute things so the bags will be w/i weight 50 lbs.

    ReplyDelete
  128. You project is amazing as always!!I LOVE your work!
I am definitely a heavy packer...
Hey, you never know what shoes you may feel like wearing on a given day!

  129. I love your projects!!! What a clever idea to put the "ticket" in Tilda's hand. Looks great! The suitcase makes such a lovely gift card holder. I can't wait to try it.

I'm a heavy packer. I don't want to get caught without something I need or want. :) You never know when something unexpected will come up. Thanks for a chance to win this awesome candy.

  130. Suzanne, of course I love your card and the little suitcase (I'm a light packer by the way), BUT, that video of the dog had me laughing so hard I had tears coming from my eyes. Thanks!

  131. Very creative use of your Tilda image. I haven't worked up the nerve to start cutting my stamps up yet, but gonna have to try it! Beautiful card and mini suitcase. I am a "pack everything including the kitchens sink" packer, too! Always want to be prepared for whatever may come up, but the lower weight suitcase limits has really put a cramp in my style!

  133. If I had my choice and I don't have to pay for luggage at an airport I would probably pack like Rachel Zoe! Do you watch her? She brings her closet and every shoe she can think of. That is my problem SHOES. I would probably go naked as long as I have the right shoes to wear! Ok most people would not want to see me naked but you get my point!

I think your project is adorable! I truly love the way you altered Tilda, very creative. She looks like a jet setter and ready to go! I can not wait to attempt your suitcase tute!

  136. Hi Suzanne, I laughed out loud as I read your friday blog entry. It described me to a tee. I was actually upgraded to a first class seat on a return flight from London because my bag was detained by Customs for weighing too much!
Love all your creations. Thanks for chance to win blog candy.
P.S. Good luck with your landscaping.

  137. Hi, Suzanne-

I love you blog and often wonder how you manage all of what you do?!?!
With all the activity on your blog, postings, videos, projects...you find time to go to jim (admire you so much for that too).. and oh, yes, family with 2(OMG) teenagers. Your cards are true masterpieces and inspiration.
almost forgot about packing: I take all I can and more:in case of what if it will snow in Mexico, and I pack tonns of warm close for all of 4 of us(2boys), or what if kids would have ear infection, get sick or else..so I pack all possible meds, or what if our first set of close will get all wet and we will have nothing to wear, so I pack extra for all..
We end up not using a half of what I got, kids just laugh, husband silently groans, and I just do the same thing next time.
Thank you for sharing, I hope to meet you some day in Seattle, Olga

  138. Hi Suzanne, first let me say that I love your project. It is so gorgeous. I have got to get this image. Secondly, I have become a very light packer. With all the charges for luggage on the airlines you have to be. I went to chicago last weekend. Normally I would have had to heavy bags for those few days. But, not now. I used a light weight bag and took three tops for the each of the four pairs of capris and pants that I took. 1 skirt just in case. 2 pair of shoes and the niceities that we all have to have . There was a time I would have taken 7 to eight complete outfits and shoes for each of them. (smile) I love clothes and accessories.
    What great candy you have.

  139. I absolutely love these Suzanne and I made my own little suitcase last night so thanks for the tutorial. Mine ain't a patch on yours though but I will be making more of them.
I try to jsut take what I think I'll use for holidays when packing but my hubby takes waaaayyy too much and doesn't use half of it!! See, it's not just a woman thing lol!

  140. I am one of those "too" light packers. I am trying to be more realistic about how many outfits you might need for a trip to, say, Hawaii, but ended up wearing things twice on more than one day. For DH and I to arrive for a 10 day trip to Kauai with ONE shared suitcase and a carry on, should have been my clue!

I do LOVE your work and am inspired with every trip to your blog. I have watched every video more than once. I am self-teaching copic coloring and REALLY hope you might come to Arizona and teach!

    ReplyDelete
  141. Ahhh, love the card and the suitcase! BUT . . . for myself I would need two suitcases as I tend to overpack. I always worry I might get to cold or to warm, so pack for multitudes of different weather, even if only for two days. I know, Bad, but I am never without the right clothes when I get where I am going lol. Thanks for the opportunity to win!

  142. Hi Suzanne, So much talent I can hardly stand it. The color combos you use are breathtaking. I will have to try my feable attempt at the suitcase gift holder...adorable!
I have 3 walk in closets in my turn of the century house and generally pack like I am moving in...at least that's what my grandson's say.
Your backyard project is super and I love, loved, the salsa dancing dog. You make visiting your site such a pleasure and a chance to win candy too? I told ya, I can't stand it !!
Thanks for all you do for this inspiring stamper. Hopefully you will visit the Spokane or Seattle area in Washington state so I get a chance to meet you and get some smarts in coloring with my Copics.

  144. Oh Suzanne, they just keep getting better all the time. This is amazing - both parts of it. I know I am too late for your packing contest but decided to answer any way. I pack way too much - and this greatly distressed my friends in England when I visited in 1995 with three suitcases, and saw how little their car was. We made it, but not comfortably! It is always better not to need everything you take, than to need something you left at home and cannot find locally (I remember some crazy rides around Washington, DC, across all those crazy zones for cab fares), trying to find the special soap I had left at home.
