Newsies & Holiday Break!!

Well hello all my fabulous friends! LOL--I've been gone awhile haven't I--geezzzzz!  Did anyone miss me?  NOT--lol!  Well after 3.5 months of travel and over 120 hours of teaching Copic classes I am DONE until the end of January!  I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of teaching and meeting everyone that came out to my classes---I thank you all for joining me and I hope I have helped you LOVE & use those markers even more now!  The classes in Canada and Buffalo were wonderful, the weather was beautiful (aren't I a lucky gal) and I really had fun.  Below is a picture of Niagara Falls from my Canadian hotel room--when I arrived this is the view that greeted me along with that beautiful rainbow! Quite a welcome dontcha' think?  I also got to spend some time with my grandma and other family which was really nice--but after 6 days away I was definitely ready to come home.  No place like home right?  For anyone looking to take classes with me I will be updating the site (www.cmcroad.com) & my calendar next week with a WHOLE LOT more locations and dates for 2011 so I hope to see some of you there!  If you need some recommendations or referrals I know most of my students would gladly give you some info :)

view out my hotel room in Canada of Niagara Falls--beautiful huh?

I am taking off from yesterday thru next weekend to recharge my batteries (mojo), rest a bit and spend time with family.  Hubby and I are off for 4 days to belatedly celebrate our anniversary and his upcoming birthday and then it's Thanksgiving.  Not my most favorite of holidays but always nice to spend with family.  Then I'll start putting up the first of my 10 Xmas trees, hee hee---hoping the weather is nice so we can go hunt our real trees soon as well.  Christmas is my FAVORITE time of the year--bring out the mulled cider, holiday tunes and trees and I'm a very happy gal :)  I'm NOT a Black Friday shopper though--NO WAY JOSE!!  I HATE crowds, lines, looking for parking and the crazy peeps that are out (no offense, lol)--I prefer to shop in my jammies and online KWIM.  So I will NOT be out shopping that day that's for sure!

Something else I'm obsessed with is MUSIC--I love to listen to all kinds! But my favorite song right now is by Sugarland called "Stuck Like Glue"--it is AWESOME!!! And highly addictive to listen too, lol! I call it me & hubby's song :)---although the video is a little stalkerish, lol (I'm NOT like that but I love the lyrics)! See video/music below!

Some New Newsies for ya:

-Blog Candy below for ya :)

-SCACD had 2 AWESOME mini winter releases last week featuring new Elisabeth Bell and Victoria Case stamps for SCACD!  You can check out these new winter cuties HERE & HERE!! You'll want to add them to your collection for sure!  Also SCACD has a new Facebook Page that you can join & keep up with the DT, new artists and releases and products==see HERE!

-7 Kids College Fund has some new goodies in stock as well!  CC Designs has some super pretty holiday stamps HERE and new dies as well that I NEEEEED, hee hee!  And oh boy those new Inkadinkado stamps are calling my name as well (uh-oh I'm in trouble, lol)!!

-If you haven't checked out the NEW Magnolia-licious Challenge Blog you need to hop over there!  2 challenges each month with fab prizes!!  And hey, let me know if you like the header banner okay?  I created that, hee hee---it was so much FUN!!

-What is Suzanne reading on her Kindle app on her Ipad (hee hee)?  NEW from one of my favorite authors Kate Morton "The Distant Hours" (she wrote one of my fave books last year called "The Forgotten Garden") so I'm really looking forward to the new one.  I'm also reading "Cleopatra-A Life" by Stacy Schiff which is REALLY good and eye-opening I tell ya (hint: she married her younger brother---ewwwww, lol)!

And if you didn't hear the news straight outta Gina K's mouth on Monday--you can read all about it HERE!!  Yep, that's right---I'm now part of Gina K's DT (not the card club kit anymore)!! Yippeeeeee!  I feel so blessed to have been asked out of the tremendous talent out there and I am really looking forward to this new venture.  Gina has been a huge mentor for me since the beginning and I just adore her and I am thrilled to be on her DT--I'll be starting in January though since I'm taking the month of December off :) so look for projects then.  I'm sharing some below that I had previously done for you to peruse if you want to see!

To CELEBRATE I'm going to give someone a $20 Gift Certificate to Gina K's Store for leaving a comment today!  But you have to answer a question of course, lol--
"If you were given $100 bill what would you do with it?".
Answer by Monday on this post for entry!!

**Don't forget to check out her awesome NEW RELEASES as well right HERE---they are gorgeous, cute and must haves!!  And she has the NEW Paper Pads by Basic Grey HERE (curio, marjalaine & jovial) as well--whoohooo!**

This card I made for our first issue of "Through the Craftroom Door" this past spring.  It uses the Gina K Set "Sending Sunshine" (aren't daffodils so cheery)

A card I made for my hubby for our anniversary!  I love this Gina K set "Farm Life" because you can color the trees for any season (wouldn't it look cool for spring and winter too?).

I love, love this beautiful holiday set by Gina K called "Blessed Season"--gorgeous images to use!

One of my fave shabby chic cards using the Gina K set "Botanicals"!

Hope you enjoyed the post and I'll have something new up for you on Monday 'kay!!!  Have a beautiful weekend!!

  2. Welcome back Suzanne! Enjoyed meeting you in Greensboro. As soon as I get more colors I will try to follow you to the "dark side", hee hee!
Twice in my lifetime I have been "given" $100. Once by a doctor who gave me my check back after a procedure and again by a boss. Both times I was encouraged to pay it forward. So I would probably give it to my dear friend that is battling Stage III breast cancer to help with gas money to and from radiation.

  3. If I had someone give me a $100 bill, I would buy a Kohl's gift card for my ex-daughter-in-law and give it to her for her birthday coming up (which I'll be doing anyway).

    Great creations, as usual.

Thanks for the opportunity to win.

If I was lucky to receive $100 free, I gotta be honest I would buy craft stuff!

  6. Beautiful cards Suzanne. I too am walking "on the dark side" LOL You had to be there everyone to understand. LOL

For the $100, I would like to put it toward 100 lbs of food to celebrate the weight loss I have had from my highest ever weight and give the food to our local food bank.

    Hugs,

  7. Welcome back and enjoy your mojo rest & family time. Glad it was fun & enjoyable. Congrats on the new DT spot. You are one busy gal and I am so glad you are doing something you enjoy! What would I do with a $100...either put it in bank or fill my son's gas tank and get a latte from Starbucks!!!

Keep WA in your sights for a class...we would love to have you come. I will even drive down to Portland if you are there! It's only about 2 1/2 hours!

  8. Welcome back and congrats on the DT position! I love Gina K stamps too. Somehow I thought you were a part of her team somehow because I know I've seen your cards w/ her stamps b4. $100...hmm, I would take my family to dinner somewhere special.

  9. Oh Wow!! WTG Suzanne!! I love your creations and you are definitely an asset to any DT!!! You ROCK Girlfriend!! I couldn't be happier for you!!! What would I do with a hundred dollar bill! 10. Congrats on your new dt position. What would I do with $100. Gee there are so many possibilities - give to one of my dds who always seem to be having money problems lately but I wouldn't be able to decide which one. In all probability I would spend it on stamping supplies.

  11. Suzanne, thanks for sharing the beautiful pic in Canada where you were staying. That is breath taking to say the least! I am super happy for you on the news of being a part of the Gina K. DT. That is fantastic! You certainly do deserve it with all your talent!

To answer your question about the $100, I would say my answer would be honestly, as much as I would probably want to go crazy and buy supplies for my card making, I would feel more satisfied giving it to my parents. They are struggling financially in the worst way and have for a long time, so I would give it to them so they could use it to buy or pay what they needed to.

Thanks for allowing us to answer this question, and thank you again for sharing your awesome news! Congrats!

    A fan,
    Kari Webster

  13. Wow, great news today. Really enjoyed the catch-up. The song was great but you're right about the video:) Congrats on joining the Gina K. team. Her store is FAB!!
Now, being it's that time of year, if I was given $100, I would donate it to the Salvation Army as they get baskets for the needy ready for Christmas! Gotta pay my luck forward, don't ya know:)

  14. Welcome back, Suzanne and congratulations on the DT! I would think every company in the world would be knocking on your very talented door!!!
A hundred dollars.... I'd like to say I'd be charitable and donate it to a wonderful cause, but I know the minute I had it, I'd have my two little grandchildren picking something special out at the toy store!! And then I'd be kicking myself all the way home for not saving it!! LOL!!
Have a very Happy Thanksgiving, not my favorite holiday either, mine is also Christmas!

  15. Welcome back oh weary traveler!! Love the photo from your room...great inspiration.
Congratulations on the DT! Well deserved, Hoping to see CT on your list for next year!
If I got a $100 bill I would probably put it towards: dinner with a couple of girlfriends or our local Destination Imagination group. Fun to think about.
    Have a lovely Thanksgiving!

  16. Welcome back, you were missed! That was an awesome picture out your window in Canada - TFS! If I had a $100 bill, I would send it to my sister in L.A. She had her last chemo treatment a few weeks ago with Stage 2 ovarian cancer. I've always looked up to her and she has been incredibly strong - her faith has kept her going. I would send it to her to go on a medical bill - or maybe a beautiful new scarf to cover her beautiful bald head!
    Thanks and happy crafting!

  17. I love your Gina K creations. I have a ton of her stamps and love them a lot. And use them a lot too. What would I do with $100? First I'd buy something special for my DH for Christmas and then I would use the rest for Copics or Spellbinders (my two favs right now!) Missed your chats! Glad you had a good time teaching!

  20. Suzanne,

I so enjoy your blog and miss you when you are "gone". I learn from you every time I read about your cards and see the wonderful projects you make. You are very talented and it shows. Congrats on the Gina K DT position. You deserve it.

If I had $100 given me, I would give 1/3rd to the Christmas offering at my church, take my hubby out to a steak dinner(We have been married 45 years), and buy that Gina K daffodil set. My BD is in March and daffodils are my birth flower. : )

    Happy hugs, Martha

  21. Congrats on being DT for Gina!! Just love her too!! Your card is beautiful. If someone gave me $100 I would give half of it to the food pantry in my town, some to my Church, and if there was any left, a set of stamps!! I love stamps!! Thank you for sharing!

  22. I love all of the gorgeous eye candy including that fabulous rainbow! Gorgeous! Congrats on the Gina K DT post!!!! WooHoo!

If I was given a $100 bill, what would I do? Well, my youngest daughter has been on total bedrest after 4 weeks of hospitalization since her 19th week of pregnancy, so I would give it to her to buy some things for the baby since they have been stretched to the limits. She feels so blessed being pregnant after trying for almost 6 years, but her FMLA is over this week even though she's only 33 weeks along, so she also won't have a job to go back to. Prayers have got her this far along, so maybe I should be asking for 100 prayers instead of 100 dollars!

  23. Welcome back Suzanne and congrats on your new DT position. If someone gave me $100 or any extra right now, I would give it to the homeless gentleman and his dog in a nearby town. I always see him and talk with him and slip the envelope in his bag, because if you try to hand him anything (unless it's for his puppy), he politely refuses. So, I look for him and take dog food and treats and slip the envelope into his bag. He's a kind gentleman and loves his puppy more than anything! Sorry to be so long winded.

  24. Welcome back! Wonderful creation! You are so talented! Okay, if I were handed a $100 bill, I would split it with my fiance, with my $50 I would sign up for your first class! The reason that I would split it with him is because he is the reason that I am creating today. As a child/young adult I was consistently told that coloring was a waste of time and moeny. Michael, my fiance has changed the kind of thinking and now I am creating everyday and selling my creations! I wanted to thank you for this chance to win! Happy Creating! Sara

  27. Welcome Home Suzanne. Glad you had a great visit with your Grandma and family and that you had a successful trip. Beautiful cards as always. I don't blame you on the Black Friday thing. Worked in retail for 18 years and believe me when I tell youthis...There is NOTHING that ANYONE is selling that is worth the bizarre behavior I have witnessessed on that day... Good grief...
Anyhow..The $100.00 thing.. Either COPICS or IPad fund... Sorry, I probably would not give it to charity as I do that on a weekly basis. I think it's about time for ME!!!!

  28. Welcome back yes we missed ya! Glad you have been having fun. Gosh if I had $100.00 I would want to clone it!!! Then I could take your class,go shopping for stamps, get a maid and cook so I could stamp all the time LOL LOL LOL

  34. Well if someone gave me a $100.00 bill I'd most likely use it to help pay my rent for work since I just had major back surgery and will miss at least 6 weeks of work or more. I lease a space in a Salon and will still have to pay my rent even though I have no income coming in.

  35. Welcome back and congrats on your new DT position with GinaK. If I had $100 given to me I would no doubt run off to the nearest scrapbooking store and spend it. LOL Sorry, I have a addiction to scrapbooking supplies - can't control it.

  36. WOW, congrats on your new position at Gina K, how exciting and well deserved. you are amazingly talented and so inspirational, I always look forward to your new creations.
HHHMMMM, if I were given $100, I would definitely spend it on craft stuff. Probably some new magnolias, paper, and copics is what I would spend it on. Although, I am known to go overboard, so I probably would end up spending over my $100, since there would probably be an offer of free shipping of $150 or more or something like that, and also have to buy some nesties or magnolia dies!!!! I always find a reason to spend more on craft supplies. But, as I tell my hubby, I use it ALL, and LOVE it all, so it is worth it ALL!!! LOL

If I had a $100, easy, right now I'd send it off to be split between my two grandsons. Actually, mom and dad probably could use it since they just had the last one, and my daughter-in-law was off early with pre-delivery problems, so there were some unexpected adjustments to the budget.

  63. Welcome back! We did miss you, lady. I am delighted to hear there will be more classes and locations next year.

Now, to answer your question: If I was given $100 I would sign up for an online class with you! I have referred several people to your tutorials as I have found them so helpful to me with my experimenting and self-teaching coloring with copics.

Can't wait to see this year's Christmas decorations.

I hope you have a nice break now because Im sure after the holidays you will be going non-stop.
Thanks for the chance to win.

  67. That is such a cute song, but what a creepy, creepy video!

$100--sounds funny, but I'd buy my cat a new larger wooden storage bench to hide her cat box in the hallway. (My DIL cuts a hole in one end for Karma to get inside.) The old one is 5 1/2 years old and desperately needs replacing--was just checking them out online yesterday. ROFL!

  73. Hi Suzanne, hope you enjoy your days off, look forward to seeing your new creations!
If I had $100 I'd treat my DH to a nice meal out somewhere as its been such a long time since we had a wee treat! (... or I could always just get myself some crafty goodies - I'd love a wee sewing machine LOL!)

Congrats on the DT news. I love your work and I am now inspired to learn how to use the Copics (I swore I would never get sucked in but..... You pushed me over the edge.
OK I I had a $100 bill, normally I wouldn't even hesitate to say "pay a bill". But it is the Christmas season and now all extra funds go to gifts or providing Christmas to needy children or families that wouldn't normally get a Christmas. OH OR I could provide meals at the ladies homelss shelter here in KC MO - there are so many children with there moms there. SO many wonderful choices and only 1 invisible $100 Bill. Thanks for the food for thought.

  76. Congrats Suzanne! Looking forward to working with you on the GKD DT. You have been incredibly busy and looking forward to hearing if you have a class in 2011 down here in Greensboro, NC. 78. Congratulation on your DT membership. If I had a $100.00 bill at this time of year, I would give it to our local Humane Society. The animals need a little Christmas as much as anyone else does. I try and send something each year even if it's just a few dollars.

  79. Congrats! I would use the money to buy supplies (GinaK stamps would be great) for our church card ministry.

  80. Well there are so many things I could do with a 100.00, donate it, christmas shop, dinner with my family, or buy stamps, which ever way I chose, I would make the right desicion in the end,

  82. Tons of ideas in my mind for using that $100.... My bills are paid, I have food in my cabinets and a wealth of crafty items that I could probably never use in a lifetime. I am blessed. Even though there are a ton of things I "want"...I would probably donate it to charity for those who are less fortunate than I am....

  84. If I was given $100.00, I'd give it to our local food pantry. I don't need it and there are many who do need food. Pretty simple I know. But I know it would get put to good use.

  85. You are one busy girl! I wish you'd come down under and teach a class. ive learnt stacks from your videos.
If I was given $100 I would head straight to my local craft store . Or maybe I should buy Christmas presents? hmmmm.... na!!! Craft store it is!! lol

  86. all the cards displayed were nice and one or two made me want to get to the work station to create! If I was so blessed to receive a $100, it would probably go $25 for church, $25 to Heifer.com either towards livestock or a loan to a woman to become self sufficient and then maybe a little something for me from my craft wish list!

  87. Suzanne, I LOVE GINA K's stamps, and I have a few. I'm very excited to see your card designs using her stamps. Yeapee!!! If I had an extra $100 right now, I would buy Copic Stetch Markers. I've watched all your copic tutorials and I fell in love with all your techniques and color combos. I have about 30 copics now, but need so many like pinks, purples, reds, and greens.

  88. Congrats on the DT gig at Gina's ....I was so thrilled when I saw that!!! If I had $100 - I'd spend it in Gina's store - there are SOOOOOO many great stamp sets I'd LOVE to have from there!!! :) Thanks for sharing that video. Great tune - but yeah, the video is a little odd - still fun though!!! Enjoy your holiday!! :)

  89. What a great person to add to Gina's team of very talented people. Congratulations!

If I were given $100 to spend on myself it would have to be on some new markers. More than likely, it would be spent on things for Christmas tho.

  90. Congrats on your new position with GKD, as soon as I saw that you were selected I was so excited for you and Gina K. Love your cards and as always your coloring is outstanding. If I was to get $100 I have to be honest and say I would most likely buy more stamps, copics and nestabilites.

  91. Congratulations on being on Gina K's design team. Looking forward to seeing your creations and Copic coloring.
If I was given a $100 I would take a class to learn to use my new digital camera ( gift from my kids) so I can take nice pictures of my cards- Barbara

  92. Suzanne,
Thank you so much for giving back to the Fisher House. I am currently at the Bethesda Hospital with my own Wounded Warrior. I really think it's wonderful for you to let people know of this wonderful organization.
