Reflections!!

Hiya & a Happy Sunday to you all!! I am super busy working on stuff's to share with you all this week so looks like I'll be spending the day inside, in my craftroom and on my laptop, lol! James and Riley are going to some RC Plane show today here in VA so they'll be having some fun outta the house!  Last night we went to a Nighttime Fly In for RC Planes--yes, you're asking "what the heck is that?", LOL!  Well my hubby and son's hobby is building and flying RC planes of all sizes (keeps 'em out of trouble, hee hee) and last night one of the local aeromodeler's clubs had a night time event where you could fly your RC planes when they're all lit up pretty with LED lights in a local park.  So we headed off to see the planes flying--its like very large UFO's or fireflys flying thru the sky all at once---pretty cool and they had a blast.  They want to fix up one of their planes with lights so they can fly in it next time.  Gotta support their hobbies too KWIM!

BTW, I have to give a head's up to my husband (who could be reading this--hi honey, lol)!  He is just the best hubby a gal could ask for---he supports me in EVERYTHING I've ever wanted to do.  Even in the middle of the night when I'm nudging him and starting off with "I have an idea.....", LOL which I seem to do A LOT!  He always tells me to go for it and if it's something I really want to do then I should find a way to do it.  He is a BIG part of me being able to go on the road each month to teach the Copic Classes--without him standing behind me I would never be able to pull it all off.  He's the one who told me to "GO FOR IT" and gave me the extra push I needed.  So I wanted to thank him publicly for always, PATIENTLY putting up with my crazy ideas and supporting me every step of the way!  I LOVE YA Honey--no one better out there I tell ya than my hubby (at least for me, hee hee)!!!!

NewsBitz:

-Want to know what the heck I'm talking about when I say I'm going on the road?  Read this POST HERE and visit the new website HERE (www.cmcroad.com)!  The website will be fully up & running on Monday and you can subscribe to receive new updates about dates & locations I will be traveling to.  I'm setting up schedules as we speak so lookout USA here I come, LOL!

-Also, I started a fun NEW Copic challenge group on my Color Me Creative Classroom called CMC Copic Challenge Group!  It's a bi-monthly challenge for everyone (you only need to join the main classroom at www.scrapbitzcopics.ning.com to join the group--its free) to have some fun, meet friends, ask questions and for goodness sakes show off those awesome Copic skills (and win some prizes!)!!!  So come see what it's all about, we'd love to have you!!

Reflections

Today is the 15th of the month so that means another Copic Creations Challenge!!  This time we are concentrating on reflections in water, mirrors or other reflective surfaces.  This technique can be tricky so you have to be careful about how you do it---best way is to look at some pictures (or real life images) that show off reflections.  My classroom "Color Me Creative" is the sponsor this time for this challenge---so if you join in on the challenge with us you could WIN a free Copic Online Class of your choice!!  In the Copic Class 4 we concentrate on coloring reflections in one of the videos as well :)  Find out all the details of this challenge and see the rest of the DT's gorgeous creations at the Copic Creations Challenge Blog HERE!

**NOTE--my blog goes up before the Copic Creations challenge blog posts so keep that in mind if you're an early birdie!!**

I chose to use this beautiful digi image by In Style Stamps from their A Day in the Life Collection--she's called "Daydream Girl" and she's one of many beautiful digi stamps they carry!  I used papers from Cosmo Crickets "DeLovely" and the green cs got embossed with one of my Asian CB folders (cherry blossoms).  Bow was done with my trusty Bow Easy and then I added a Prima Flower Center Jewel to the center (great for bows) and finished off with a few rhinestones.

And of course the image was colored with Copics!  I chose to do a subtle and soft reflection on the water below her and the bridge.  I softly colored in her feet lighter than her skin tone because the water would mute it quite a bit.  Then I shadowed under the bridge and added just a bit of soft pink (RV10) to show how her dress would be reflected as well.  This image is really fun to color!!  And I had to add some stickles for bling to the landscape in the trees, bushes and water!  The sentiment is from a PTI set I have on hand--I love the font!

This is another card I did awhile back, you may remember using a different kind of reflection--this time its a mirror.  This image is also by In Style Stamps and she's called "Dance Girl"--since my daughter did ballet for so many years I have a soft spot for all things ballet :)  I kept the mirrored reflection muted so not to take away from the main image---you can read more about this card on this POST HERE!

Now don't forget to stop at the Copic Creations Challenge Blog to see the DT's projects and to join in! Remember you can win a FREE Online Copic Class with my Color Me Creative Classroom---I'd love to have you!!

  2. Suzanne - I forwarded your information to Sharon at Buffalo Stamps & Stuff in Buffalo, NY. Sharon is the owner and she recently hosted Tim Holtz for 2 days of his classes so I know she can do a great job for you. She has access to additional space besides her store classroom space. In addition, she draws a lot of Canadians to her classes since its so close to the border! If you haven't been to the Falls yet it would be a great side trip for you. Have I convinced you yet?
Hope to see you soon! Lynn Wigren

  7. The RC night sounds like fun!!! DH built model heli's for a bit. We've gone with a friend who builds 6 ft RC planes to watch him take them up. So cool to watch, but I think I cringed the whole time knowing how long it took him to build and hoping it didn't crash. LOL!

    Beautiful card!!!

  10. Beautiful card Suzanne, fabulous layout and gorgeous papers.Love the cute image and the wonderful gentle colouring.
I went to my local duck pond to look at reflections in real life and from different angles, I think people thought I was a little strange, should have taken some bread for the ducks I suppose, but definitely the best way learn as you suggested.

  11. Hi Susanne. Both of your cards are just GORGEOUS! I just love the way that you color and I am so hoping to get the chance to learn from you in person... My 12 year old Madison loves to use her Ciaos and if we get the opportunity to take your class I have already promised her that she could take it with me. To say the least she is so excited to see what happens. (I think we both are.) Have a great week. Hugs, Lisa G
