My Biggest Blog Candy Evah!!

Happy Wednesday everyone! I'm happy to be back & hopefully you're happy I'm back too, lol! And I'm back with a huge contest for ya too! Well, over the weekend I exceeded my 50,000 hits by alot, hee hee--you crazy readers!! And thanks to all of you who stop by and visit, perhaps gleaming some inspiration from me and enjoying what I do--Cuz' now I got BLOG CANDY to GIVEAWAY--YAHOO!!!
***WARNING--This is a SUPER LONG POST--so read to the end, okay!***

So here is the big kahuna of all my BLOG CANDY giveaways evah--& I told ya it was Christmas themed! And the most exciting part of this giveaway is that apron stamp by the fabulously talented Karen Lockhart. She colored the front of the stamp and signed it--how FABULOUS is that cuz' she never does this, evah (except on a very few limited edition stamps)! This is a one-of-a-kind stamp that will be a keepsake for sure (and she made me one to boot, am I a lucky girl or what). She also designed the butterfly button for the lucky winner too! Susana of Susana's Custom Art & Card Design was able to get these for giveaways from Karen Lockhart so make sure & visit her because she has one up for grabs too--you can have a SECOND CHANCE by joining her store email list so get over there & sign up already!!

So here is what you get if you win:

-1 Karen Lockhart Apron stamp, signed & colored by Karen

-1 Karen Lockhart button

-1 tin of Prima poinsettia flowers/holly

-1 roll of ribbon

-1 Copic Atyou Spica Gold pen

-1 bottle of Christmas Red Stickles

-1 6x6 Basic Grey "Wassail" paper pad (LOVE IT)

-2 packages of Christmas buttons/charms

So how do you enter? Leave me an answer to my "random question" & link this blog candy to your blog (if you don't have a blog, just spread the word okay :)) & let me know you linked!

My random question (which I love to ask) is "What is your favorite Holiday song of all time & why?" You have until this Sunday, 11/9 at midnite (EST--my time) to leave me a comment on THIS POST ONLY! Then on Monday the 10th I will pick a winner by random.org & announce it on my blog (please leave me an email address if you don't have a blog & don't answer anonymously or I can't get a hold of ya, 'kay).

Remember to take advantage of a second chance to win a signed and colored Karen Lockhart stamp & some Copic Spica pens--please visit my friend Susana's webstore, Susana's Custom Art & Card Design--she has another signed apron stamp by Karen Lockhart up for grabs for a lucky someone. You can also purchase Karen Lockhart stamps from her store and lots of other fabby things too!

In honor of this fabby blog candy, I created this fun holiday project using my Karen Lockhart stamps! I stamped my apron first and then paper pieced almost all of it with this delish, yummo dp by Stampin Up called "Holiday Treasures" that might be my most favoritest holiday paper evah'!! I also used Karen's "Itty Bitty Christmas Border" to stamp around the corners and then went over theberries & boughs with my Copic Atyou Spica pens in clear & red (btw Susana carries these fab pens by the set or by themselves if you're interested). The yummy cider recipe (I love cider & Starbucks Caramel Apple Cider is the BEST evah', but I also make my own too) came from my Gooseberry Patch Christmas book that I printed onto my PTI vintage cream cs with my computer. And this is actually a card that you can give or just use as a recipe card--the reciever gets to decide! I'm making some of these for my kid's teachers along with a glass bottle of cider--such a fun gift!

The box is called a blessings box and you can see the tutorial (by Angie Juda) here--very easy to make & fun too. This box holds my cider mix that I made & then put in a cellophane bag. I used my "Holiday Treasures" dp by SU again too. The "homemade" stamp is from PTI's "Holiday Treats" set. The only change I made to the box was to use my SU "word punch" to make handles at the top so I could tie it shut with ribbon. And the exciting part of this project is that you can WIN IT!! I will choose a second winner on Monday and they will recieve this gift set and a few stamped images (surprise images)!!! So make sure and enter, cuz' ya never know!!

And today is also Whatchadoin' Wednesday over at Storage Units, Ink and More! Make sure and check out their blog for all my DT sistah's fabby projects. We were challenged to use our newly released stamps to make a scene. I used my new "Deer Ole Santa" set for my scene. I also used my brayer for the very first time (GASP)--I love to see everyone make these gorgeous backgrounds but have never attempted it thinking I wouldn't be able to do it. Whaddya think--I think it turned out pretty well for my first time & it wasn't hard at all :) I used SU's glossy white cs and 3 blue inks in various shades--the stars were made with my Ranger Inkssentials pen. I cut my house and Santa out after coloring them with Copics and attached them to the bg. I stamped my trees and the sentiment in Night of Navy ink right onto the bg. I used my DecoArt SnowWriter for the snow and then added some stickles to the snow, sled & trees. That beautiful shimmery, navy paper is from PTI and I used my new Martha Stewart snowflake border punch on the edges. This card reminds me of my favorite holiday story "Twas the Night Before Christmas"--whatcha' think? Check out all of SUINK's new sets if you haven't already--they're super cute!

Ok, final newsies of the day--The Stampin Place is having a huge sale right now thru November 9th (25% off all stamps, 15% off stampin' supplies) so check it out! And check out my Whiff of Joy DT sistah Bev's Blog Candy--she has a "Santa Charlie" to giveaway along w/ some other fabby goodies! Also I had to say that my Hot Cocoa Box was given an Honorable Mention on Paper Trey Ink's blog by Nichole Heady--this is my second honorable mention so maybe the third time's the charm to win, hee hee!

And that is the end of my longest post 'evah, lol!! I will see ya back here tomorrow with some more projects to share! Hope ya voted yesterday if you're in the US--I'm happy for the chance to vote and I hope our country will soon be on the upswing again & I'm glad Barack Obama will hopefully be leading us towards that (and that's it for my political musings I promise)!
hugz,
Suzanne

  8. What wonderful and generous blog candy!! My favorite Holiday song is: "I'll Be Home for Christmas" because I was an Army wife for many years and this song would remind me that my husband was with us if only in our hearts. He died on active duty, and during the Holidays this song reminds me he will be home for Christmas if only in my dreams

  10. Ok, I can't even top Linda T's favorite song and why...so I won't even bother. But I wanted to compliment you on your beautiful Santa card with the brayered background. I, too, have brayer anxiety. But as in so many other ways, you have inspired me...so I will have to give it a spin!

  11. Oooooooooooooh I hope I win! So only picking one Christmas song is pretty hard for me...as I am that person who will bust out the Christmas CD's a couple days every month. Here are my top 3(one is just too hard...as was three!)
~ The Christmas Wish by John Denver & The Muppets
~ Merry Christmas Darling by The Carpenters
~ The Muppet Christmas Carol Album (love the whole thing!)

  14. What awesome and generous blog candy! It's hard for me to choose just one favorite Christmas song because I loooove so many of them. Christmas music season can't come soon enough for me. The song that comes to mind is sort of an obscure one by Carly Simon called "the night before christmas" I love the line in it, "'Cause you don't have to be an angel to sing harmony and you don't have to be a child to love the mystery" Ohhh now I can't wait to start listening to my holiday tunes!

  15. My favorite Christmas song varies, but these are my top 3: Silent Night, Away in a Manger, and O Holy Night. I love to play these on the piano (I'll only sing when I know I'm alone LOL).

  16. Love your blog! Your projects are great! My favorite Christmas song would have to be the Charlie Brown Christmas theme. Reminds me of childhood and how excited we would be to see the special on TV!

  17. My favorite Christmas song is "O Holy Night." In my hometown, we'd go to the Christmas Eve church service and a man and his son would be up in the different balconies (one in the back of the church and one on the side) and they would sing this as a duet. It was so beautiful!

  19. Wow! What an opportunity! YOu so rock! My favorite Christmas song is "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Clause" because it's so sassy and she doesn't even realize it! I had that 45 record and played it over and over and acted it out. Oh, I was something on stage (in my bedroom!)! But I love all the Christmas music. The season is absolutely wonderful and renewing. Thanks for inspiring us and for the great opportunity. I'll be around for the next 50,000! I'm listing you on my blog candy sidebar on my blog at http://stampingtink.blogspot.com. Thanks again!

Its just not a real holiday for us parrotheads without it. Guests think we are off our rocker, but we have so much fun and now that there is a new younger generation, we keep passing on the tradition.

Thanks for the chance to win such a great blog candy. Congrats on all the hits!

  81. Hi Suzanne, I stumbled upon your blog after visiting Summers blog. I love your blog... I'm new so I'm still learning. I linked your site and candy from my blog, and now for the fun part.... The songs, I love the idea of answering this type of question. Not many people that I've seen do this.

I think I have 2 answers... First and foremost, is my all time favorite Christmas Hymn. It's "Silent Night" I never really knew just WHAT it was about the song, but the peaceful feeling it always gave me. The words and the tune. Not to mention when I was just 8 years old learning to play piano I learned Silent Night fairly easy. Now..... For my 2nd answer, I have to say "Let There Be Peace On Earth" by Vince Gill... Oh what a beautiful song, so crisp and clear, and it's a duet with his daughter, and she's just so talented at such a young age. Oh well, I guess I'm a little mushy! LOL But there you have it - Both of my favorites!

    Here is my entry

Thanks for this awesome chance to enter!

  83. WOWZERS!! I'm in L♥VE with your CUTE APRON stamp/ recipe card/bag...that's my favorite SU! paper too. Hmmm, well, there are lots of fave songs cause it's my absolute FAVORITE time of year, and I could say "O Holy Night" 'cause I had to honor to sing that on several occassions as a guest singer in High Schoo/college, but ya know what? As silly as it may seem, my favorite song is "Grandma got ran over by a reindeer" because my dad used to sing that when we'd go visit my g-ma and she was just the most modest, conservative woman ever and her face would turn red and she'd get all *shocked* when he'd sing it. Good memories. :)

  84. What a great candy! And a really good question too. My favorite is Bing Crosby and David Bowie's Drummer Boy/Peace on Earth duet. Beautiful! That old coot could sing. ;) And Bowie, well, I never really knew much of his stuff at all until the movie Labyrinth. But it is an incredible pairing.

And you girls who post more than once are big cheaterheads! ;)

  85. Wow.. I'm loving that blog candy!! I linked to you on my blog :) and to answer your random question... my favorite song is "Oh Holy Night". We start them on their journey upstairs and everynight someone in the family moves them closer to where we keep our manger. It's fun and helps us keep the feeling of Christmas. Also baby Jesus doesn't arrive in the manger until Christmas Eve!

  174. Such great goodies, but you know, as a collector of old aprons, that one's just got my name on it! :o) I hate to be the party pooper, but your dates aren't right! Sunday is the 9th and Monday is the 10th. Thought you'd want to know.

My favorite Christmas song is Silent Night because it has such great memories. At our former church, before we moved a few years ago, our Christmas Eve service always ended with everyone lighting a candle, and all the lights being turned out except those on the nativity. As we sang the song, row by row, all the candles would be blown out, leaving only the nativity shining in the lights. Then we would quietly leave the church in such a sweet spirit of love, peace and joy. So wonderful! It always just MADE my Christmas.

The first year I moved across country before I was married, my father died on December 5 and I didn't have enough money to go home for Christmas after I went home for his funeral. I listen to this song and get teary, in a good way though!! Kathy

  183. Picking a favorite Christmas song is just about impossible!!! I'm going to choose TWO because I really don't know, and I love so many. One is The First Noel. My middle name is Noelle and so I've just always loved that. The second is Silent Night. My mom used to ask me to sing that to her over and over when I was little!

I have a blog, but it doesn't really have any craft stuff on it...just me stuff...and I have NO idea how to "link" to anything!! Lol

  184. This is such a wonderful give away and I feel excited about entering. I know this is an oldie but I love Oh Little Town of Bethlehem because it is what Christmas is really about. It's a very peace-filled hymn too.

  186. Thanks for doing this! My favorite Christmas song is Christmas Shoes by Newsong because it reminds me not to be so hurried in life that I can't make time for the people I love. Life is not guarenteed. The song makes me cry everytime I hear it. Here's a link to the youtube video if you've never heard the song before. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNsvE33pRSw&feature=related

  190. Wow, it is so hard to pick a favorite when I love so many Christmas songs! The oldies such as Silver Bells, White Christmas, Rockin Around the Christmas Tree are all some of them, and then the Faith Hill song, Where Are You Christmas? just melts my heart also.

I would love to win the candy you are offering..my oldest daughter has been wanting an apron and so I think an apron with a homemade recipe card set and recipes from mom would be a beautiful gift for Christmas for her his year. When she was little I had several aprons I would wear...I lost them moving when she was about 6 years ald and she doesn't remember them, but has a fondness for them, as I do, and I think that is why lol

Congrats on the blog's success..I am a subscriber and have been telling others!

  191. Suzanne, You never cease to amaze me! Absolutely beautiful! My favorite Christmas song...if I absoluetly HAD to choose between the 354 that are on my ipod right now, I guess I'd have to go with The Christmas Song, Nat King Cole. Or maybe It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas, Bing Crosby. Or Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree, Brenda Lee. No, maybe A Holly Jolly Christmas, Burle Ives. Or Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Harry Connick Jr. Ummm, what about Sleigh Ride, Ella Fitzgerald. Or What Child is This, Vanessa Williams. And I like The Best Gift, Barbra Streisand. But really and truly, White Christmas, by Bing Crosby ......OH I GIVE UP ALREADY!!! Does this mean I'm disqualified?! = )

  194. Oh my goodness! What fantastic candy & how generous! I sure hope I win! I've linked you at The Paper Freak.

My favorite Christmas song has to be "Silent Night". Every time I sing it, (especially if there's 3 or 4 part harmony going) it fills me with such a deep and calming reverence. It makes me so glad my Lord and Savior came to Earth.

  195. What a great candy!

My favorite holiday song is "Zie ginds komt de stoomboot" for a Dutch holiday "Sinterklaas". I like especailly the sound of the shiphooter. The song is about the ship in which Sinterklaas comes from Spain to Holland.

I'm going to leave a link on my blog.

    With love from Holland!
