Beachy Wedding Bells!!

Hi All and Happy July 1st (and Happy Canada Day to my Canandian friends)! Wow--did June fly by quick or what? Do any of you (here in the States) have plans for the 4th of July? We're going to do some fun things around Hilton Head Island during the day and then camp out on the beach in front of our beach house that evening to see the Fireworks over the ocean--can't wait! So a few of you guessed correctly that I had changed my hair, lol---but nope I didn't cut it or color it but it did suddenly get 6 inches longer, hee hee! I have the WORST time growing out my hair and I have tried & tried but I cannot get past that awful growing out phase. I always end up chopping it off because to me there is nothing worse than spending a bunch of time in the salon or bathroom fixing it--arghhh! I'm not much of a salon girl and I go every 4-5 months and that's it--so I decided to get some extensions to get me thru that phase! Hopefully this way I will be able to get it long enough to not have to deal with layers and weird curly cowlicks, lol--we'll see! But I like it so far and it doesn't take me long to do and I can air dry it, which is heaven to me!!  Me and the blowdryer DO NOT get along well, lol!

Long post below, so read carefully cuz' there may be some "sweet candy" mixed on in!! :)

NewsBitz:

-Yep, that's right--I'm a BIG pushover, lol!  I am extending my Summer Special at the Color Me Creative Classroom here until the END OF JULY!  Enough of you begged (hee hee) and I have no problem doing that--but after July 31st this special will go away until next year.  So if you're wanting to learn how to master Copics then hop on over and register for a class!  Take 2 copic classes and get $10 off, sign up for all 4 Copic classes and get $20!

-The winner of the Gift Certificate from 7 Kids is "Jan Castle"!!  Please email me right away so I can get the gift certificate out to you!  Thanks to everyone who gandered a guess!!

-The July/August issue of the "Through the Craftroom Door" will be sent out over the next few days via email if you've ordered the pdf edition.  If you subscribed to the paper copy, they've been mailed and you should be expecting it soon!  Hope you enjoy it!

-Today is also Challenge Day for two fabbo companies---Susana's Custom Art & Card Design has the TIOT Challenge #74 posted HERE ** AND ** Paper Romance has their Thursday Challenge HERE!  So go be challenged, lol!

Beachy Wedding Bells!

Since it is the 1st of July that means it's a new Magnolia-licious DT Sketch Project to share with you.  This month I was the hostess and I challenged the DT to create these fun Stand-Alone Pop-Up cards using a great tutorial from SCS HERE and they're all SUMMER themed!  You can find out all the details on this month's sketch project and how to join in the fun (AND WIN) at the Magnolia-licious Highlites Blog HERE!  My project, the insert is not meant to pull out---just folds down flat for mailing.  I have made these before (see here) and made them so the insert comes out.  You can easily resize these as well--my project above measure 5.75" across.

I decided to pull out my favorite stamp from the NEW Wedding Collection from  Magnolia-licious HERE--this cute couple is called "Loving Bridal Couple".  Love them and how she's reaching up to touch his face!  The other stamp with the billowing fabric colored arch is "Wedding Background" (there is also a romantic sunset stamp here in this collection here that would be beautiful too).  The pretty scrolls on top are done with my Marianne D dies (I used this frame die here and cut off the edges), the edge scrolls are from that set of dies as well.

My husband and I want to renew our wedding vows on our anniversary this November, and I really want to do it on the beach (Little Palm Island in the Keys of FL is our goal) so this card was created with that in mind.  I used soft creams and blues and lots of texture to re-create a beach wedding scene, the colors are so elegant and soothing to me.  The blue dp is by Magnolia for the wedding collection (see here).

Here's a closer up picture of them--they're colored with Copics of course!  I used Mudd Puddles sand (in Malibu Beach here) on the beach (love that stuff, so cool & dries quick & hard) and the ocean got diamond glaze & stickles on it.  Stickles were also used on the top of her pretty wedding dress and the pretty, billowing fabric got a coat of Buttercream Shimmerz for a subtle sparkle.  (The creams were done with E42 thru E40 Copics, Blues were B99 thru B91 with some C2 to gray it down a bit)  The couple are popped up a bit with pop-dots to stand out just a bit from the background!

This sentiment is from a Gina K set "Botanicals"--I love the fonts and the saying---so it was perfect!  I love how this project turned out--it's gonna sit on my "permanent collection" shelf!  Now make sure to hop over to the Magnolia-licious Highlites Blog to join in on the fun!  And see all those new Wedding Collection stamps at Magnolia-licious here.

**And because I'm in the giving/vacation mode, hee hee--leave me a comment here by next Monday telling me "where your special relaxation/peaceful place is in the world?" and you could win 2 stamps of your choice from Magnolia-licious from me! **

See ya back here on Saturday with a new post & some more vacay pictures!

  2. Hi Suzanne,
Last time you told me that I can write to you in French, so here I am... Le plus bel endroit au monde pour relaxer c'est Les Iles-de-la-Madeleine. Je suis originaire de ce coin de paradis et chaque été j'y vais en vacances. J'y retrouve les miens et je me ressource.
    Passez de très belles vacances,

  3. I have to say that my favorite place to unwind and chill is my own backyard deck. I've vacationed to several lovely places, but I just love to sit on the swing on our deck with a book and read while listening to the birds. Doesn't happen often enough so it is a treat!

  5. Suzanne, this is a wonderful project. Very summery and beautiful.

I've never really been anywhere that I can say is totally relaxing. Hubby and I are looking to take a late honeymoon (13 years late LOL) next year to Mexcio. I just want to sit at the beach and relax.

I hope you're having lots of fun and getting the rest that you deserve.

  6. I love your talent! And, thank you for sharing . . . you provide me the creative inspiration I need. Thank you so much!

My fav relaxing is on the back patio at the Running Y Lodge in Klamath Falls, OR. I love to sit there in a rocking chair, with my dog Kumba resting nearby, sipping a glass of wine and snacking while talking with other guests and watching the golfers go by in the distance. It is beautiful, peaceful, and so relaxing.

  32. My special/relaxation place is ...I know it is sappy...but curled up in my husbands arms. He means the world to me and I can't think of a safer more relaxing place to be. Secondly I love to be by the ocean listening to the waves crash on the shore. I am so in love with this sound you will never guess what that man of mine bought me just the other day. It is by HoMedics and it has numerous sounds you can play such as stormy night with thunder, rainfall, summer night with crickets, etc and of course ocean waves. It even has a timer. Guess what sounds I hear as I fall off to sleep besides the snoring....lol

  33. My perfect relaxation place is on a cruise ship with my hubby. Cruising on a ship is a vacation that is strictly for my hubby and I. We take no family or friends--it's time for only us. It will be a long time before we go on a cruise ship since we now have three children. :)

  34. This is so cute! Love the sandy beach.
My absolute favorite destination is Sedona Arizona. I love the climate and the red rock and the small town feel of the place. Plus it is very artsy-crafty with an awesome art mall. I haven't been in quite a few years but have been thinking about it.

  35. Sounds like you are having a great time. My favorite place to relax is a cruise--it can go anywhere. I can really disconnect from the crazy life and reconnect with myself.

  36. Love your beautiful wedding card, and hope you are having a great vacation. My favorite relaxing spot occurs every morning when my DH serves me my first two cups of coffee in bed. It's a time to "wake up", a time to think about what occured yesterday, and a chance to plan how I am going to use the coming day. I think it is called "daydreaming", and YES, I DO KNOW that I am spoiled. :))

  37. Such a sweet card!!! I love this couple. My favorite relaxation spot is in Capri, Italy. We had a day trip to Capri, we saw the blue grotto. We took a gondola across the mountainside. When you get to Ana Capri which is the highest point, there is a cafe there. You can sit high on the mountain overlooking the ocean and have a nice glass of red wine. I could spend hours there!! Have fun!

  38. I have to say that my most favorite spot in the world to be is in my craft room. I have just reorganized my space and it is exactly as I have wanted it for a long time. I feel at peace and relaxed when I am in it. Life is just so crazy all of the time that just being home in my favorite space in the whole house is really all I need to relax. Especially if I get the chance to get lost in a project. I love the wedding couple and your pop up card.

  43. Suzanne--Your beach couple card is just gorgeous. I'm writing this from my peaceful place now. My husband and I have retired and summer on the shores of Lake Huron in our 5th wheel camper. When we travel here from home I literally can feel my blood pressure drop the minute I catch my first glimpse of that lake.

  46. Hi Suzanne:
Hope your vacation is recharging your batteries and giving you much needed time away from the routine!!! I love the card! My most relaxing place is the beach; specifically the shore in Montauk, NY. We are Long Islanders but the East end is such a special place. My favorite time is early morning when I grab a cup of coffee, open my back door and walk onto the sand. I sit on the shore and think just how lucky I am at that moment... Second best is sunset with a bottle of wine and my hubby nearby. It doesn't get better than that!

  53. Awww, Suzanne... you and your card are sooooo romantic!!! I do love your creative genius : ) I also LOVE your hair! I am ALL for easy. Right now I'm also growing out my hair and bcuz it's HOT, I 'paste' it back (even no bangs which is very weird for me!). At least it's out of my face lol!

Hmmmm... Yosemite is definitely one of my fave places in the world to go to get away. Even though there are still lots of people, the beauty of the God's creation is breathtaking! It holds special memories for me (we went there last year for our 25th Anniversary - even though it was our 26th Anniversary ha ha...) I was recovering from surgery for our 25th, so we delayed it a year.

Sorry for the book I just wrote!

    Thank you for being you!!!

I love the Wedding Card, I just love these images! I love the waves and the beach idea! What a great place for a wedding! What day in November is your anniversary? Ours is the 6th and it will be 34 years! Wowzer! I was only 9 when we married! LOL!
My favorite peaceful happy place has to be at our cabin in Southern Colorado along the banks of the Rio Grande! I love just sitting out on the banks of the river or up at one of the many lakes fly fishin' and breathing the fresh crisp mountain air! I will be going up next week for the first time since last November and told my hubby he could come up and get me for our anniversary again this year! LOL!
    Have a great time!

The card is absolutely gorgeous as well, although Tilda doesn't have her extensions!! The colors are perfect and it couldn't be better for a summer beach wedding. As usual you outdid yourself.

My special, peaceful place is right on the patio in my chair, holding my little cat, listening to the trees rustle in the breeze and watching the birds and butterflies flutter about. It's just perfect and brings back lots of lovely memories of loved ones gone who also enjoyed that lovely setting as well. It's simple perfection and one with nature......

Anyway, my relaxing/peaceful place is in a bed and breakfast in Cambridge, England called "Warkworth House". This huge house converted to a bed and breakfast is surrounded by gorgeous foliage and wraps around a private courtyard. You can just stare out the window for hours and get lost in the majestic English scenery and scents. I've been twice and cannot wait to go back.

  74. wow love that card. my special relaxing/peaceful place is out by the river camping approx 25 mins from home, the same spot that my hubby proposed to me 4 years ago, the sound of the river flowing and the birds chirping is just bliss not to mention the wonderful memory it brings xo.

  75. My most relaxing place to be is the cottage at the end of the dock. Just lying under the stars staring at the sky, listening to the lake splash against the dock. Oh that is just the best......

  76. Love your new look Suzanne. It makes you look younger. I just cut off my hair because I was getting frustrated with it. Maybe I should have added extentions too. Enjoy your holiday.

  77. The Wedding project is fabulous and it does sounds like a wonderful idea for renewing your vows! I do hope that you are able to make the dream come true.

My most relaxing "dreamy" place is lounging on a nice beach with the warm sun shining down, looking out a gorgeous aqua water and enjoying a wonderful little sea breeze. A nice tropical cocktail would be a nice little bonus! Ahhhh!!

And back to reality...my most relaxing place at home is in my craft room...sitting comfy at my desk and coloring with my Copics!!!

  79. I love your Wedding card, so pretty, and they do look like they are at a beach wedding. My place to relax, is when we go on vacation to the BEACH !!! there is something about the sound of the ocean that just makes me feel relaxed and washes my worries away. We try to get to the beach ever year for our vacation, my kids love it too, there is something about water that makes us all very happy!!!

  80. My special relaxation/peaceful place--out on my deck on the back of the house. We live out in the country--in the boonies, according to a friend of mine--and we get beautiful sunsets, can see all the stars, and hear nothing but the sounds of nature on most nights. Heaven on earth!

  81. My absolute favorite vacation, get-away, relaxation spot is a sweet little cabin, in the Santa Cruz Mountains. It's nestled between giant Redwood trees, with a stream and little walking bridge. It's absolute heaven, but if you're in the mood, a 15 minute drive will get you into town and to the beach. The best of both worlds!

Love, love, love your card. Amazing work as usual. I learn so much from your tutorials. Thank you!

  82. Your wedding card is a stunner! Colored so beautifully and I love all the special accents. My most peaceful place to be is in the mountains. I particularly enjoy long walks through less traveled paths in Gatlinburg.

  83. The most relaxing day ever on vacation for me was lying on the beach at Hayman Island (The Great Barrier Reef in Australia). Sooo luxurious and peaceful!

Love your gorgeous card. There are two weddings a day at Hayman...your card would be perfect!

  85. Ok Suzanne. Now I see how your hair looks so long..heehee That will teach me not to read in order, lol. Most years my whole family travel down to Cape Lookout on the Oregon coast and camp in our tent-trailers for about 10 days. It is so fun with all 4 trailers together and all of us together with our Mom & Dad and all 8 of our kids together. My family haven't been able to go the last 2 years and I really miss it. Oh well we can always hope for next year. heehee Love your hair. Hugs, Lisa

  86. Love the card, our daughter is getting married this July 10 in our yard. Gotta get to work making their card. You so inspire ideas. Vacations are so much work, my favorite is when hubby does his golf outing with his 4 buddies from high school, he's enjoying his week, while the furbabies and I enjoy our catnaps, sitting outside in my rocker watching the deer, racoons, hummingbirds, cardinals, squirrels, then stopping to smell the roses or flowers I enjoy growing. those vacations go fast, then hubby's back and we get back into our normal. Life is fun on vacation.

  87. Though it might be too late to enter your contest, I wanted to say that your card is so beautiful and one day I also hope to have another wedding ceremony on the beach. I think that is so romantic and awesome! My most favorite, peaceful place is in the middle of the ocean. I love to be on a cruise just looking across the water or hanging out in the water on the beach. There's just something peaceful about the water!
