Skater Boy!!

Hello and Happy Tuesday to you all! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and your week is going well. Riley came home from a sleepover on Saturday with some kind of stomach bug and it seems that I have it now as well. I was really ill yesterday and I'm feeling a bit better today--just praying no one else gets it. Especially Alexa, as she has her exams this week and graduation on Thursday--blech! So although I'm moving slower than normal I'm still trying to get bunches of stuff done, lol! I have lots of projects to get ready to pre-post for while I'm gone--only 9 more days until my Hilton Head Island vacations!  YAYYYY-I'm soooo ready for it!  Although I do think it's harder "getting ready" to go on vacation than to just stay home, lmbo, but so worth it!  Beaches, alligators and hot humid weather---HERE WE COME!

I worked most of the weekend but I did find time to get to the pool with the family and do some reading!  I just finished Karen White's new book called "On Folly Beach" & it was MAGNIFICENT!  She is one of my favorite authors--you open her books and just fall right in.  I read it in a day and can't recommend it enough---all of her books are fabulous, not a bad one in the bunch I tell ya!  I'm hoping to meet her at a reading when I'm down in SC for vacay--fingers crossed!

Skater Boy!!

Since today is the 15th of June that means it's another Copic Creations Challenge!!  This month our sponsor is Stampavie and the challenge was to color on any paper other than white cardstock!  I love this challenge and I picked "kraft cs" to color on because I love the look of Copics and a white highlighter pen on it.  The stamp I used is by Stampavie and is called "Skateboard Dude"--find it HERE!  You can find out all the info on the challenge, how to join in on the fun and see the DT projects on the blog HERE!

Since I've been making lots of girlie stuff, it way high-time to do a rough & tuff BOY card--they're always FUN!  I picked some bright colors and papers from both Basic Grey (Lime Rickey) and Cosmo Cricket's (DeLovely)--I love the circle theme.  The background turquoise cardstock got embossed with a NEW Tim Holtz embossing folder that I LOVE (shhh...don't tell but I got them all, lol)--this one is called "bricked" and it comes with the "woodgrain" folder too!  I love the brick background on this skater card!  My kraft cardstock is from Paper Trey Ink--I love their kraft!  That fun arrow was hand-cut by me, lol, because I thought I had a punch like this but I didn't (GASP) and then I inked the edges and added some white dots with my Sharpie Poster Paint Pen (in white w/ extra fine tip HERE).  The "brother" word was done with my Slice and "Words & Expressions" cartridge--love that SLICE!! A few Robin's Nest baubles in white finish it off.

Isn't this skater boy the cutest--I just love him!  Copic Tip: When you color on kraft you need to remember that the kraft cs is more fibrous so it sucks Copic ink in quickly and blending is a little different.  It also dilutes the vibrancy of the Copic colors, so you want to stay on the darker/brighter side when choosing your colors--the lighter colors leave a very faint bit of color, so keep that in mind!  I used some stickles on his skateboard and added some white accents with my sharpie pen!  Then I cut the image and it's layers out with my SB Nestabilities dies.

Now make sure to hop over to the Copic Creations Challenge Blog to see all the DT's projects and to join in as well for a fabulous prize!!

  1. A great card and thanks for all the tips! I am about 1/3 of the way thru "On Folly Beach" and so far it's a great book. My daughter lives down in Mt.Pleasant near Folly Beach so a lot of that area is familiar in these books - have you read any of Dorthea Benton Frank's books? They are all about that area ("Shem Creek", "Sullivan's Island", etc.)
    TFS!
