Magnolia-licious DT Blog Hop
Today the Magnolia-licious DT has a fun Blog Hop planned for you today--and the theme is Pop-Up Cards/projects (my fave)! You can find all the details for this hop on the Magnolia-licious Highlites Blog HERE along with how you can play along for prizes! I LOVE creating pop-up scenes, they're fun to do but they are definitely a labor of love! I really wanted to use some of my stamps from the Magnolia "Pet Collection" that hadn't seen ink yet. All of these stamps are available at Magnolia-licious--for the front of my card I used the "Jungle Car". I used some old K&Co vellum that had postcards and stamps on it, cut them out and arranged them on the front. The sentiment (just got this a few weeks ago--perfect timing) is from Hero Arts and distressed all my edges with my Tonic Distress Tool (luv that thing)!
And this is how the inside pops up--a real Jungle Scene Journey for you (I won't tell you how many hours I spent on this, it's scary)! I'm all about details--the more the better, I want someone to look at this card and notice all the special touches. I used the "Waterfall Background" and "Jungle Car" along with cute "Jungle Tilda" on the inside. I wanted it to look as though she was going to step thru a photograph of the Jungle and start her journey! The vine leaf ribbon can be found HERE--I just love it! The sentiment is from the same Hero Arts set.
Here's cute Jungle Tilda getting ready to start her journey--I had to give her just a lil' bling on her shirt and pockets--a girl's still gotta look good! LOL! The windows on the car got diamond glaze and the tail lights got some stickles for sparkle.
From the side view, you can see how I create my pop-up elements. Jungle Tilda is hooked directly to the car which is attached to the background--when the card folds so do the pop-ups!
Here's a close-up of the background---the waterfall got a layer of diamond glaze, then stickles on top once dry and the foam of the water got a coat of liquid applique. And I added some sparkles to the mountains too--I wanted it to be dreamy beautiful! Hope you enjoyed the journey today---now your NEXT HOP is to KERRY's BLOG HERE (and if you get lost you can access all the Blog Hop info on the Magnolia-licious Highlites Blog as well)!!
Blog Candy Alert!!! And for those that read all the way thru, I thank you, hee hee---leave a comment on this post letting me know "What Your Dream Journey is?" and you can win ALL 3 Magnolia Stamps I used today along with the Hero Arts Sentiment Set (your's will be new, hee hee--not used of course)!! You have until this Friday to enter!!

Easter Tulips for the Copic Creations Challenge Blog
Since today is the 15th that means it's another fun challenge over at the Copic Creations Challenge Blog! This time our challenge was to use Copics to color embellishments, a really fun technique. Copics can be used on so many things including fabric, ribbon, paper, buttons, lace, clear baubles, brads, etc.! The sponsor this week is DZ Doodles and they have some beautiful digi stamps in their store and they so graciously gave each of the DT a digi stamp to use this week! I got this beautiful stamp called "Wrapped Tulips" which I love--Tulips are my absolute favorite flower of them all! The beautiful paper is by Prima, the lattice punch by MS and all cs is from PTI.
I used Copics to color my image (B01,B00,B0000/R22,R20,R00/G99,G25,G20) and also my Prima E flowers. The center rose is already colored, but all the rest of the flowers were white and I enhanced them with R20 & R00 to match---I buy a ton of flowers in white so I can color them, paint them, airbrush them and spritz them to match my projects (find a variety of white flowers HERE). The image was cut out with my oval nestabilities and then I coated the edges with MS crystal microbeads for a fun touch.
Now make sure and hop over to the Copic Creations Challenge Blog HERE to see the rest of the DT's beautiful projects and join in on the fun!

My dream journey oh that is a hard one, well we've visited 2 states in canada and driven around about half of florida, so I tyhink my dream journey would be to drive around the whole of the 52 states in the US well maybe not me drive in Alaska as I don't like driving on ice and I'm not altogether sure how icy it is up there, and I'd like to drive through the rest of Canada apart from the bad weather bits someone else can do the driving there. I don't mean just drive I like to stop off at places and spend a few days exploring all the wonderful places there are, and then I'd like to travel , chaufeur driven round europe as the roads are more crowded and its often tiring due to the amount of concentrating you have to do but I'd like to visit all the places I've not yet been and then Australasia , in fact I think my dream journey would be a world tour as there are so many beautiful places on our planet I would love to experience them all but most important of all I'd want to do it all with my wonderful hubby and son.

Abusive past with ex is behind me and want to start anew. So I guess that's two dreams sorry. Carol M in TX / carolswingster77@aol.com
ReplyDeleteYour talent is amazing! My dream journey is two fold, if I was selfish and wanted a dream journey just for me, it would be to travel to your house and then to a few others just to sit with them as they craft so I could watch and learn from you all. I am blown away every time I look at some of these blogs. Now if I had my dh with me, my dream journey would be to visit Australia or to find Heidi in the Swiss Alps. Either one would be just fine with me!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! These cards are gorgeous! I'm sure you spent hours (at least I would have - {wink!}). My dream destination is not too crazy. I would love to take my kids to see both the Grand Canyon and Niagra Falls (sp?). It is something I would like them to see before they get too big and find it hard to appreciate these natural wonders.
ReplyDeleteSuzanne, you never cease to awe and amaze me with your work. It just gets better and better. For my dream trip I would love to recreate the cross country trip we went on when I was 10 (almost 50 years ago) where we camped in a tent for 7 weeks from Fl to CA and back across midsection of country. We stayed in motel only 3 nights the whole trip! I still remember it like it was yesterday. Thanks for letting me walk down memory lane.

As usual, your card is b-e-a-utiful!! I love the detail you put in with the diamond glaze and the stickles...and that doesn't even count all the time you spend with those copics! My dream journey would be to travel through Asia and the Middle East. My husband is originally from that area and I would love nothing more than to see and experience all the areas he has been and grown up. Here's hoping school is back to normal here in Loudoun Co. Looking forward to the drawing!
ReplyDeleteWow Suzanne! Your attention to detail is stunning along with your cards! I'm in awe of your talent!
ReplyDeleteMy dream journey - to see the Sistine Chapel! I've had this dream since the 1st time I did a book report on it when I was a kid (way back when!). Knowing how the frescas were made is amazing enough, but knowing the conditions & the time involved in it makes it even more intriging! We complain when our lighting isn't perfect or that we don't have the room to create, & then I think of the Chapel & how I really should feel blessed for what I do have!
Beautiful work as usual, Suzanne!
ReplyDeleteEspecially love your Magnolia Pop-Up Card - it's fantastic!!
Hugs, Candy

Suzanne - absolutely awesome! I just adore your work and love all your creations! I'm actually on my dream journey - or one of them for the past 3 years. Even with all the ups and downs with health, the brain tumor, countless hospitalizations, my DH and I have been able to travel. Our dream was to retire, get an RV and travel across the states. We are doing that now and loving every minute. I've met some of the most wonderful people and made some lasting friendships along the way. The other part of this dream journey was due to medical reasons and retirement, I have been fortunate to meet lots and lots of people in the art world and that hs been and is a fantastic journey.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your beautiful cards - the tulips are beautiful.
Kerry Peasland (the other Kerry)
Your cards are great. I love your coloring. Thanks for letting us have a peek.
ReplyDeleteHi Suzanne, this Magnolia card is brilliant!
ReplyDeleteMy dream journey is happening now - I have a great life with my husband and dog, and we travel to far-off places when we can. Perhaps my goal journey would be to sail down the Intracoastal Highway and winter in the sunny Caribbean.

My dream journey would be to visit Italy and see all the sights my husband saw while he was there for work. He got most weekends off and did quite a bit of traveling. I followed him along from California via Google Earth, but I would love to see it all with him, holding hands. Sappy, I know, but I'm a sappy kind of girl.

ReplyDeleteMy dream journey is to begin tutoring students in the community that can't afford an expensive center. I will be tutoring 2 days a week and the 3rd day I want to start a stamp club for my students.
I think they would love using my stamps and card. Hopefully they will want to help me send cards to the troops. I just want to make a difference and still get to share my love of stamping.
Loved the jungle pop-up card. Awesome and would love to know how to make them.

In the meantime, we'll try to spend time crafting and spending time together. :-)

ReplyDeleteNow that I think about it, I've been on a Dream Journey. Had an exciting career in the LA's TV industry for 15 years. Now I'm in my 2nd career as SAHM with my 15-month-old and living in HI. Life is good and I'm looking forward to where the journey takes me!
There are alot of places I would like to visit and alot of things I would like to see, but I think my dream journey would be the opportunity to live long and happy and to see my two boys grow up and watch their journey through life. That will certainly be something to see.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card Suzanne! I just love how you created a scene :) Some cities I'd love to go are: Sydney, Vancouver and Rome one day with my family and fiancee! ReplyDeleteWOW! Suzanne! The pop-up is great! It's a story in itself! My dream journey is a trip to Europe with my fabulous husband and our kids and my brother to visit our parents homeland in Budapest. I still have some family there I have never met. But it sure would be nice to!
ReplyDeleteYour cards and blog have revived the artistry within me. It was going south!:) I actually took my dream journey last year. In 1961 (yikes) I entered high school and had to choose a language. I chose French. I had a wonderful teacher, Sister Emily (Catholic School)and I took the class for three years. The language just clicked with me. I only spoke it to my family who never knew what I was saying. Well...here's the good part. Last Christmas my son, Mike bought me and his sister plane tickets to Paris. He knew I always dreamed to really try out my French. I brushed up a bit and we were all welcomed by the French everywhere we went because I could speak their language.I surprised my kids (and myself) at how much I retained. It was a trip of a lifetime, not only to be in Paris but to have a trip like that with my kids. Wow! Wish we were back there. Thanks for reading all this.
