80's Flashback!!

Happy Wednesday & Hump Day my friends--we are halfway thru the work week! I am typing up my blog for today while listening to Riley watch some dumb cartoon on tv. I swear, the cartoons they make nowadays do NOT resemble the cartoons I grew up with at all! And that's not a good thing, lol! They're just weird to me--lots of ninjas, aliens & oddly gifted kids that do weird things, hee hee. I miss the good cartoons that taught actual lessons like the Smurfs, The Flintstones, Fat Albert and The Jetsons (am I dating myself yet, hee hee). I loved Jem, Shirt-Tales, Richie Rich & The RoadRunner & Bugs Bunny ya know! They were cute, funny & always had a great friendly & non-scary theme--unlike some of today's cartoons (Phineas & Ferb, Avatar, Mighty Bee, Static Shock, etc) that are just strange & sometimes a lil' scary!! My two most favorite were ShirtTales and Monchichi's, hee hee (see YouTube links below)--I just loved them & watched every Saturday morning. Back then that's when ALL the popular cartoons came on, remember? We didn't have oodles of options when we were kids and Saturday mornings were my favorite time of the week! When we were at Disney World Epcot a couple of year's ago, in Japan they had a store & they had Monchichi stuffed animals! Well I had to get one just like the old one I used to have (which who knows where it may be)--my kids thought I was nuts, hee hee--but I have it on one of my shelves in my craftroom & it always gives me a smile. So there ya have it, an 80's Flashback for ya today--who knew you'd be getting this info today, LMBO!!

Tell me what was your favorite cartoon when you were young!!??

Today, I've got 2 more fun projects using new Digi images from Pink Cat Studio--check out Pink Cat Studio Digi Stamp store HERE!! I tell ya, I was so thrilled when Melissa asked me to make some samples for the store & I had more fun with these images! This card uses "IB Betty--Ladybug on Flower"-isn't she so cute & cheery! I colored her w/ copics and then added diamond glaze to the ladybug on the stem & the dots on her dress; of course lots of stickles on the flower's center, wings & her headband. The black/white polka dot paper is from PTI & then I created lots of flower accents with my nesties, flower Cuttlebug embossing folder & Primas. Just a fun & happy card!!

The second project I made is a fun holiday card and wine-bottle wrap. I saw similar bottle wraps in a local paper store and they were selling them for $6 a piece, wowza!! You know us papercrafters & our mantra--if we see it, we know we can somehow make it, LOL! Both of these projects use "Penguin Elf in Present"--the beauty of digi stamps is you can re-size them any size you'd like. In this case I printed the regular size for my card & then I re-sized it smaller & printed it for the small tag on top of the wine bottle! How fun is that!! You can also print a mirror image as well! Now, I'll always love my rubber stamps but digi stamps are fun to use as well!

Close up of the card--I used these holiday fab papers by SEI called "Christmas Mint", the papers are really pretty up close because they have glitter & foil accents on them. I used stardust stickles on the present & added a tiny pom-pom to his lil' elf hat!

Here's a picture of the back of the wine-bottle wrap! I just punched holes and added ribbon to tie it closed with, gives it a lil' something special and the recipient could take it off & re-use it as well! Perfect for all those upcoming holiday parties!!

That's it for me today, but I'll be back tomorrow with some more goodies for ya!!

hugz,
Suzanne

  2. Hi Suzanne
I'm hearing you about the cartoons! I used to love my Jem and the Holograms doll with her flashing light earrings LOL! Loved all your samples today, just gorgeous! The digi stamps are a fantastic idea and I'm keen to try them but I just had a quick question... does the image bleed when you colour with copics or is there anything special I need to do before colouring? Thanks for sharing your creations!

  8. What cute projects. Love the pixie and the penguins. My favorite was probably the Flintstones. I named a doll I got one Christmas Pebbles. Her hair reminded me of the cartoon character.

  9. Great ideas...and you are right on with today's cartoons. My ultimate favorite was Scooby Doo but I also loved the short School House Rock videos they had in between shows. Now I have to find Boomerang to see cartoons from my childhood.

  10. Suzanne kive the card and the wine wrap. Love how you laced it on there. That way you can still see what the beverage is underneath, very clever! Love the old cartoons. My favorite was Yogi Bear. Loved him and his side kick Yodi? I think that was his name. Thanks for the inspiration and the memories! hugs Cynde
