Hello everyone! It's happy hump day (Wed that is)--halfway thru the week, yippee! Isn't it sad sometimes how we wish time away, always wanting the next day to come and rushing thru life. Wish there was a way to slow down sometimes, but doesn't happen much around here. I'm getting my hair cut/colored today, yahoo, in preparation for my New Kids on the Block concert tomorrow night--I cannot wait! And I'm having the carpets cleaned in the house and then grocery shopping, ughhhh...I hate grocery shopping! Anywhoo, I will have two posts today so make sure and check back after 12 noon (EST) for my second post featuring my projects for Storage Units, Ink and More.
Every month the fabulous Katharina of Whiff of Joy challenges the DT members to make a project of the month. Last month it was to make bookmarks, and this month it was to make a "tea" gift (packaging for a teacup and tea). Now I don't drink tea or coffee myself, I'm a Cherry Coke or hot chocolate girl, but I'm always up for a great challenge.
I decided to make a cute gift basket for my teacup and an accordian box to hold the tea. For the basket I measured the size I would need for my teacup and then made a box and handle using those dimensions. I really wanted to use Willow with Hot Chocolate for my gift---she's really drinking tea this time, lol! All the dp is from Basic Grey's new line "Eva"--isn't it beautiful, and I paired it with PTI's lavender moon and plum pudding cs. I attached the handles with tacky tape and brads that I threaded thru the Prima flowers on each side. The decorative border was made with one of my Fiskars border punches.
This cute little tea box was something I had thought of when I should've been sleeping again, lol! I've seen so many accordian type folders or cards and I thought what a great way to package up a few bags of tea. So I made a template of my own using a teabag to get the dimensions right, and off I went. You could alter this to hold more or less tea too and I'm actually in the process of making one to hold different flavors of hot chocolate (yummo). I used the same dp for this box and added Basic Grey magnets underneath the dp for it to stay closed. I finished off the front with matching layered Primas and that's it. If anyone is interested in a template/directions for this "tea box", please post a comment and I will make sure and post that on my blog for ya next week, okay.
Don't forget to visit all my DT sistah's blogs(on sidebar) today to see their projects--they're all gorgeous!! And if you haven't entered for Fran's blog candy yet, get over there and do it already, lol!
Today is also the new releases for Clear Dollar Stamps and Storage Units, Ink and More--you'll definitely want to see all the new stamps!! Make sure and check back later for my projects using the new SUINK stamps!!
