I'm not a huge fan of fall because it means winter is around the corner and you know I HATE THE COLD ugh…BUT..I do like the pretty trees, smell of wood fires and Halloween fun! So tomorrow we will go to the Pumpkin Patch out in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mtns that we visit every year. Its supposed to be sunny and 76 so that’s excellent weather for me and we will do the hayride, drink cider, do the mazes and then pick out our pumpkies! Sunday its supposed to rain so we’ll take Alexa out to search for her Homecoming dress. If you’ve been with my blog the past couple of years you know how terribly PAINFUL this is for me…she’s uber picky about color, length and the material LOL and drives me NUTTERS. I ordered her 5 dresses online as well so we will have lots of options…I just pick a bunch and order cuz if I ask her what she likes she will like NOTHING and usually if she tries it on she’ll like it. I did this last year as well and she liked 2 out of 6 that I ordered LOL..its less painful then dragging my arse around a busy mall with a daughter who is moody & pouty..ick! So that’s what my weekend entails…and me and Alexa will be making CakePops for a special project on Monday for my blog so check back to see that. I finally get to use that CakePop machine I bought LOL…I love to buy machines (bread, pasta, donut, rice, etc) but terrible about using them. So if I use it I can say “Ha” to hubby and he’ll leave me alone for a bit about my machine-addiction KWIM!
And for those that want to get into my crazy-crafty-mind just a bit (oooohhhh scary I know hahaha)…here’s a photo of my studio desk mid-project. Now this was the result of 5 solid days and 10 projects completed…I don’t clean up much between when I’m that busy. I’m a messy crafty..sorry if I’ve ruined any neat-freak illusions LMAO! I have a 6 ft desk and usually work in a 12x12 area on top of my Scor-Pal…seriously its just how I roll. I’m very neat-freakish in my house though..I hate clutter & mess…but the creative me has to have it while working in my studio. The rest of my studio is super clean but the desk…well you can see for yourself below LOL:

Where’s YOUR Broomstick?!!
Today I’m sharing a fun project with you (you can see it in process in my messy desk photo above LOL)! This was made for the current October Magnolia-licious Challenge hosted by DT Angela Wood and she’s challenged us to create not just Halloween/Fall cards but projects as well. I love this image of “So Spooky Tilda”…I just love her (she’s out of stock at Magnolia-licious but if you email Diana she may be getting more…she’s available in mini form here though). Then to go along with it I’ve created fun Lollipop-Broomsticks that are so much fun to make! You can find details on how to play along with us AND see the DT projects at the Magnolia-licious Highlites Blog!! **And if you haven’t seen the new Christmas Story 2012 Collection…go HERE to see the stamps at Magnolia-licious…so CUTE!!
I'm entering this into the following challenges:
I used a few papers by MME Lost & Found Halloween 10% off HERE (love these papers so much I’ve used the whole pad yikes)—some of the orange papers are scraps! I distressed the paper & inked it then got to work with my embellies and accents. I always pick my papers first, then color my image and then go to work on the layout and add things and subtract things. I might cut 4-5 diecuts but only use 2…I like to mix and match as I go! The cool corners are SCACD Dies and that one is “Alice’s Clock Statement Corner”…its great for all sorts of things and I love the size of it! The sentiment is from PTI along with the button & ribbon.
“So Spooky Tilda” is colored with Copics: E44,E43,E42,E41,E40 / E11,E00,R20 / YR18,YR12,YR01 / W7,W5,W3,W1,W0 / E29,E25,E31,E50,E49. The cobwebs were done with a Magnolia cobweb stamp…it was part of the Magnolia Club Kit a bit ago and not sure if its available as a regular stamp—I didn’t find it on the web but perhaps I missed it. You can see in my messy desk pic that I cut it..it’s a huge stamp and I wanted it smaller so I cut it…I cut my stamps a lot to fit my needs…no biggie LOL! I added Stickles to the cobwebs and the trim on her dress.
The broomstick suckers are so easy to make…I originally saw them HERE and pinned them on Pinterest so I wouldn’t forget LOL, I tend to see stuff and love it and then forget where I saw it ugh. I didn’t have the same die she used so I improvised and I have to say I love the fun look mine have just as much. I used my Scallop Spellbinders die and I got this kraft-colored tissue paper at Target (on clearance for .40 cents a pack)..I cut about 5 layers with the die. I folded them in half and then in half again to mark the center…then punched a hole for the lollipop. Then I used my MS Fringe Scissors to go around the circle and fringe up the broom. I stuck the sucker inside, pressed the tissue down and used brown ink to make it a bit dirty/vintage. I also cut long, thin pieces of tissue paper to wrap at the top of the broom-fringe to cover the rest of the lollipop wrapper so it doesn’t show…I attached it with Scor-Tape. To make the lollipop sticks dark I just ran my Memento Dew Drop inkpad in Rich Cocoa along the stick till it was covered. Then I made tags with smaller SB dies and PTI stamps…accented with Stickles & tied with twine. Super easy & super fun to make and I think they go mahhhh-velously with the Tilda stamp!!
Ok that’s it for me this weekend! I hope you have a fabulous-fall-good-time planned and hope you’ll come back on Monday for a super-PINK-special Blog Hop by the Magnolia-licious team ok!!
Great projects!!
ReplyDeleteSuzanne, lovely creation and I think those little brooms are adorable. I had to laugh looking at your work area, because it looks like mine. I work off my 12x12 Scorpal pad as well. Thanks for making me feel like less of a crazy person. ;-) ~Candy
