Its another FRIGID COLLLLLDDDD DAY here in Virginia…again….yeah its winter—go figure…but I don’t have to like it LOL! I can’t wait to get to California to soak up some sun…yep there better be SUN…or else! Well its 2012…a year of new beginnings…new bucket & to-do lists…new shenanigans!! I have lots of things I want to do this year…lots of ideas and things I want to share….so we will see how much I ACTUALLY get done with this year. If I could add 10 more hours onto each day…dang I would be good to go! So stick close to me this year and you can join in on all the craziness with me ok….you wanna stick around? LOL!
The above pictures are a good example of how my day is full of chaos & distractions…seriously even with teens at school & hubby at work…the animals, doorbell, phone, computer & chores distract me. This is Tinkerbell, she is my daughter’s cat but she adopts me when Alexa is at school…I’m so thankful for that…yeah I am…hahahaha! She is ANNOYING!!! OMGosh I love her to bitz but she drives me NUTZO!! She wants to be ON me, on whatever I’m coloring…sitting on my laptop, eating paper, dragging embellies off the desk. And the whole time she wants to HEAD BUTT me….yes head butts…her & her brother like to head butt us…its cute the first couple of times, but after the 20th time I’ve had enough. Seriously I would get SO much more done if I put all 7 of my animals in animal-daycare…not sure anyone would want all 7 but it sure would help a girl out!! Do you feel my pain…you feelin’ me…do you have similar issues? LOL—vent to me..make me feel better..tell me your stories!
Did you watch my goofy video from yesterday’s post yet? Yeah, yeah I hear y’all…you feel sorry for my hubby & all that…whatever…he loves us and puts up with us so its all good…sometimes he acts like a grumpy elf but we love him anyways. AND YES my son laughs just like Anderson Cooper….click here to listen to Anderson (if you never saw this video of Anderson I DARE you to not laugh cuz its funny even the 100th time you watch it & scroll down to watch the video from yesterday. All I have to say is that we know how to entertain ourselves very EASILY in the Dean family LMBO!!

The Wonderful Land of Oz!!
I’m gonna share sumpin’ with you all ok! I see you all bracing yourselves…LOL…its not scary I swear!! My #1 Bucket List item is to go to Australia…since I was very small its always been a dream of mine to go to Maui & Australia. I did Maui last spring with my family & it was AWESOME. But now Australia is breathing down my neck to come visit…when I go I want to go for 2 weeks…cuz it’s a 16 hr plane ride…omgosh can you see ME on a plane for 16 hrs…now that may be SCARY hee hee! But I might have something up my sleeves this year that may get me there…so stay tuned cuz I might be going all Crocodile Dundee on ya at some point (yes it is a beloved 80’s movie that I love so there)!! And I want to see & meet all my Oz friends in person & give them hugs and hang out in the sun with them!! (and hug koala bears, and surf, & snorkel and say g’day mate---you get my drift ‘eh)!
So when I saw this SUPER CUTE “Koala Hug Tilda” that my friend Bronlyn Jones of Shop Bron (for Aussies - go here to shop) was carrying (exclusive to her store it was) I HAD TO HAVE IT!! Well she was kind enough to send me TWO of them…yep that’s right…I have one to give away to someone who leaves a comment on my post!! BUT WAIT….even better…now Diana of Magnolia-licious is carrying this exclusive stamp in her store in the US so everyone can easily get one for themselves HERE….totally cool huh? So this card is basically ME…yep me dreaming of going to the Land of Oz…one day soon me hopes!!
And this is also my card for the Magnolia-licious DT Challenge for January as well..hosted by the fabulous Cheryl Rowley. She's given us a fun yet easy challenge…ANYTHING GOES…and you can find out details & play along at the Magnolia-licious Highlites Blog !!
I decided to create a frame card to showcase this cute stamp and the “Waterfall Background” from the Pet & Animal Collection (looks to be out of stock but I’m sure Diana will get more in if you ask her sweetly). The paper is some I had from Bo Bunny…I liked the map/vintage feel of it and pulled out the tangerine color as an accent color with the greens & tans/taupes. I put all my cardstock on my card base & then cut the oval nestie shape out at once thru all the layers with my Cuttlebug. The waterfall scene was colored & cut out and then added to the backside of my frame oval with dimensionals. The leaf die is by Marianne Designs (see some of them here, also Memory Box here & Cheery Lynn dies here) and the smaller leaf is a MS punch & then the edges were sponged with ink for dimension. I created a double bow with my Bow Easy and then used my handy-dandy Scor-Tape to create the rippled ribbon look along the frame.
All my images were colored with Copics – E44,E43,E42,E41,E40 / YR15,YR12,YR00 / W5,W3,W1,W00 / E25,E31,E50 / E00,E11,R20 / YG97,YG95,YG93,G20,YG03 / YR20,YR23. I used a more dotting motion with my markers on the cute koala bear…gives him some furry texture. Then a few of the mountains, Tilda’s shoes and the koala’s nose got a shiny coat of Diamond Glaze. To make the foam/bubbles on the waterfall pop I used Liquid Applique and then added a coat of Stickles to the water (and to the leaves & mountain greenery).
BLOG CANDY: Ok so I have a cute “Koala Hug Tilda” to give away (thanks Bronlyn) and a pack of 6x6 paper (shhh it’s a surprise pack) to someone, anyone, who leaves a nice comment on this post by Saturday, Jan. 7th LOL! And pop on over to the Magnolia-licious Highlites Blog to join in on the fun challenge with us!!
Loved your post, amde me laugh a lot!! G-day mate! What a beautiful card! I too had the same dream to see Australia and I was fortunate enough to go last year as a maid of honour for a friends wedding. You gotta go, it's breathtaking and the warm fuzzy koala in the picture and the waterfall are only a small portion of what there is to see! No worries, you'll get there with many stories of your journey, I'm sure!

ReplyDeleteLove it. The waterfall background looks great.
I hope I get to see you when you come. I am on the Sunshine Coast just up from Brisbane in Queensland. The best spot in Aussie. That's what I say anyway.
Don't put me in the draw for the stamp as I already have this cutie.
Hugs Maz
Hi Suzanne
ReplyDeleteIt would be so wonderful to see you "down under". Certainly plenty to see and do here!! If rainforests, white sandy beaches and the Great Barrier Reef sound appealing we'd love to see you up here in Cairns/Pt Douglas.
Love your Aussie Tilda card, just gorgeous. We have waterfalls just like that in the tropics too!!
Michelle :o)
Hee hee, my kitty used to head-butt any open beverage, so I have been drinking out of travel mugs and sippy cups for 11 years!
ReplyDeletePS: I don't want to win anything - just wanted to tell you about the head-butt thing. :)
I LOVE Australia... Beautiful beaches and blue seas, great scenery, great wines and seafood. I'm still not done with exploring Australia. It's a little scary to be driving though especially at night as you'll risk hitting on one of the gazillion kangaroos who would jump out from nowhere.
ReplyDeleteLove your card and the waterfall scene. Wonder when I'll attain your level of copic coloring.
My dream trip is to the land down under. Your card captures the feel I believe is Australia. As always fab!
ReplyDeleteOh, Wow!! I love this card and the theme...My big dream is to go down under to Australia too. Everyone I know who's been there said there is no more welcoming and gracious people than the Aussies! If I can't go I'll look forward to hearing about your adventures! Awesome card!!!
ReplyDeleteO M G......that video of Anderson Cooper was the FUNNIEST darn thing! I almost peed myself watching it. Second......my daughter went to Australia for a month for graduation, but methinks it was a longer flight than 16 hours...hmmm, just sayin'! Thanx for the chance to win a "koala" my fave animal, and you're not alone w/a kittie buddie, mine insists on lying on the laptop (when I am on it!)
ReplyDeleteAs always, your card is fantastic! I really like the window effect - so cool! Thank you for sharing your wonderful talent with us!
ReplyDeleteI really want to go to Australia also, so this Tilda would be the next best thing. Make sure to go when it is summer there.
ReplyDeleteOMG! What a gorgeous card! I'd love to visit Australia too but I want to see New Zealand while I am that close. LOL! I absolutely love all the detail in your card. TFS!
ReplyDeleteWould so love to stow away in your luggage should you make it to the land of Oz. I have loads of nice friends there that I'd love to visit -- oh well, on to "business" as they say. Your card is absolutely stunning -- the whole waterfall scene, the little Tilda -- totally charming, dear!! Would definitely love to win this little Maggie stamp - sigh - p.s., have heard that Koalas aren't really so very cuddly and friendly -- more the look but don't touch kind of animal.
ReplyDeleteI love your cat all over your desk! That is really cute!
ReplyDeleteLove this post. You are so right, it is sooo cold. Fantastic card and your cat is adorable.
ReplyDeleteMs Tilda...or is that YOU holding that koala bear...either way the card is darling. Love the tip for the ruffle ribbon trick!
ReplyDeleteHoly smoke girly, what a Aussie treat a trip down under would be! I know whatever Suzanne wants to do...she WILL make it happen! Can't what to see the visual trip you will blog!!
PS I would really love to hide in your suitcase and tag along!!!!
I love the way you did the ribbon. I'll have to try using scor-tape to create the ripples...thanks for sharing. I love your blog.
ReplyDeletesmileyguydesigns.com
Picture perfect artwork...as usual! Love the details on this beauty! My niece spent a couple of years in Australia and "loved" it! This would be a fun stamp to own just for her! Hope your plans work out to go!
ReplyDeleteWowzers, Suzanne - this card is pretty spectacular! :) If you go Down Under, those Aussies better look out LOL! It would be just too fun going along with you (via the blog)for the ride!
ReplyDeleteloooove the card ! Ausie-land is also on my bucket list....i sure hope i can check it off someday...Tilda with the koala is sooo adorable. You asked for us to share in the insane stories of our animals. Well i have a similar "child" in my house. Her name is Bella and she is a 2yr old blue-cream point Himalayan. She wants to be near me whenever i am in my craft room. She jumps on my table and sits on the corner to watch.Which would be ok, if she didnt "bring" me things...like a 5ft piece of ribbon that she carries around like a security blanket. But i love her and she makes me laugh...and sometimes yell "Belllllaaaaaa"! LOL
ReplyDeletethanks for the giggles and the inspiration !!
This is gorgeous!! Just absolutely beautiful!! Enough said....
ReplyDelete:-)
I have two dogs who love to bother me no matter what I do. I have a mini pin who loves to sit behind me while I am on the computer which means I sit on the very edge of the chair. lol The larger dog, a catahoula, loves to run in, snatch whatever paper happens to be available, then running back out so she can tear up much to her delighted little puppy dog mind. lol
ReplyDeleteYeah, I feel for you.
Happy New Year Suzanne. Well, if I know anything from all of your blogs, I KNOW that you will be going this year somehow. Make sure you connect with Zoe of MIC.
ReplyDeleteI love the card. The image is way cute and you did a fab job on it. I love the color combination.
Thank you for al your inspirational things that you post. I love it all. Look forward to reading your blog everyday. Thanks for the opportunity of winning this special prize...
Your card is amazing! I always love following your blog, such wonderful ideas! Thanks for the chance to win this adorable stamp!
ReplyDeleteYour card is so cute! Love the waterfall in the background!!!
ReplyDeleteI just laughed when I read about Tinkerbell!!! Our Tiger was just up on my computer desk...it's really hard to write comments during a release party when your cat is head butting you and reaching out and trying to get your attention!!! Both our cats just love to come on my craft table and SIT right IN THE MIDDLE of my work!!! I am not sure....but I am afraid one of them might have eaten a couple of rhinestones the other day. YIKES!!! Some were missing from the table!!! I enjoyed watching your videos of your Christmas trees and Christmas!!!
Beautiful card and as always beautiful coloring too. Always glad to read your post, and hope you get to Australia and post photos here. See you in Florida. Hugs, Frances.
ReplyDeleteLMBO...great post, Suzanne. Tinkerbell head butts you because that's her way of showing you affection. I think I read that in "Why do cats do that?" There's another one on dogs too. Animals are so funny but we love 'em.
ReplyDeleteThe video was awesome...made me giggle.
Love your Land of OZ card. Tilda is colored so wonderfully and your background is awesome. Cool use of your die cuts, you are so creative.
Thanks for a chance to win your candy...and stay warm.
Hugz,
Cathy Lee
I hate the cold weather too but living in Michigan, it is something to deal with each day all winter long.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the Koala Hug Tilda . I have an Australia pen pal and we have been writing each other since 1965. My dream is to visit her one day in Melbourne. It would be so great to make her a card with that sweet image. Thanks so much for the chance!
My goodness Suzanne, you just never cease to amaze...this card is absolutely awesome it makes you wish that you were sitting beside her. My friend Darlene went to Australia last year and told me many wonderful stories. Australia is on my bucket list as well and I will share a little secret with you, apparently the little Koalas smell like peepee cuz they pee on top of each other while they're all in the trees. So don't nuzzle them too close if you get the chance ;);)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful coloring as usual and love that ribbon treatment!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Cabio
Love your card Suzanne. Tilda is lucky to have such a cute Koala hugging her... I also wish to go to Australia one day!
ReplyDeleteColors and coloring are amazing and I love, love the ribbon! Super cool, liquid applique and diamond glaze does give the appearance of foam and bubbles! You always come up with the neatest tricks! HUGZ
ReplyDeleteI love the taupes you used, and thanks for the tip for how to make the rippled ribbon. It's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteSuzanne, You are just way too funny. I do know what you mean about the cats my Bubba and Felix do the same thing but Bubba licks my tape I think he is trying to get high and when they have to lay accross your coloring area that is so much fun.. Well sweetie I love your card Tilda is just darling, you did a awesome job on her.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Pat
Sorry Suzanne but you cannot complain abou the cold to those of us who live in places like WI! It is cold here all the time! Your kitty is adorable but they do love to cause trouble in the craft room and everywhere else. Mine always wants to sit on me no matter what I am doing; just me though, no one else in the house!
ReplyDeleteLove this cutie pie, Tilda and her adorable koala! How fun! I'd love to have her to add to my tiny collection of Tildas! Thanks for the chance to win her!
Australia is not on my list since i found out it has the worlds most poisonous snake, spider, sea animal, crocs, and so on but it does have Hugh Jackman soooooo I might have to reconsider ;) This is a cutie Maggie I'll definitely be adding her to my list. Thanks for sharing & the chance to get her.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a beautiful card.
ReplyDeleteI love the colors you picked to color your Tilda and Koala and your background is fabulous.
Would love to see you East of PA
Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful talent with all of us!!
Hugs

ReplyDeleteSimply adorable suzanne
ReplyDeleteThe head butt from a cat is called a buss (which means a kiss)and it means that the cat is telling you that he/she loves you and wants a little loving from you. Of course, sometimes the little loving turns into a LOT of loving - same thing happens with my 6 cats!! LOL!!
ReplyDeleteAs always great card. Perfect colors and really cute. I love your blog it brightens my morning and makes me want to leave work to go home and color.
ReplyDeleteBig Hugs,
Dee

ReplyDeleteLove the card! And I totally feel you on the cat thing - mine thinks craft time = lap time! But at least you know yours love you, a head butt is supposed to be the truest sign of feline affection. =)
ReplyDelete
