Forest Fairy!!
Today I’m sharing a project with you that just might be one of my faves this year. Did I tell you I have a slight “obsession” with forest fairies LOL? Ever since I was little I believed they lived in the woods and would make fairy houses for them—so when I saw this image I knew I had to have it! Della, my good friend & owner of I Brake For Stamps asked me to be a guest artist for their new line of stamps they are carrying and I can never tell a friend NO LOL! This stamp is NOW available at I Brake For Stamps along with some other cute ones by the artist Sylvia Zet so you MUST go check them out. This one is called “Silver Fairy” but I reinterpreted her as a forest fairy—isn’t she a beauty? I cannot even tell you how much fun I had coloring her with my Copics—I might do her again but in different colors And I video-taped how I colored her too---yes I darn well did, can you believe it LOL—I haven’t done a video in ages! I don’t mind shooting them but I HATE editing them LOL! It will up this weekend for y’all!
I'm entering this into the following challenges as well:
Anything Goes Challenge Blog (punches/dies)
Papertake Weekly Challenge (anything goes)
Crafty Cardmakers (anything goes)
There's Magic in the Air (go green)
Paper Sundaes (lots of layers)
**Also check out the I Brake For Challenges Blog--the new challenge is "Girl Power"**
So I decided to keep my colors fairly monochromatic—just creams and dk greens, very forestry eh? The papers are all by PTI and they are what really gave me my inspiration—I always pick my papers first before I start coloring! The swirls are dies by Cherry Lynn Designs and the flowers are a mix of Primas and WOC Flowers—and guess what? I Brake For Stamps carries the Wild Orchid flowers here in the US so you can get them faster, LOL—I love FAST!! I added a few pearls to finish it off. The image was dramatic enough that I didn’t want to overwhelm it KWIM.
She’s colored with Copics of course and I used YG97,YG95,YG93,YG91 / E43,E42,E40 / E25,E31,E50 / E11,E00. Then I added stickles to some parts of her wings and flowers and arm/leg cuffs for sparkle. I drew in a bit of grass with my Copics as well and then used my Inkssentials Blending tool to soften the edges of my image with SU ink.
Ok so I’m off to visit with my pal Marti for a bit (yep she still loves me even after the Ohio trip LOL) and then work on some projects and edit video (e-yuck)! See you on Friday!! Make sure to check out the stamps at I Brake For Stamps too!!

ReplyDeleteohhh Suzanne,
ReplyDeletethis card is amazing.
The green colours are so gorgeous.
Yeah for you!! Hard to stick to your guns when a teenage daughter is picking out dresses. It has been many years since I went through this with my daughter, but I did the same thing you did. I was not going to let her step out of the house in what they were "showing" at the moment. At one point I made her her semi-formal dress because there was Nothing that was appropriate in the store. We also used to do the "Bend Over" test for tops. If she bent over, and it was too revealing, it was changed before she went out.
ReplyDeleteWhen she was going for job interviews years later, she called up and said that she did the "Bend Over" test before she dressed for the interview. We still laugh about it. Stay strong. It pays off in the long run.
Wow what a fabulous card. And such a gorgeous image, beautifully coloured. Thanks for joining us at Crafty Cardmakers. xx

This is gorgeous, Suzanne! Your colouring is amazing, and I love the design! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Paper Sundaes!
ReplyDeleteAs a mom of teenage boys, I wish there were more girl moms out there like you. My boys used to come home upset because of how the girls dressed and acted. My youngest actually told a girl to go change before he would take her out. Man was I proud of him! http://visionsofpaper.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Card!! I love it. I may have to purchase this stamp for myself. I love the colors scheme you used too. Awesome as usual, can't wait to watch the video to get all your tricks and tips.

ReplyDeleteand you have got it big time. I LOVE this image & have had it for quite awhile myself & never used it. Now I'm going to grab my Copics & anxiously wait for your video this weekend & try & grab some pointers from you. I have also purchased one of those Inkssential blending brushes so am anxious to see how you use that cool little tool. I NEED inspiration & am hoping this will get my MOJO started. If this doesn't nothing will.

ReplyDeleteSuzanne, I'm speechless......your card is absolutely stunning!!! So gorgeous in those soft colors, I love it!!! Can't wait for the video, and you're right, it would be wonderful to see it in other colors..... You did an amazing job, but then, don't you always????
ReplyDeleteAnd, kudos to you, Mom for sticking to your guns as to what's appropriate for your daughter to wear. I remember doing that sort of thing with my daughter; however, times were different, and she was pretty conservative in her tastes then, so I had it a little easier.
This one might be one of my favs this year as well! :)
ReplyDelete....am there doing that...I'm mentally toasting you..cheers..my daughter is a freshman...
ReplyDeleteI can certainly see why this would be on the top 5 list. It is spectacular...the coloring, the craftmanship, the patterned papers..all look fantastic.
Gosh! How I would absolutely LOVE having a daughter to shop with, buy dresses for and get ready for a prom. You really are so blessed to have two happy healthy wonderful teens and I know they can ALL be trouble at times...but you really are truly very lucky.
ReplyDeleteI love my boys to pieces, but will forever miss my infant daughter and will always wonder what it would like to have had her in my life!
Enjoy your wonderful gift and cherish each memory! You are very fortunate!!
Hugs,
Lis

ReplyDeleteI saw this lovely card on Splitcoast and then lost it. I haven't been there in a while and forgot that I could favorite it. It took nearly three hours of going through all the galleries, and then my history, to finally find it. Did I tell you I love it. You have forced me to admit that green can be wonderful. Not my favorite colour....up until now. Thanks so much for showing the most beautiful card I've ever seen. Of course I haven't been to your gallery yet. Love your blog too.
