Hey there friends—how are you this Monday?! Did you all celebrate Father’s Day yesterday with your families? We spent the day at home chilling, got some MD Blue Crabs and grilled out on the patio with hubby. That’s what he wanted, so that’s what we did, LOL. I must say I could not ask for a better Dad for my two kiddoes than my hubby—he has a great relationship with them and I’m always so grateful for his partnership in raising the kids! He’s the BEST!!
Saturday night me, Alexa, my mom-in-law and Alexa’s friend went to see Sugarland in concert---whooooowheeee were they good! We traveled 4 hours to Pennsylvania to see them and it was soooooooooooooooo WORTH it---boy can Jennifer Nettles sinnnnng (I sooo love her)! We had front seats behind the crazy pit and they were excellent—they put on a great show (see pics below) We had a blast and it was hilarious trying to get down the mountain with the 1000’s of people, LOL---my mom-in-law was stressed OUT when I told her to “just sit back, that I was channeling my inner NYC cabbie driver self” hee hee! But sometimes I just gotta break it out and use it at times when its needed & if you’ve ever tried getting out of a concert like this where people are drunk, tailgating & partying (whoohooo, lol) you know how it is! We had a few drunks lean into the truck with us (nice ones of course) and I just laughed---the rest of the crew were a wee bit skeeered, hee hee! You just gotta roll with the flow
But it was a great weekend and now I’ve got lots to get done this week as we leave for Hilton Head, SC on Friday for our annual 2 week beach vacation. My posting will be sporadic during those couple of weeks but check in cuz’ I’ll be sharing some projects, stories of course and pictures while I’m away. If you are down that way and you SEE ME---come say Hello cuz I’d love to meet you! If you see a crazy woman, laughing loudly and fooling around---THEN you know it’s MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE I make it my mission to have a good time every day and the beach is a healing place for me and my family---we enjoy every day there.

I decided to dig into my paper scrap stash (which is gigantic) and use some up so this has a mix of PTI, Gina K and Kaisercraft papers. I used this super sweet “Tilda with Kite” from the Sweet Rainbow Collection---you can see the whole sweeter than sweet collection HERE at Magnolia-licious! I loved coloring in some non-traditional colors like this—I love going against what “should” be done (the rebel in me, hee hee). The scrolls were done with a Marianne Designs and the black cs got embossed with a CB embossing folder.
This cutie got colored up with Copics C9,C7,C5,C3,C1,C00/ R29,R24,R22,R20 /E11,E00 and then stardust Stickles on her shirt, hairbands and kite. I cut the image so the kite came out the side a bit—gives it some extra fun!
If you read closely here is some sugar blog candy for ya---I’m giving away 4 Magnolia stamps of your choice if you answer this question “If you created a kite, what would you have on it?” on this post by Friday (and come on let’s be creative & funny---if you tickle my funny bone you could win something extra)!!
Super adorable card, Suzanne! Love those papers you used!! You've colored Tilda so beautifully!! I love it!
ReplyDeletehugs, Sharon
Hi Suzanne, this is so adorable, love the papers, swirls and design. I'm in awe of your colouring skills, Tilda is beautiful, love how you've got her little kite flying.
ReplyDeleteHugs
Suzi x
Your usual fabulousness, Suzanne! Love it! Cheryl
ReplyDeleteWow I love it:) Tilda is looking so beautiful:)
ReplyDeleteOh so beautifully colored Suzanne! I love this Tilda and the way you've offset all the panels is gorgeous. Beautifully done girl...hugs...Barb
ReplyDeleteWow! THis is fantastic! : )
ReplyDeleteSuch a cutie! Love her!
ReplyDeleteHI Suzanne,
ReplyDeleteBEAUTIFUL CARD!!! Love how you have that kite out of the box.Swirls are very eye catching!!
And now I can't believe that you went to see SugarLand without me!!!!!!!!! LOL.
So glad that you all had a great time.
Happy week to you hugzzzzzz, Janiel
Suzanne,
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a fantastic trip! We are leaving for our beach vacation in the Hamptons next week, and I cannot be more excited. It too, is a relaxing time with my family on the beach, cant wait!!!
HMMM if I were to create a kit, it would be a huge butterfly. I love butterflies and love the beautiful colors. I think they look so pretty flying though the sky in vibrant colors. With two little boys, I always end up flying Spiderman or Buzz kites, so something girlie would suit me just fine!!! LOL.
Take care friend, and have a fun and relaxing time with your family!!!
OH wow this is kite flyin' high girl! Wonderful. love your flourishes and coloring is drop dead gorge! Wonderful creation! A kite design hey? I would put a sun, moon & stars and tell my kids to reach for them all as their journey thru life evolves! Thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteWonderful card! Love the way you used all the straight edges with mostly rectangles layering the patterns and colors and then the swirls to just set them off. Tilda is so cute with her little red kite.
ReplyDeleteWhat a darling little kite flyer you made! Oh gee if I created a kite I think it's have to be made of foil with lots of glitter so when it floated way up high you see it twinkle in the sky! Patti
ReplyDeleteGreat card, like the way the kite is out of the frame.
ReplyDelete** kate **
Suzanne, LOVE your gorgeous card! Love all the layers, the touch of red, and little Tilda flying her kite is so sweet! If I were making a kite, I'd plaster it with pics of my dh, as he's warned me NOT to post pics of him on my blog, FB, etc. LOL
ReplyDeleteSuzanne, this is another adorable card--love what you did with the kite! You think outside-the-box. I would love to have that kind of mind! :^)
ReplyDeleteIf I could put anything on a kite, it would be my hubby. I love him so much; but sometimes, when he annoys me, it would be fun to just send him up in the air for awhile. You know, to cool his jets. ;^)
LOVE your card!!
ReplyDeleteIf I could put anything on a kite, it would be the kids!!!!
I love them; but sometimes, bang- ZOOM- to the Moon!!
Or
MYSELF!!!
Just to get away!!! LOL
Darling card as usual. I love red as a "pop" color and the way you've blended your different textures and patterns. As far as designing a kite I would like it to have a large bar of slippery soap so it could slip out of the trees that it always gets caught in! Those kite flying adventures were always short lived.
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely Suzanne!
ReplyDeleteHugs Monique
I love your card and have to agree with Kate...I like how the kite is off the page.
ReplyDeleteIf I were to have something on a kite....It would have to be Johnny Depp, well a picture of him at least because he makes my heart and ? sore! He is so flippin' hot!
Hi Suzanne! Adorable card! I love Tilda flying her kite! Red,Black and White always look sharp together! I love how you have Tilda's Kite!
ReplyDeleteHmmm. What would I put on a kite?
My first thought is that I would put Tilda flying her kite on my kite! I would have to stamp the image and then blow it up? It would be a challenge, but I think it would come out cute! Then I would tie lots of lots of pretty colored ribbons all around and on the tail! Will it fly? That, I can't promise!! LOL! :-)
Have a great day!
Hugs,
Sheryl
Darling card with beautiful coloring. Love the sweet swirling :-)
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Cabio
This is just too cute!!! I love this Tilda and your coloring is perfect!
ReplyDeleteRene :D
Stunning card! Glad your trip went well. I would create a kite in the shape of labels die and decoate it with polka dots using all my different inks. The polka dots would be made with different craft items dipped in the inks.
ReplyDeleteA cute Tilda card. Glad you are having fun this summer. Sounds like a blast. I love Sugarland too. My favorite by Sugarland song is the one they did of Brooks and Dunn's Red Dirt Road. Best song ever!
ReplyDeleteREally adorable. Love your coloring.
ReplyDeleteHugs
danielle
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your cards!!! I think if I was making a kite I would put a pig on it and then when somebody says when pig's fly... I would fly my kite!!!
ReplyDeletebrigitteetleschats at hotmail dot com
Great card! If I created a kite I would put a hot air balloon on it.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cardd - cute image - saw it on Inspire me Fridays x
ReplyDeleteSuzanne, your card is just delightful! Tilda looks so sweet!
ReplyDeleteI love the red, black and white!
Hugs Julie P
GORGEOUS card, Suzanne! I really love your POP of red...never too much for me!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you had fun at the concert!
Hmmmm...if I were to design a kite, it would be in the shape of the sun and of course it would have to be neon yellow ~ That way, the sun would always be shining from above.
Thanks so much for a chance to win!
Barb
Super beautiful card Suzanne! The red really 'pops' too :-) Glad you had fun at the Sugarland concert. They're coming to MI on July 9th and we've got some awesome seats as well. I CAN'T WAIT! Jennifer is my current fave.
ReplyDeleteAngie
What a darling card!! Makes the "go fly a kite" phrase way too inviting!!! Tilda is colored so sweetly and the papers are perfect, love this!!!
ReplyDeleteI too love Sugarland, they are so fantastic. And Jennifer can really sing the daylights out of a song like no one else!!! You were so lucky to see them in person. Maybe they'll make it out here this go round.....
Did Waldo go to the Sugarland concert with you?? I don't see him there.
ReplyDeleteOh if I could create any kind of kite I wanted & if it was gigantic & could hold A TON OF WEIGHT...........heeheehee......then I would staple by hubby to it (or use my handy dandy nailgun).....cuz he's driving me bonkers today. LOL Of course I would be ever so gentle cuz you know I'm not the violent type (hehehe).
ReplyDeleteNow onto your FABulously cuuuuuute card, Suz! Love, love, love it!!! I've always been a huge fan of black & white combos with a splash of this or that. And that red sure makes it pop off the page. Love it!
Happy Huggies ~ and glad you enjoyed the Sugarland concert. I'm a huge country fan. Love me some Rascal boys & some Blake & some Tim & some & some........yummers! You get the idea. I better stop before I get nailed to a kite. LOL
Sharron♥
I love her little kite.
ReplyDeleteIf I designed a kite, it would have me on it so I could see what it's like to fly.
Adorable card! If I could make a kite I think I'd add a dragon for my son. He loves them! Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteCute card. Like the red in it. Sounds like you had a fabulous week end. Where do you get all your energy? LOL Edna
ReplyDeleteYour card is precious! Oh I love sugarland :O)
ReplyDeleteLove the colors. I agree that the non-traditional look is awesome. I would have a lot of bling and colored streamers lots of them. I might even have to have a very colorful dragon. LOL Thanks
ReplyDeleteThis is just too cute. Love how you colored Tilda. Pretty paper.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great combination of papers to go with this absolutely adorable Tilda! Love how you've colored her Suzanne and the out of the box kite is just too cute!!! Beautiful card!
ReplyDeleteI would paint a great big "smile on it" and turn into a six year old again. I want to be just like you,Suzanne when I grow up, I love your magic fingers on paper!!! LOL..Denise
ReplyDeleteGreat story.. as usual. HE HE HE
ReplyDeleteI just love your magnolia card!!! Maybe I need to get that one - it is just so stinkin cute!
Hugs
Marie
love your kite and i really enjoy flying kits ever since i saw mary poppins and heard the song lets go fly a kite. If i could create my own kite i would probaby have tweety and sylvester on it cause that me all the way. thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI like this card very much.
ReplyDeleteSabina
fab card Suzanne. Hope you have a fantastic holiday, look forward to seeing pics. We spend Father's day by the pool in Lanzarote and then flying home that night.
ReplyDeleteMy kite would have to have my family on it- that way when they all get a wee bit toooo mcuh for me I can send them up into the clouds for a wile and get some peace and quiet. Gotta love them but we all need a little me time some days lol
x
Great card as always! For a kite I would put a picture of my family so every time I looked into the sky I would see their shining faces looking back at me! What a beautiful sight that would be!
ReplyDeleteFunny...I just mentioned this to my DH last night that flying a kite is one thing I have never done!
ReplyDeleteIf I had one...it would be in the shape of a butterfly.
Cathy
You have crazy, mad talent Suzanne! Talk about a card that pops! Wow, wow, WOW!
ReplyDeleteIf I could design a kite with wahtever I could put on it, I would put a picture of my cardiologist and endocronologist who just saved my life. I had been told my chest pain was left over from MRSA antibiotics by my infestous disease doctor. My diabetes doctor didn't believe it and called my cardiologist. I had a 99% blockage despite having a normal EKG and bloodwork! So my Kite would send a message of keep pushing and looking for answers. Don't assume your doctors know everything!
ReplyDeleteHi Suzanne - If I created a kite it would be filled with beautiful butterflies and birds and they would fly me to your house just before you leave on one of your very exciting trips - we would then have an absolutely fantastic time laughing, joking, clowning, kareoking (sp?) and making people laugh and sooooo happy to have us around!!! WOW sounds like a great time, huh!!! BTW, love your card. Hugs, Sharon :o)
ReplyDeleteWhat an elegant card, Suzanne, great to see that look for a children's card, it works really well. Thanks for sharing with us at Card Makin' Mamas!
ReplyDeleteI love your Tilda with the kite! My favourite colour combo too! Black and white with a touch of red!
ReplyDeleteIf I designed a kite, it would look like an alien spaceship in the sky--I'd love to see the expression on some people's faces! lol
Beautiful - I love the colors of the card & used on Tilda! If I made a kite, it would definitely be vintage, lol. I would put butterflies on it, definitely, lol.
ReplyDeleteLove your adorable Tilda with her kite! Red and black is one of my fav combos so this card gets extra points for that! Hee-hee! If I were making a kite it would be blue and would have lots of colorful kites on it so it would lok like lots of kites flying in the sky!
ReplyDeleteSuzanne - your coloring continues to amaze me! As for my kite - I would color my kite with folds/creases because that's what I find the hardest to do. The kite would have to have a harness and one of those sandbags things like on a hot air balloon because this Georgia girl is petrified of heights and my feet can't leave the ground!!
ReplyDeleteSuzanne
ReplyDeleteLove your Tilda in red. If I made a kite it would have to be a rainbow. TFS your creativity. Your coloring is great and I would love to take a class from you.
ok, if I had a kite I would attach a worm to it. Why you ask? A poor little worm never gets out of the ground and if it does it never gets off of the ground. Never do I see a worm up high and by high I mean a foot off of the ground. So it is time the little worm got to see what was up high for a change. Then he could go back to worm town and tell all of the other worms what it is like up high. Ok, yeah, I must be one sick person but if you think about it, ya gotta feel sorry for the lowly little worm
ReplyDeleteYour card is beautiful...I love your coloring.
ReplyDeleteIf I had to design a kite, it would have butterflies on it.
Thank you for the chance to win..
Cheryl W.
Your card is gorgeous! If I created a kite, I would put a pterodactyl on it I know, I know - not too creative : )
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win, and have a fantastic holiday!
Fabulous papers you have chosen and love the swirls, they give lots of texture. If I had a kite it would have lots and lots of colourful streamers.
ReplyDeletehugs, Diana in very hot Arizona
Gorgeous card! I would put a cute pig on my kite and it would have a long curly tail...when pigs fly! Thanks for the opportunity to win!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card, coloring is fabulous. Now on to the question “If you created a kite, what would you have on it?” I would have butterflies all over it in multi colors and of course it would have to have glitter on them
ReplyDeleteLouise
Your Card is beautiful love how you've colored it
ReplyDeleteIf I had a kite it would have to be a dragon kite with the little bows on the tail just so it has those flaps in the wind and of course if someone got to close to it with my luck it would wrap around their kite and come crashing to the ground lol
thanks for the chance
hugs Nikki
beautiful card as always suzanne.
ReplyDeletenow, what would i put on a kite? that's a toughy! how about a glittery tilda to see her twikle in the sun? well, if we ever get any sun that is!!
Kathleen mc xx
Have a great vacation! Didn't you have a secret hairstyle change last year during your vacation?
ReplyDeleteIf I were making a kite, I would cover it with beautiful Webster's Pages paper and put lots of bling on it. Stickles, rhinestones, Glimmer Mist, glitter, etc., the more the better. Then I would add some crinkly seam binding for the tail and use some Glubers to attach some Prima flowers. That way it would have all of my favorite things and would shine brightly up in the sky.
Pat
Hi there my friend!! Love this card! Especially the kite peaking over the edge. Love your techniques, as always.
ReplyDeleteIf I were designing a kite, I think I would make it like a rainbow, with my daughter at the end of the rainbow, as she is such a treasure. And makes my heart sing....makes me crazy too, but that's what daughter's do!
Thank you so much for the chance to win! Was thinking of you the other day as I ordered more markers! Now for more practice...LOL.
Love ya-
Sue Brailey
Love that story. It always takes me so long to read everything do not want to miss anything. As always your card is stunning. Lets see a kite make it a bird flying. I love bird. Have a fun vacation.
ReplyDeleteHugs
So adorable! So... if I were to make a kite it would have flowers and butterflies on them. My daughter loved butterflies and flowers so I would fly a kite in her memory. :)
ReplyDeleteYour hands have magic in them, what ever you touch is always gorgeous, please grant me a wish so some of my cards would look like yours.
ReplyDeleteAs always "WOW".
Love your stories, and your talent with cards. I'm envious of both!! I find that I look forward to all your emails everyday with anticipation. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the black and white coloring
Keep going strong!
wow this card is gorgeous and the image it's very very pretty.
ReplyDeleteFrancy
Oooh, a dragon image kite would be really cool - gold on red, maybe even a fire-breathing dragon!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your inspiration... I love black&white theme!!! :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeos card, beautyful sketch and papers
