Happy Friday Friends! Thanks to all for the well wishes from those of you who found out I was very sick. I was in the hospital with a nice and nasty viral infection that got into my stomach and intestines and has caused me a lot of pain, bleeding and vomiting. But I am on bed rest thru today and then hopefully the prison warden......ahem........my husband (lol) will let me up to do some work. I like bed rest and hospitals about as much as SNAKES, blech and yes I'm NOT a good patient at all. I'm argumentative, stubborn and a pain in the rear I know, LOL, I was not meant for sitting for long periods of time. And this is why they sent me home I believe, not only am I HIGHLY contagious (lol) but they were a bit scared of me, hee hee. When I'm ready to go, I'm ready to go---I know how to take out an IV line as I've done it a few times before (don't ask, lol) and they saw that crazy look in my eye. I'm sure they were on the verge of calling the mental ward, but hey--they let me go........lucky them! bwhahaha
Pros of being sick:
* lost 7 lbs in 2 days, how often does THAT ever happen?
*caught up on all my email and 4 classes of copic homework are checked
*totally finished reading the last 2 months of Pioneer Woman's blog who I had been neglecting, but never fails to cheer me up & make me laugh (I happen to think we are sistah's from anotha' motha' LOL)
*listening to my extensive & eclectic ITunes library--where was ITunes when I WAS a teen, I love music like I love a good book! A must-have in my life!
*got to pretend what a life of leisure would be like---guess what? I'm sooooo NOT diggin' it!
Cons of being sick:
*nausea & vomiting, need I say more
*an increasing to-do list that is growing by the minute
*kids in house doing lord knows what when momma ain't lookin'
*blurry vision
*nausea & vomiting, LOL AND NO CHERRY COKE--my life is ending people! Wahhhhh!
But Thank god hubby didn't take my lifeline.....errrrr....laptop away from me! So if you got a response email from me that made NO SENSE, chalk it up to my meds, LOL and being sick! So don't worry about me, I'll be just fine---I bounce back like the Energizer Bunny! I wanted so badly to do some reading but my concentration level isn't so good and my vision a bit blurry so that I haven't done but I did load up with some new books which I'm itching to get at soon--will let you know my review after I'm done with them.
Want some awesome recommendations that I just read or music I currently love (well sorry if you don't, just skip the next section, LOL):
READ:
*Emily & Einstein by Linda Francis Lee---if you love animals and a great read, get this NOW! Read it in one night :)
*The Four Ms. Bradwells by Meg Waite Clayton (her "The Wednesday Sisters" from a bit ago is awesome too)
*The Dressmaker of Khair Khana--awesome and great for book club readers too, very eye-opening!
LISTEN TO:
*Adele's "21" album---each song is a jewel! (her voice is like what I THINK mine sounds like in the shower--and yes I know it doesn't which is WHY you will never hear me sing outside the shower, lol)
*Zac Brown Band's "Colder Weather"--gorgeous & my fave (their "Chicken Fried" is fun too)
*Chuck Wicks' "Old School"--just fun & reminds me of summer in high school (and did I say he is C-U-T-E) ;)
*David Gray is my perpetual fave and go to music any day--discovered him over 10 years ago and still love all his songs---best IMO is "As I'm Leaving"
*Panic at the Disco---"Let's Kill Tonight"--rocker anthem I love it
*Ellie Goulding--"Lights"---light but energizing
*Raphael Saadiq---"Radio"--old & new school pop coolness
*Eli Young Band "Crazy Girl"--just fun & cool
*Anything by Colt Ford--crazy country rapper but "Ride thru the Country" & "Dirt Road" are my faves (reminds me of my growin' up times)
*And how can you NOT LOVE Glee's new one "Loser Like Me"--lovin' it!
* NEW Prisma Pencil Class 1 is up and premiering at the CMC Classroom! My pal Marti Wills is the instructor and she has done a fabulous, detailed job on this class. You will find a full class description at the classroom HERE (hover mouse over Class Description/Pricing tab to see class)--it includes video instruction & printables along with weekly chats. So if you are wanting to delve into coloring or improving your coloring with colored pencils, this is the class for you!
**Also if you haven't entered for my yummy Spring Blog Candy yet--you can still do so, just click HERE!
**I'm still trying to raise money thru March 30th on the CMC Donation Page to World Vision which benefits the Japanese Earthquake/Tsunami Relief Fund. For every $3 you donate you will be entered to win a Brand Spankin' New 2011 Ltd Edition Cricut Expression (donated so generously by Provocraft to raise money for this great cause) & a $50 Gift Cert. to Oozak.com. Or you can just donate anonymously! All funds go to a great cause! You can DONATE or find out more HERE!
All of my papers are by My Mind's Eye "Fine & Dandy" line--perfect candy colored-spring colors and all cs is by Paper Trey Ink. For my images I used images from the Stamp Fairy called "Clementine Easter Set 1" which Gerda the owner created for me to use in the magazine (she is soooo sweet)! The swirls are by...yep...my favorite dies by Marianne Designs. And I added a fun bow made with matching PTI ribbon and some PTI buttons.
Yes Ms. Clementine the Bunny got colored with Copics---I kept her in soft grays to match the sweet pastel like colors: C3,C1,C00/R22,R20,R000,BG14,BG11,BG10. The egg got a coat of Diamond Glaze & then I topped off the paint and her hair bows with Stickles for some sparkle.
Here is my matching box-basket to go along with the card. This is EASY to make I swear, lol! I used some of those AWESOME NEW Spellbinders Grand Nestabilities in Oval to create it. If you think the Grands are for scrapbookers only--you are so WRONG!! The first 4 shapes in each set will fit thru your Cuttlebug and mat the other smaller nesties you own perfectly and they create great shapes for these kind of projects or shaped cards. I don't have room for my Cricut Expression (sadly) to sit in my craft room so I rely on dies most of the time and these large ones are fabulous! AND yes I do love the Spellbinders Grand Caliber--it embosses beautifully and fits all the large sized dies too. The grass on the bottom of my basket was done with a fabby MFT Die-namics die HERE (they look to be out of stock, but email them if you really want/need one). The sentiment is from a PTI stamp set that I cut into sentences so I could stack them into a shorter version--easy to do with those acrylic stamps!
To create the box-basket you need to cut out your ovals first with your dies and then measure them across and just make a simple box pattern according to your new dimensions for width & height. I made mine a bit higher on the sides so you could easily stuff some larger goodies in there. Fill that baby up with some yummy treats & small gifts and anyone would love to receive this on Easter morning!
Hope you all have a fabulous weekend! I hope to see you back here on Monday :) I fly out next Friday for Phoenix to teach and will come home the following Monday--looking forward to the sunny weather!

ReplyDeleteSuzanne, I am so sorry to hear about the illness. It seems like this things is going around. Everyone that I know has "it". I am just getting over it too. You need to rest so that you are strong enough to do your traveling. Please rest at home. It will be worth it because you don't want to cancel your trips, I know. I will be praying for a speedy recovery and a fell recovery. The card is really a cutie......
ReplyDeleteOh, my dear Suzanne, I'm so sorry you're so sick! Prayiing you're back on your feet and doing all your normal high energy activities soon! Sending you a great big (((HUG)))!
ReplyDeleteSuzanne, you still need to rest. Try not to do too much still and relax.
ReplyDeleteyou poor thing, get well soon.
ReplyDeleteLove the projects you created here, fabulous. Also love the 21 album by Adele, it's amazing and my voice too sounds like hers in the shower lol!
Suzanne,
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear you are sick and I hope you get better soon. I know how you feel about not being able to do anything but you need your rest to get better so stay in bed and rest up.
Have you ever heard of Justin Nozuka? I love his music I discovered him on a John Mayer music cruise. YES, I went on a cruise for John Mayer my little cousin LOVES him and he does have some nice music and when he is not talking crazy to the media he is really down to earth.
Your card is beautiful as usual.
OMGoodness!! You poor dear! I just couldn't believe what I was reading! You really need to take care of yourself first, don't worry about the workload, it will still be there when you get back on your feet. But if you don't rest and take care of yourself, you're going to get knocked down again. I don't blame you for not wanting to stay at the hospital, they are not fun:0! Focus your energy on getting better and get your much needed rest.
ReplyDeleteHugz,
Maria
So sorry to hear you are sick, feel better soon wishes your way.
ReplyDeleteOkay you mentioned somewhere to go to try to win the new expression, but not really sure what link is the correct one.
I've been MIA for a while from the CMC group so was shocked to see you had been hospitalised but pleased you are on the mend. You are an amazing woman with everything you have on the go so hopefully although not pleasant it has given you the rest you needed.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous creation as usual though. Hugs Tracy x
Holy crow, you poor thing! I am glad you are on the mend! I agree, Adelle's album is the best! Try and take it easy!!!!
ReplyDeleteSuzanne, I'm so glad you are going to join us. I wanted to tell you how much I love these colors together. Your card is wonderful and such a cutie Patotie.. I'm going to have to make something with those colors. Just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteOh my.... Please feel better soon. If you need another great book selection to read during your recovery. A must is A Discovery of Witches. It is the first in a trilogy. It is the grown up version of the twilight series. I read it when it came out and could not put it down.
