Winter Bunny Hugz!

Hello friends and Happy Wednesday to you!  What's everyone up to this week??  I really need to clean out and organize my craft room before it literally eats me ALIVE!  No lie--it is ridiculously messy and I've had no time to put things away.  I have about 7 or 8 boxes filled with new goodies that I have yet to go thru and find a new home for. I have the last 2 PTI releases still sitting in their boxes--the HORROR I tell you!  Part of the problem is that I've just run out of room and I've had NO time the past 2 months to really clean it all out.  I have ADVISED my hubby that I need a bigger room and we need to blow out the side of the house, but he didn't think that was such a great idea, LOL!  So I plan on doing that within the next week or so because it is making me CRAZY--I hate clutter and my room is nothing but MESS, it's messin' with my mojo!  I need to go to Target and get some more bins and just have at it for a day KWIM!  Anyone wanna help me??? LOL---I'll pay you in free craft goodies and then we can sit and have some hot cocoa on my patio, ok!!  :)

Winter Bunny Hugz!!

Today is another fun challenge for the 7 Kids College Fund Challenge Blog!  This time our hostess is Manuela and the challenge is "Layers & Flowers"--two of my most favorite things, hee hee!  I used one of the absolutely BEAUTIFUL new Sarah Kay Fall & Winter stamps called "Rose Cuddling Winter Bunny"--see the whole collection HERE!  They are just stunning and so sweetly drawn, and yes I got one of each, lol!  Make sure to stop by the Challenge Blog to see all the DT's beautiful projects and see how you can join in to win something FUN!!

I decided to use one of my fave color combos of blues, cream and browns--great for winter and soothing too!  My dp is by TaDa Designs (from last year) and I distressed all my edges with my Zutter Distress Tool--if you don't have one you NEED this tool!  I love it--run your paper one way and it gets lightly distressed and run it the opposite way for heavier distressing.  I love, love the new Spellbinders dies as well---I used "Beaded Oval Nesties" for my matting behind the image.  (see all the new dies here-scroll down towards the bottom).  I added some small pale blue pearls to each bead around the die-cut.  I also cut my image out by tracing it with the die first and cutting by hand so I could have her boot stick out the edge and then I matted it with the entire die cut.  The scrolls are by Marianne Designs and the sentiment is from PTI.

And yes she got colored with Copics--I colored her pants in brown and then actually used a Colorless Blender technique to make them look like suede by adding some blender to a pc of velvet and dabbing it on top of my coloring.  I used E27,E25,E34,E31/B97,B95,B91 and to get the pale blue on her boots I used my Colorless Blender pen to pick up color from my B91.  Then I topped her wellies off some diamond glaze for shine.  The snow is Martha Stewart Snow Glitter (I LOVE this stuff for snow) and I also added some stickles to her hat, scarf trim and some snowflakes behind her.

The flowers were done by taking a snowflake punch (Martha Stewart) and some blue Prima roses and in between I punched cream flowers with my Nellie Snellen punches (love these).  I inked the edges of the cream flowers with brown ink to match the overall look of the card and then attached them all together and added to the card.

Now for some Blog Candy to start off the soon-to-be Holiday Season!  I've got a Stampavie Sarah Kay (same one I used but a new one, lol), Cosmo Cricket Mitten Weather paper pad and a Martha Stewart snowflake punch and pack of Prima roses!  Just tell me "What is your FAVORITE Wintertime activity?" by Friday to win!!

Make sure to stop by the 7 Kids Challenge Blog to join in the fun!!!

  74. First of all, good luck with the organizing and cleaning. I'm in the same predicament...more stuff than room and way too messy. Thankfully, we just put all my stuff in one of the bedrooms and all I have to do is get it put away. Hope you are able to create your crafty haven soon.

As for my favorite winter activity? Well, I love to take walks during the first few snows. Its always amazing to me the transformation of the trees and grasses as the snow covers them in that white cold blanket. Then, I have to sit and sip hot cocoa with my girls, complete with little marshmallows.

    Smiles!

  90. First off you card is delectable.

I guess I am still a kid when it comes to winter. I can not wait to have enough snow to go outside and build a snowman!!! My yard just isn't complete without one in front of my house. I also love to take a walk in a light soft snowfall. Nothing more beautiful!!!

  93. I collect holiday decorations on my travels, so my favorite activity is to decorate my tree. It usually takes all night as we reminisce as we take each decoration out of the box. I love it when one of my children spot a decoration and says 'remember when'

  94. I love your card!! My favorite wintertime past time is making cocoa, putting in a Disney movie and snuggling up with my girls (6 & 8) to watch and giggle with them. they grow up WAY too fast!
thanks for the chance to win some candy.

  96. I like to ice skate, but now I'm too old & afraid to fall, so my favorite winter activity is drinking hot chocolate in front of the fire.

Love the card and I'd definitely help you clean if I lived about 6 hrs closer.

  97. My favorite wintertime activity is reading. I can curl up with tea and read.

  98. Your card is just beautiful.

My favorite wintertime indoor activity is of course card making and crafting but if it is snowing and not too much wind I love walking at night so peaceful......

  99. What day do you want someone to come and help you organize your craft room?! Of course, it will probably take two days as I would have to ohh and yaa over all of your new things first! I love to organize! My favorite winter time activity is sitting near the fireplace and enjoying whichever hobby I might be working on at that time. Your card is gorgeous!

  100. I love your blue and brown color combo! I wish I did live closer as I love organizing craft supplies.

My favorite wintertime activity is wrapping up gifts while listening to Christmas music.

  102. my favorite winter activity is - cuddling up in front of the fire with either a good book or an old movie - watched one the other day -"majority of one" - what a simple love story!

  103. Great card. I really love this color combo.
My favorite wintertime activity is to sit by the fire and drink hot cocoa. And maybe add a movie to that....

  104. I would really like to see a picture of your craft room at it's worst. I know it doesn't take long for my craft table to get unbearable, hardly a place to work and I keep piling stuff on top of each other. The problem with me is, the first project that I make once I do clean my table, it's already a mess because I have to try so many items to see how they go with my creation and can't put anything away until I've made my final decisions.

  105. Suzanne, I love your card! The stamp is so precious, and your coloring is awesome, as usual!
My fave winter activity is getting the house clean and all decorated for Christmas, then sitting down to relax at night with a cup of hot cocoa with the house lights turned off and all of the Christmas lights on. It is so peaceful.

  106. Absolutely stunning card. I love the colour combination especially.

My favourite winter activity is walking our dog (when it's not too cold for both of us!). She hates the cold... but she LOVES playing in the snow. It never fails to make me smile to watch her running around in the snow, shoveling her nose through it and then tossing it up in the air and trying to catch it!

  107. Winter activity...? Well, we live in Arizona (Sun about 360 days a year!) so winter is a relative term. Shirt sleeve weather 90% of the time. However, I love to open all the windows, turn on a great Book on CD, make a pot of tea and craft! Paper crafting, card making (especially with my copics and my sewing machine!) sewing, quilting or machine embroidery usually.

All your inspiration has been so very appreciated. You share your exceptional work and your color mastery in every posting. Always, always get me thinking outside of MY box which is so wonderful. I sure hope you will be adding Arizona to your teaching schedule!

  108. Beautiful card and love your coordinated colors! My favorite winter time activity is wrapping up in a nice warm blanket in front of the fireplace with some Hot Spiced/mulled Cider and a good movie with lovely scented candles burning everywhere! Winter is not my friend, so nice warm things like this are wonderful! Thanks for the opportunity to play along, and again, love you you used the beaded nestie.

  109. Hi Suzanne ;)
My favorite wintertime activity is sledding with my kids. When the snow is fresh and has some puffy in it to catch me, I feel safe to take on our steep hill. I scream just as loud as my girls! The hard part is climbing back up the hill.
I grew up in Hawaii, so it is like getting a second childhood, but instead of waves, I get snow!!!
I like the colors you put together...brown and blue go so well together. Thank you for the extra touches of swirlies...gotta love swirlies. :)

  110. Wow, you really make B-E-A-Utiful cards. They're a real inspiration to me. This one as well :).

My favorite wintertime activity is taking a long walk on the beach on on a nice, cold but sunny winter day. And of course a nice warm cup of hot cocoa at the end :).

  111. Love this card. She is really cute and your coloring is amazing. Thanks for explaining how you got those nice light colors. My favorite thing to do in the winter time is to stay inside and stamp. If it SNOWS I'm really happy!!!

My favorite winter activity is playing in the snow with my son, who's now 8 1/2 so who knows if he still wants to play with mom:)

  113. I really don't have a favorite winter activity... most of the winter activities are not fun at least outside. I do like to put on my fleece sweats, shirt and slippers. Get a bowl of popcorn and sit in front of the TV with an chick flick. I don't have a fireplace, but I do have a favorite blanket I keep on my couch. Tks for sharing your creation, love the colors you used.

  114. What a great card! I love that image and the way you trimmed around her boot. Cool nestie too. My favorite wintertime activity is to go to the snow! Yes, I live in San Diego and we don't get it here, so I go and visit it in the mountains. Thanks, Pam

  115. Hi Suzanne, I love this card. I love the colors and the way that you have colored her. I would soooo come help you clean if I lived within 100 miles. :O) Maybe next time. I have to tell you though, I really see your daughter in this stamp. Her face looks just like her. I think is is as adorable as the one that you friend made that looks like you. When I was a teenager my favorite thing to do in the winter was to go goose hunting with my Dad. Now, I would have to say taking a walk with dh and kids in the snow as it is falling and it is night, but the snow makes the whole world glow. It is new snow, so it is white and looks like heaven on earth. I love it! Have a great Friday and happy cleaning. Hugs, Lisa

  116. Beautiful card, Suzanne...love the colors!!!!

Living in sunny southern CA, a favorite outdoor relaxing activity is to enjoy the nice weather and read on my patio. However indoors in the winter, I like to bake cranberry nut bread for the holidays. Takes me back to days when my family was around and my late husband and the kids loved to have me bake it...it didn't last long!!!

  117. I am so lucky to live in Europe and we love to go skying in Austria! The mountains are so beautiful, all covered in snow and when you're lucky you get some sunshine too! Last year we had a holiday of seven days and were lucky enough to have 6 whole days with beautiful sunshine!
Your card looks lovely again! Love the colors.

    Hugs,

  122. Ohhh Suzanne!!! This card just blows me away! This is one of my fav color combos and you really ran away with it! WOW! What a creative way to make such a cool flower...never would have thought to use snowflakes! The die cut frame with the blue pearls really enhances this adorable image! Such a gorgeous card! :)

My favorite winter time thing to do is head to the woods to see what treasures nature has left for me. Living in the South, we have an abundance of Kudzu (UGHHH!)which is FABULOUS for making wreaths! It's so pliable and with all its twists and knots, it's amazing what all you can create!

    Hugs~

  123. Suzanne.....Your card is just beautiful!!!! I love all those blues! My favorite winter activity, don't laugh.....is shoveling snow at night!!! Now, I haven't fallen and hit my head, I just truly enjoy the peacefulness of it. When the snow is falling so hard and there are no cars going up and down my street....and all you can hear is the snow hitting the ground and your own breathing......there is something really calming about that to me. I know, I'm weird....but, that's what I do to destress.

  124. Your card today is so beautiful. Love the blues.
My favorite winter activity is walking with my dog along the river while it snows. So peaceful.

  125. darling creations as always.

My fav. winter activity, well, lets see, I live in Texas and there isn't always winter weather. But, every year for Christmas, my hubs drives me to Interlocken, which is a Dallas community that decorates every block. We stop and pick up Starbucks peppermint hot chocolate and with the grandson in tow we drive through the subdivision oohing and aaahing at the Christmas extravaganza listening and singing along to each Christmas carole on the radio. Zackary is only 7 this Christmas but in the past he's always sang the songs using the words he thought they were saying in the songs. But last year in school, he learned to sing Oh Tannebaum in German and English. It was really neat as none of us really knew any of the words except, Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree. Looking forward to hearing the caroles again this Christmas season. :O)

  127. You are such a colorful artist! My favorite wintertime activity is taking my kids to a Christmas Tree Farm here in Pa., walk around find the best tree, the men cut it down (husband and son), kids drink hot chocolate and buying a new Christmas ornament all at the Tree Farm. It is always fun, even when it is freezing outside. Thanks for the blog candy!
