Do you all have any fabulous outdoor projects planned for the summer---if you do, let me know and one of you will win a $20 gift certificate to spend at I Brake For Stamps!!!
And I've mentioned before how much I love music and with teens in the house we always have to watch the MTV Awards and last night was hilarious with Betty White, Sandra Bullock and a HILARIOUS dance performance by Tom Cruise as his alter ego from the Tropic Thunder movie (crude, but funny and yes demonstrates my sick humor, lol). So if you dare, watch the video below from the MTV awards--I betcha' will laugh out loud!! (I'm still giggling)

Summer Float!!
My project for you today is a fun one and should give you a lil' giggle! I LOVE, LOVE working with these Humorous Seniors stamps from I Brake For Stamps!! If you follow my blog you've probably seen bunches of these senior projects along the way! This one is called "Floating Wilma" and isn't she just dah-ling!!? I created a fun lil' gift card holder to match as well! If you buy any stamps from I Brake For Stamps make sure to use the coupon code "SAVE10SUZANNE" to save 10% off your entire order!!
The papers that I've used on this card are from Cosmo Cricket's "DeLovely" and I lovee them--in fact I'm ordering a second pad of it, 'cuz I've used most of it already here & there! The colors are so cheery and fun! The sentiment is from PTI's "A Day at the Beach" along with a starfish stamped next to it from the same set.
I quite like the layout on this card---it came together kinda by accident but I like and think it's fun! I added some pearls along the edges for some extra bling, but the papers provide most of the embellishment for the card.
And here is a close up of "Floating Wilma"--hee hee! She is of course colored with Copics and then I've coated her float-ee with a thick coat of diamond glaze. The water got sprinkles of stardust stickles to make it shimmer. If you look closely you'll see her lips and toe-nails are all the lovely shade of RV14, LOL! I mixed in some W3 gray into her brunette hair to make it a bit gray too!
Here are some close-ups of the gift card holder---I whip these up regularly because they're quick, fun and you can very your designs. I originally found the tutorial HERE and then I change up how it closes--this one I've made to look like a mini-wallet with a tab closure. A Basic Grey dual magnet keeps it closed. It's hard to see here but I used the same PTI set on the inside and it says "You Deserve It". On the outside of the tab that's a Prima jeweled flower center (love those).
Hope you enjoyed today's projects and I hope to see you back here either tomorrow or Thursday--depends on if I get my butt in gear, LOL! Have a good one!
Hi Suzanne, your card and the matching card holder are awesome! I love the bright colors, so cheery! And the layout with the pearls is gorgeous! You did a wonderful job...again :-)
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Silvie from France
Such cute and cheery card. Not to mention Yellow is my fav. color!!!! It sounds like a lot of fun will be going on in your backyard this summer!!!! Can I join???? LOL
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Noreen xx
Love this project! That image is so funny. Love the papers and the colours you have used. Wish we had good weather to use one of these. hugs Shelley
ReplyDeleteOh what a cutie. Just too much fun. Thanks for the gift card project. I need to do one of those. If I do any outdoor projects it will be mowing the lawn. Not any fun I can tell you.
ReplyDeleteFabulous card and gift card holder Suzanne. What a super fun image.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, our plans for the outdoors only include trying to keep up with the grass mowing.
We are doing a bit of work on the inside though so that will be good.
Love the card. Bright and funny. Lots of plans for this summer. New roof, I have to tear off a leaky sunroom and reside the back of the house. Also have to redo the top the deck that the sunroom sat on. Lots of garden maintenance to do. Do lots to keep me busy.
ReplyDeleteThis spring we have been re-doing our deck...a wasp family thought it was a nice place to build a nest and ate all of one our railings, so we had to replace one side and decided why not redo all the railings and move the stairs and make them nice wide steps , the kind you can sit on if you wish!! we are almost done, hubby has been working really hard, love that he is so handy!!! Looking forward to a BBQ this weekend on our new deck with some friends!!!
ReplyDeleteThe bright and cheery card is beautiful. My summer plans are pretty simple. Mainly hanging out and a week at the beach. Your backyard sounds awesome.
ReplyDeleteFun card, love the lady lounging in the pool!!! I loved that skit on MTV as well, it was pretty darn funny. I was watching it online and hubby hadn't seen it but could tell exactly the character of it when I was watching it.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the humorous Seniors. The stamp you used here is on my wish list to order in a few weeks. I already have several of IBFS images and plan to get more. These stamps always make me laugh. Great job. Love your layout.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great card! I love all the bright colors you've used and the fun layout. Our project for the summer is new windows...22 of them! We will then be seeing "outdoors" but hopefully keeping the elements out better...so that should qualify as an "outdoors" project...lol. Your outdoor project sounds wonderful!
ReplyDeleteGreat card--love the colors! We already have a deck attached to the house that also goes around our pool but I would like to enclose the one part with screen so we can sit out there without mosquitoes bothering us--oh and also would like ceiling fans.
ReplyDeleteHi Suzanne
ReplyDeletethis card is great
love the image it's fabulous
greetings karin
Love your Wilma card and holder.....makes me smile and laugh. What a great card, so colorful!!! Sounds like it'll be a fun time around your house, great for the whole family.
ReplyDeleteI have a very small backyard so I plan to work on cleaning out my garage to make it more useable for crafting!! Out with the junk and in with the car and crafts!!!
I just love your work.... Your coloring is outstanding, I've watched all of your Copic videos and changed the way I use them. It really made a difference. Thanks for sharing. Linda Duke
ReplyDeleteWhat a hoot that card is! Those senior stamps are so funny. Love the colors on your card. You just amaze me.
ReplyDeleteMy summer project this year will be a new property. We will close on our new 22 acre property on Friday and then we have the summer to shape it up. The land has a mobile home on it but no picnic area so I think that will be the first order of business. To get a real picnic place. Since this is more of a retreat/weekend place for us we don't have to renovate all at once. We hope to build a house there in the future. Thanks for all your inspiration and fun ideas!
Love, Love Love your project! Colors are great and I have a soft place in my heart for seniors because I am quickly nearing senior status!!!
ReplyDeleteAs for summer outdoor projects, mine is to walk as fast as I can from the car to inside the airconditioned buildings here in the Phoenix area! It is hitting 107 regularly now. We make up for it from Oct to May when we have our clement weather.
BTW Tropic Thunder is hilarious! WE have the same sick sense of humor.
I LOVE your card.... it's so fun!!!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see your backyard when it's completed!!! We're planning on replacing our pool.... it's time for a new one & our boys & their friends keep it packed!!!
Thanks so much for sharing!!

Oh my gosh, where do I start....we are building a new house on the ranch and will have all new landscaping to do. We have a very steep bank that need to have some sort of groundcover to help with erosion and lots of trees shrubs and flowers to be planted. I have five trees that my grandson and I will be planting tomorrow. Its like having a blank canvas to play with!
ReplyDeleteThat stamp is a HOOT! Your coloring is amazing! My summer plans include lots of swimming & grillin'!!
ReplyDeleteOh Suzanne!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun card - just love the bright colours and pearls and your awesome image. Great little gift wallet as well.
Hugs, Candy
ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS!!! Tooo cute!!! I gotta head over and get this stamp it is so fun!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Lisa
Our outdoor project this year was a vegetable garden. This is the first year we did this and I have already frozen some squash! The zucinnia, squash, and onions are really coming in! Good eating! The tomato plants are loaded with green tomatoes. Making salsa, sauce, etc. is on the horizion! Your project sounds really neat! Your card is great as usual!
ReplyDeleteGreat card, Suzanne! The design made me giggle.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your landscaping project. I have just gotten a raised garden bed established in order to grow our own veggies and yesterday I found an antique iron bed headboard for the perfect addition to the bed for my beans to crawl up. Now what color to paint it?? So many choices.

Suzanne that one made my day!! The video was something else, gotta hand it to Tom Cruise, he ain't no spring chicken anymore!! The splits were really impressive:)
ReplyDeleteI love your summery card. This lady has the right idea...enjoy summer! I love the tropical colours you used so much! As for my plans this summer. We are putting an addition on our house...and my hubby is the builder so it will be exciting to watch it go up! LOVE the idea you have for your outdoor living space! I think it will be fantastic! I cannot wait to see pictures!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great Wilmaimage and you've coloured her beautifully, Suzanne - as always. I love the little extra touches on this bright and cheery card and gift wallet!

Your card is very cute and I like the image and the colors you use.
ReplyDeleteAs for outdoor plans for our yard. Besides mowing the lawn, we'll add more bark chips to the gardens. We're in the thinking stage of maybe enlarging our small patio. I don't know if we'll get time to do it this summer, though.
Your outdoor plans sound great!
Fun card and gift card holder! I love the bright colors and all the little details you added with the painted toe nails and shimmery water!
ReplyDeleteYour backyard makeover sounds fantastic! I would love one, too! LOL
We're planning lots of fun summer activities this year. We're going to the library to take advantage of their Summer Reading Program. They get prizes for reading books. We're planning picnics at the park with hiking the trails. There's a free movie each week at one of our local theater's for the Children's Film Festival and we're going each week that we can. Safe Night is this weekend and it's also free. Kids have fun playing games and winning prizes while learning to be tobacco and drug free! The food and drinks are all free, too. We are going to the local race track to cheer on our friends. Taking a week long vacation in Florida on the white sandy beach and I cannot wait! Then we may visit the musuems back at home, Holiday World and the zoo!
Hey Suzanne what a cute card ! Love her ..... I guess back yard make overs are in the air I just finished mine and I totally love it !
ReplyDeleteHugs
I'm very excited about your makeover! My husband would love something like you described. This year, though, we have to get rid of all the dry rot (we live in the Pacific NW)in our siding. Loads of work ahead of us. Thanks for all the great inspiration!
ReplyDeleteOur backyard is a work in progress. Once one flower bed gets filled up....I dig up another! But this year, the main goal is nice, thick, lush grass! We powerraked, topseeded, watered until the cows came home and finally the wee green sprouts are peeking up! So exciting
ReplyDeleteThe biggest thing we're doing in our backyard this year is making a sunflower fort. Basically you take different size sunflower seeds and plant them in a circle, leaving an 18 in. opening. Once the sunflowers get big, your kids have a little place they can use like a fort. I made mine 4 ft around, we'll see how it goes! I wish I was getting an outdoor room like you, it's like adding on an addition! How exciting!
ReplyDeleteThis card is a wake me up card. Love it!!!!!! I wish I were on that float...hmmm, never mind...not ready for the swim suit yet! My big plans are having my stepson and his fiance home next month. He and she work in Afghanistan as contractors. Only 10 months and they will be back for good! Every time there's a commotion at the base...the heart skips a beat or 2 or 3 or 4...
ReplyDeleteAwesome projects! I am so glad I found your blog. So much great stuff! Outdoor projects for us this summer are adding a vegetable garden and re-doing some of the landscaping in a couple sections of our backyard. Its been over run so its really going to be a fun project! PLus a nice sitting area as well. Cant wait!

I really love your blog! our outdoor project is to make our yard beautiful!! right not is is plain with lots of weeds that mascarade as grass!!
ReplyDeleteWe will be chillin' this summer here in our home town. But there is so much to do, as we have a fabulous zoo, several beautiful parks and a wonderful neighborhood- so there will be plenty of grilling on the deck, picnics in the park, progressive dinners and the like. And we're in week 2 of our summer long try a new recipe challenge. My family and I pick a theme (cookies, pies, casseroles, side dishes, etc.) and we find a new recipe to share at a dinner gathering on Sunday afternoons. It's been SO much fun and we've discovered some fabulous new dishes too! ENJOY your summer!
ReplyDeleteFirst off GOOD LUCK with your project~~Very Exciting I'm Sure!!
ReplyDeleteSecondly --we are going to redo an area that focuses on my DH business--the sign is all faded and will be coming down and then I need to rethink the plant issue as they have become enormous :))
Thirdly--your card too funny--but cute!!
Blessings and Hugs
No, no outdoor projects planned. :)
