Happy Thursday Friends! Decided to take the day off yesterday just hangin' around with the kids and bein' lazy, hee hee! I realized that there is only 5 more weeks left of summer vacation for them so I've gotta plan some day trips. We're gonna head down to Alexandria this weekend and do the "National Treasure Movie" tour of Mt. Vernon (George Washington's plantation home)--we have annual passes there & we just love it. If you're ever in the area it's a must see for sure--and plan to spend a whole day there! The kids are headed off to my mom's next week for 4 days too--my dad will take Riley fishing & sailing I'm sure, lol! So hubby & I will actually have a few days to ourselves, yippee!! Not sure what we're doing but at least a few dinners out by ourselves for sure!
BLOG CANDY!! I'm giving away the cute Whiff of Joy Stamp below "Bruno Bear w/ Present" and a $20 Gift Certificate to All That Scraps to celebrate my last week as a Guest Designer for them!!
To enter just leave a comment on this post ONLY answering the following question "What is your dream vacation destination & why?" by Sunday, August 2nd at midnite EST!! Winner will be announced Monday morning!! (one comment per person please)
***************************************************
So today I've got a couple of birthday cards to share with you featuring the new Whiff of Joy "Party Animal" stamps! I love these lil' animals--so many perfect occasions to use them for, any celebration really. This card uses cutie "Bruno Bear w/ Present" --except I'm invisioning him as a "she" today for my card, hee hee. (These stamps are also available for pre-order at 7 Kids College Fund right HERE if you want to order them locally here in the states!)
I followed this week's SCS sketch #239 and fun dp from DCWV's "Pocket Full of Posies"--love the bright colors for a celebration card. The flowers are all Primas w/ Doodlebug glittered brad centers and the sentiment is from PTI's "Mega Mixed Messages" ( a MUST have set IMO)!! I added some diamond stickles to the present and on top of the sentiment for lots of shimmer.
Second card uses "Lou Celebrating Monkey" and I paired him up with some fun dp from Memory Box "Rhubarb Tart"--I liked the fun colors together & kinda jungly looking dp. I created jungle leaves with green Prima flowers that I cut--the green flowers work perfectly for doing this (another fun tip from me, hee hee)!! Just a few stickles on the present & the leaves--the sentiment is from Hero Arts "Thoughtful Messages" (I've had this set forever & use it ALOT)! So there ya have it--2 fun birthday cards to add to the stash (actually they're both for sale on my Etsy site, hee hee)!
Don't forget that Whiff of Joy is having pre-orders for their Fall Stamp Kit featuring 10 Elisabeth Bell images for $36 until August 7th right HERE! It's a fabulous deal!!
I'll see ya back here tomorrow!
hugz,
Suzanne

Greetings from germany,
Andrea
I have to say some place beachy - Bali/Fiji -- someplace nice & exotic just for DH & I.
ReplyDeleteMy ultimate dream vacation is Hawaii! I have always wanted to go since I was a kid! Luckily, I married a great guy and that is his ultimate dream vaca too! I've never been there and that would be a great delayed honeymoon for me & hubby! We plan to go there in 2011!
ReplyDeleteSeems to be everyone's dream but definitely Hawaii! We actually have family there with a house on Maui and have been invited to come. It's just a matter of having the time and saving some money. Suzanne, i just love your work. Everything you make is so beautiful. Thank you for the opportunity to win.
ReplyDeleteMy dream vacation is the US. And best part of it is, I am going next year. We're gonna do a cross country starting in LA and then we have 5 weeks ahead of us.
ReplyDeleteOther then that any vacation with my family is a dream vacation.
hugs Annita
My dream vacation is to follow the Lewis and Clark trail from Missouri to Oregon with my husband and kids. I have been fascinated with the Lewis and Clark expedition for years, read many books and watched many movies. It would be incredible to see those historic sites in person!! Thanks for the opportunity. :o)
ReplyDeleteBoth of these are so cute Suzanne. What fun images.
ReplyDeleteMy dream vacation would be one with just my hubby spending a lot of time on a beach. It can't be too hot, though. I'd like to just relax, relax, and relax some more. The place would have to have good food as well, as I love to eat.
Great cards Suzanne! Thanks for the chance to win this great blog candy!! Right now, my dream vacation is to visit Ireland. Why? I don't really know. I've just had an innate interest it going there. Hope to make it some day!! :)

Hmmm... my dream vacation I think would be to go with my husband to a small beautfiul cottage on a beach somewhere by a lighthouse. No children, no phones, no computer. Just a good book, my Bible, my cross stitch, some stamping supplies - eating out every night with no dietary restrictions - walking on the beach in the moonlight...
ReplyDeleteWhy? I would love to just get away and enjoy God's creation, without demands on my time and my thought. It would be fun to relax, to be with my husband.... Ahhh, it's restful just to think about it!!
Beautiful creations as usual! Love that little bear. My dream vacation would be to see the fjords of Norway and stay in a little village for a month or so. I've always loved seeing pictures and somehow feel a personal connection pulling me there. Of cours I would also love to hit a stamp shop or two while I'm there.
ReplyDeleteI teach in Alexandria and love visiting Mt. Vernon too. It's awesome to see it passing by on the river. Have fun!

Suzanne, beautiful work as always!! Love that bright and happy bear, sooo cute! and the monkey, love what you did with the "leaves"!! Clever!!
ReplyDeleteMy dream vacation depends on if it's just me or not. My (personal) dream/perfect vacation is the sun, beach, (and also pool), and a huge stack of books and movies. No cooking, no cleaning, nobody needs anything, LOL just get lost in my own little world, sun and swim. aaah!! DH can't handle "doing nothing" - not even for a day. So he can't come, LOL.
If it's not just me, then I would love for DH and I to go back to Italy. We went on our honeymoon and it was amazing! I'd spend at least 2 weeks, with less time in Rome and more in the countryside and would also go to the coast.
absolutely love your creations. i visit almost daily.
ReplyDeletemy dream vacation, a beach with shade and sand. love the warm weather, sand, water but not the sun. All the crafting supplies, I could dream of. Some one to cook exotic meals while I play and a pool boy for eye candy to prep my cocktails.
Maryann
My dream vacation.....a cruise to somewhere nice and tropical drinking strawberry dacquiris in the sun and getting a nice tan. I guess if my hubby is nice he could go with since we never had a honeymoon.
ReplyDeleteDon't remind me about summer ending. I have to send my son off to college at the beginning of September and I am not ready to let him go just yet.
I would also love to win your prize though.
Denise H.
My dream vacation would include a trip to see Times Square, then off to Disneyworld. I want to thank you for all of your wonderful and informative videos. Suzanne you are a true artist.

But, on the other hand, I'd like to visit Russia and the Ukraine as that's where my husband's family is from (and more recently than mine).
ReplyDeleteMy dream destination is Hawaii. I'm not sure what the lure is other then the beaches, but I have always wanted to go there. Perhaps to take an airplane tour of all of the islands. Another destination would be Australia!! Thank you Susan for all of the great information and inspiration you provide every day on your blog!!

ReplyDeleteLast summer i went to Ibiza, we were in a hotel with full breakfast, and dinner, beautiful pool, steps away from a white sand tourquoise water beach... We took a katameran trip off to a deserted island, the water was shallow and warm, the fish were swimming around, it was great snorkeling, and the riding around on the rigging of the katameran was so warm yet so cool with the ocean spray spraying up from underneath. It was sooooo gorgeous!!!!! I would love to go back there!!
ReplyDeleteLove your cards ! The Whiff of Joy images are too cute !
ReplyDeleteI am not sure what my dream vacation would be but I think it would be hoping in the motorhome and heading from one coast to the other of Canada and through the U.S. Now if I could avoid all the large cities along the way , I think I would be very happy

Mostly I prefer to stay home but I can think of a few places that I would like to visit. My dd would love to see her birthplace so I could go to Ft. Sill, OK but that would be more for her. I would love to see Boston again if my other dd would get a job there and live. I would enjoy going to Paris again without a baby on my back and spend much more time there.

We had so much fun with this that this past year we went to San Diego, CA and did just the same thing, deciding either the night before or the morning!
Loads of fun!

Oh, by the way - I'm a teacher in Indiana and we start back August 12th - sigh!!! I'll be thinking of you enjoying those extra weeks w/your children (can ya tell I'm envious???). Of course, if we didn't start until after Labor Day, then we'd be in school until the middle of June - 180 student days one way or the other.
Thanks again for this wonderful opportunity!

ReplyDeleteMy dream vacation is to the Bahamas. My husband and I went there on our honeymoon just over 4 years ago and I fell in love with the ocean! The whole atmosphere there was awesome. I was sick when we were there before, so I didn't get to enjoy it as much as we would have liked, so I can't wait to go again for our 5th wedding anniversary! :)
The Caribbean ... I dream about the beautiful beaches..the aqua blue water.. YEP - THAT'S MY VACATION TO BE HAD!!!
ReplyDeleteThese cards are so cute! My dream vacation would be to go back to Kona, Hawaii and do more fishing and spend some time with my hubby! We have been there twice before and both times, I caught Wahoo. I would love to go back and catch some Mahi-Mahi or a giant yellow fin tuna. The weather is so beautiful there and the scenery is magical. The plants are very similar to what we have in FL, but the ocean just has it's own mystique! The water is such a different color there. Besides, where else can you kayak with a giant sea turtle swimming up to your boat?

That's a tough choice because I have lots of dream vacations Australia, Italy, England to visit my niece, Norway to visit my grandmothers family but most recently my dream is to spend an extended weekend with some dear stamping/card swapping friends I made on SCS. Good news is we are planning a Sisterpalooza get together at a lodge in Wisconsin next July and plan on doing lots of crafty things together! I am so excited!!! Want to join us???
My dream vacation spot would be a return to the Caribbean, especially Turks and Caicos. What fabulous clear blue, warm water! The sand on the beaches was like flour, and I couldn't believe how beautiful it was.
ReplyDeleteMy son is a 2nd year resident ER doctor at a New York hospital & I would love to see him "in action". That would be awesome! We are planning a trip in Sept to attend a wedding in PA but it will be very rushed so I'm hoping for a "dream vacation" in the near future to spend more time exploring New York with them.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the offer of some yummy candy!
btw.....your cards are darling!
Huggies ~
Well, let me think. I guess my dream vacation would be to Maine and Nova Scotia and along that coast. I have never been to that part of the country. We were lucky enough to see Alaska and that was a dream come true! Hawaii is on my list as well. Someday...
ReplyDeleteWhat great blog candy you are offering and the Lockhart stamp today is beautiful!
These are both such wonderful cards! I always love your cards :-)
ReplyDeleteMy "dream" vacation would actually be a FULL week at Walt Disney World!! I live in Florida, so I have only ever gone to Disney for a few days at a time. But we go often. However, since we are usually only there for a few days, we spend that time at the parks. I would love to just take in the experiences at the awesome themed hotels and pools!! Silly I guess!

Love your cards!!
ReplyDeleteMy dream vacation - a card making/scrapbook cruise where my husband could come and play lots of poker. When we stop at the ports, we could join up and go sight seeing together, then once back on, we could go off to do our own thing and everyone would be happy!! LOL! Somewhere hot I think - a Mediterranean cruise. Yup!
Thanks for the offer!!
I would love to drive down the eastcoast and see the land where our fathers fought for freedom of the slaves. My family's homestead is still in Virginia and would love to stay at the bed and breakfast that it now is. I would also like to go to the Nascar races while I am doing all that.
ReplyDeleteI would love to go to the east side of Canada. I have visited all of the states and Mexico but have only been in Canada once and that was on the West Coast.
ReplyDeleteThanks for offering the blog candy.
Your creations are beautiful! Thanks for offering the blog candy!
ReplyDeleteMy dream vacation would be to go to Hawaii! My sister and her family went there and they want to go back. I sure wish I could have sneaked into her suitcase but she lives too far away for that. LOL
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win the blog candy!
I would LOVE to go to GREECE. The archaeological treasures in that land are spectacular - the food is wonderful - and there is NOTHING as beautifully blue as the Mediterranean Sea and Sky.
ReplyDeleteOOoooh, my dream vacation is a little spot just south of St. Augustine, not far from where I used to live called Matanza's Inlet. David and I go there right off the old A1A and we have the whole beach to ourselves! There is never anyone around and it's so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteMy dream destination would be anywhere in Europe. There are so many places to visit and so many things to see. But if I have to take only one destination it would be France for all the history,it`s culture, food, wine and the beautiful castles to visit.
ReplyDeleteMy dream vacation would be somewhere warm and sunny with my son maybe back to California where we could go and enjoy the adult side as last time he was 14 so couldnt experience the night life now at 26 would be wonderful. This would be amazing end to a dreadful year as last september he broke his neck but is ok now happy ending.
ReplyDeleteHi, Love your blog and your work, visit you every day. My dream vacation would be 2 weeks in Italy, touring the wine vineyards and taking some Italian cooking courses with my husband. We were in Venice a couple years ago, and I just fell in love the the country and way of life.

ReplyDeleteMy dream holiday would be to Queensland in Australia to visit my very best friend in the world. And because it is a dream holiday I will be travelling on my own- no gorgeous family to stop me going in to the wonderful exciting paper/stamp shops. [sigh]
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love all the new WoJ stamps. Very cute! My dream vacation would be to earn the Stampin' Up! incentive trip and go to Hawaii or wherever they may be going at the time. I can't imagine anything more fun than being able to vacation and stamp with such great ladies!
ReplyDeleteWow.. thought I would never find where to leave a comment.
ReplyDeleteMy dream vacation would probably be a scrapbooking cruise. A whole week of being away from it all ad scrapbooking/making cards with a whole bunch of others that enjoy doing the same thing. And think of the creativity that would be flowing.
My dream vacation has always been to visit Greece. I am fascinated by the historic sights like the Parthenon. Swimming in thye blue green sea would be my idea of heaven
ReplyDeleteCheers Annie
I would love to travel to new York. Ever since I was young, I have always wanted to see The Statue of Liberty, ride the subway, and walk in Central Park.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy all of your creations!

ReplyDeleteMy dream vacation is to take a Precept Ministries trip to the Holy Land. If I can't then a trip to the grandkids will be terrific too. They are a joy!
ReplyDeleteThank you for a chance at this great candy. I just love all your copic videos, I watch them with my crafter-in-training! My dream vacation would be to go to Africa. It sounds bad, but I want to see the slave prisons that my family was held in before they came to America, it would be so healing. The whole continent has such a rich and beautiful history and I want to show that to my daughter. So, one of these days...
ReplyDeleteMy dream vacation destination would be the central Oregon Coast. I love the cool temps, the greens, clouds, and blue ocean. Living in the desert, an Oregon Coast summer just cannot be beat.

I love to travel and I love going to places I have never been. but for me, my perfect vacation is up in the mountains, on a porch, listening the the wind in the trees, watching the hummers, the squirrels, the birds. it is so restful to feel the cool breeze gently going over me. that's where I spent the last week! on my parents porch!!!
ReplyDeletethanks for putting my name in the hat!

ReplyDeleteI love your cards! So bright and cheerful :) I'm a longtime scrapper and just starting to get interested in stamping thanks to some of the talented bloggers I've "met". Thanks for the chance at Bruno; he's a cutie!
ReplyDeleteMy dream vacation is to Mackinac Island, MI both for the natural beauty and Victorian charm. If you're interested see my recent blog post HERE where I'll tell you more about the island and give you a link to some bee-you-tee-ful photos!
Just found your blog....love your coloring and instructions. Thanks much...can't wait to view more goodies! Bless~
ReplyDeleteHello Suzanne!
ReplyDeleteMy dream destination would be Kaui. It's laid back, lush, tropical, romantic, and sooooo pretty! And I love pineapple, macadamias, and the island lifestyle! :)
I'm not a lazy-in-the-sun type (ivory white skin, I burn rather than tan...), so my favorite vacation destination would be some scrapbooking / stamping mekka, like getting into a Tim Holz course!
ReplyDeletexx,
nunt
absolutely stunning cards Suzanne, as always
ReplyDeleteWhat is your dream vacation destination & why?
well, I live in the North East of Scotland and although its nicer weather than its stereotype I would love to go somewhere a bit warmer. I have a 5 year plan to get myself my degree and move to Australia, so that would be my dream holiday destination - to go visit one of my oldest friends in Canberra and make some enquiries about emigrating. I think it would be a great way of life for my 3 children.

It's been so long since I've been able to afford a nice vacation that I don't even dream about them anymore. But if a miracle happened and I could go anywhere I think I would like to take a cruise with an outside window cabin all along the west coast of North America - spending a lot of time along Canada and esp. Alaska. I really want to see the Northern Lights. I don't think there could be anything more beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMy dream destination would be to Hawaii. My son just got home from doing 2 tours in Iraq and I havent seen him in 1 1/2 yrs so it would be nice to see him again, plus its so beautiful there.
ReplyDeleteMy dream destination would be a cruise ship for a nice long Alaskan cruise! I've always wanted to do that, and travel. Not bad wishes for someone who only spends vacation with family for all these years! But they live far away, and it's important to stay in touch!
ReplyDeleteI would love to go to Germany to visit my aunts and uncles and while there visit other places in Europe. Thanks for a chance to win...and thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteFirst.

My dream vacation would be a cruise in Alaska. But a side note - love love love your tudorials - on using the copic markers. Please keep doing them.
ReplyDeletePS Not sure if this is a duplicate. I prev left a comment, and it didn't show up so resending another one.
Hi!
ReplyDeleteThank you for all you do!
My dream vacation would be to have all my friends to my house for a week to craft.
Why? Because I love to craft and love to share what I create with the people care about, and I love to be with them.
My dream vacation would be on a tropical island with my family and no phone, email, tv etc. Just time for us to talk and do things together without interruption.
ReplyDeleteWhy - because as the kids get older it is getting harder and harder to find time for us all to connect - there is always something going on. Also I love the tropics so what a better place to connect? Sand, sun and ocean a perfect place to relax and explore.
My dream vacation is going to florida by myself. I was able to do that this past spring and visit my mom for a whole week. It was very peaceful and relaxing to just spend time with her.
ReplyDeleteYour creations are beautiful. Sandy Ford sandyford77@sbcglobal.net
My dream vacation is to the good ole USA (I live in Australia). I'd be able to meet some of the wonderful people I only visit in cyberspace AND get some serious craft shopping accomplished!
